Bringing electronic devices on airplanes

Does anyone think electronic devices (game boys, personal cd players) will not be allowed on flights in the near future? I mentioned to my husband that I am taking these for my 9yr son (when I fly alone with him) in 2 weeks. My husband thinks they may be banned in the near future because things can be hidden inside them.

In the near term, you probably will have to show electronic devices are functional. Eventually I doubt if they will be allowed as carrry-on.

Is this something new that just came about? No cd players or gameboys? What will those 9yr boys do?

When we flew in last night, we carried on game boys and a laptop. We just had to turn on
the gameboys and played a little of the game when they checked our luggage.

Im asking for schoolwork so he has to do it on the plane or while waiting. He's usually good about the time but after a while does ask "How much longer?"
