Took DS who is 8 weeks old for his first set of injections today and ended upleaving in an ambulance.
After the second jab DS went very pale -the doc rushed in and gave him a shot of adrenaline and put him on oxygen -next thing I knew were in an ambulance on our way to hospital.
On arrival at hospital about 10 mins later DH had improved and was discharged after a few hours. The docs say it was not a reaction to the drugs but they think it was the shock of the injection. I have never heard of anything like this before. Has this happened to anyone else?

Never heard of this. Hopefully you are both over the shock.
Wishing DS a speedy recovery :)
OMG how frightening for you - glad DS is ok
I have never heard of this before but I am sending you a big hug
I assume they'll research this more before giving him his next jab - let us know what happens.

OMG I bet you were so scared. I have never heard of this before but I do know that some babies hold their breath if they get a shock - it's a reflex action, not deliberate (which sounds like what the doc was talking about). Still, must have been very worrying - bet you're not looking forward to the next lot in 4 weeks :guilty:

Oh my gosh you must have been in shock yourself!! What an awful thing to go through. I only hope it doesn't happen again and that baby stays well, :grouphug:

I hope things go OK for you and the little 'un.
We agonised over this and in the end we went for individual jabs, much to our Doctors disgust.

Thanks guys!! DS is great today it has not bothered him at all!!!
Obi Wan Kenobi-we are not having the MMR for DS we have also decided to have single jabs!!!!
DS is to have another set of jabs in 4 weeks-these are to be done at the hospital by a consultant and he will be kept on the ward for observation.

We opted against the MMR for our two daughters, we got the seperates done by Direct Health 2000 at Rodney Street, Liverpool. £85 a shot.

very good, one of our little 'uns Godmother's is a senior teaching lecturer (and nurse by qualification) at the RCN and we took her along to suss them out. She was very impressed with their way of operating.
