Well Ive been home for 6 weeks now and this is me just getting round to my first LO! I have a whole years worth of Photos to scrap, no way il ever get caught up on that!!

http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/photopost/data/6748/medium/Falkirk_024.jpg

Sorry for the bad photography, it has the glare from the flash, but with the flash off it was very fuzzy and you couldnt see the details.

I love this photo, Almost as much as I love toffee apples!
It was taken at Magic Kingdom during Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party.

There are so many fantastic LO's here!

Pixie Dust 112-I have been using DCWV Once Upon a Time's papers too for some of my Disney layouts. They are fantastic papers! I'm glad I am finally using them on something.

Years ago, I would've killed for those DCWV Fairy Tale pages! They really are gorgeous!

I've made a couple of LOs recently:

Hello everyone! This is my first time to the scrapbook boards. :thumbsup2 I just wanted to post my very first scrapbook page ever. A friend of mine asked everyone who knew her daughter to make up some kind of page to go into an 8x11 photo type of album. It's for her graduation, so I decided to do a scrapbook page, although I've never scrapbooked before, I came up with this. The picture was taken by a friend of my son's while they were in Paris a week and a half ago. I swear I didn't use a kit! I'm afraid that it looks like I did. ;)

I'm definately finally going to use that Creative Memories scrapbook that I bought at a home party back in 2000. :rotfl: I bought the basic stuff back then, but never did anything with it. My x-acto sliding cutter thing doesn't seem to work well though. It keeps getting stuck, I don't think I ever used it enough to dull the blade. I had to hand cut everything for that page above and it was a pain.

I saw from this board that people digitally scrapbook, how big are the pages when you do that? Do you print those pages from your home computer?

Thanks for the compliments. I was trying to get the sense of roundness. (They are all in a circle around the Partners statue). Not so easy when you are working with rectangular pictures on square pages. It was Halloween time so I wanted the colors to reflect fall.

I must agree that your first page was fantastic!

To answer your digital question, there are many options available. I'm a CM consultant, so I only use CM's Storybook Creator software. You can make three different size scrapbooks/pages (7", 12" & 11x8-1/2). You can either do a complete book or have individual pages(the 7" and 12") printed at the CM Photo Center which you can add to a traditional or PicFolio scrapbook, or place in a Page Frame. They are also going to introduce Poster Prints in two sizes soon.

I know that you can purchase a printer that will print 12" pages, but I'd much rather save the expense of another printer and send out to have it printed.

I hope this helps! I'm sure that others will tell what they do.

Good luck, and keep up the good work! :thumbsup2

MakingScrapbooks

Thank you ColleenG! I appreciate your sweet comments!

I use a few different things for creating my digital pages, depending on what the project is that I am doing.

For these pages, I used LifeTimez software (which was a limited edition version of Memory Mixer). It is extremely easy and quick to use! I can download digital elements off the internet and add them to the software to use. I've gotten lots of Disney related items over the last few months. It's sort of like a cheaters version of adobe photoshop without having to create all of your own elements. LOL!! I love it! I can work pretty quickly in it.

I then use Heritage Makers My Studio to upload the pages once I'm finished with them, and purchase it as a printed book. Since I'm a consultant, I get a discount on my books this way! :) I love the quality too.

Sometimes I create my projects in the HM My Studio. It is just as easy & quick as LifeTimez / Memory Mixer, but you need to be connected to the internet to use it. That's the big difference.

Hope that helps! You can PM me if you have any other questions. I'll be adding more pages to that slideshow soon. I've been busy!!! :yay:

Yes, you can do this with paint cans! You can get empty paint cans in small and gallon size at places like home depot and lowes. Then decorate the outside with scrapbook paper & embellishments. Make something with your kids pictures, like an altered cd, and place those on dowel rods in the can. I'd use a piece of styrofoam in the can to hold them up. Then fill with paper shreds or something like that.

Hope that helps!
Good luck!

Congrats mmkk & latharia for finishing your Disney books! I've done almost 80 layouts, and I'm still not even half way done. So jealous!!

I haven't posted LOs here in a while, I'm so behind posting my LOs on the boards! I still need to post my MNSSHP LOs I finished about a month ago! I've been working on my MGM Studios LOs recently. I used the Cricut on all of these. If you want to know any other credits for these LOs, let me know!

Stitch Photopass-Since there aren't any Stitch embelishments out there, I made him using SCAL on the Cricut. It was harder to put him together than the cuts on the Disney carts, since those include outlines of where to put the color cuts, but it actually wasn't as hard as I thought. It just took a while since there were a lot of pieces. I cut him pretty big, at 7 1/2 inches, since I knew the smaller he was, the harder it would be! It was SO worth it when he was done though. He came out great, don't you think?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v109/kswm30b/scal_stitch600.jpg

I also used SCAL to cut the title, using the "Dream of Me" font.

2 page spread:

Indiana Jones-Months ago, a poster on the Cricut board posted Indiana Jones & Marion dolls she made using the Paper Dolls cart. I posted that I would be using her instructions (and thankfully, they were detailed!) to make my own Indy doll for this page. I don't think my Indy came out as cute as hers, though I still think he came out well. Especially since I only used one other embelishment on the LO, he really makes the layout! The title is made using the Adventure font in SCAL.

What's to improve? Those are INCREDIBLE! If my first pages looked like that, I would never have to improve. Please tell her that they are amazing and at least one supposedly experienced scrapper will be scraplifting.

Here are two bouquet buckets that I made for my DD7 first grade teacher and my DS2 child care provider.

I mostly used the LOCKER TALK Cricut cartridge - Originally it was a cart that I thought I would have NO use for --- but I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

I also used the PAPER DOLL Cart.

Thanks for looking!

You are very creative!

I haven't gotten into the Cricut craze yet. How expensive is everything? You need the machine and all the cartridges, correct? What is the cost (approx.)?

My mom got the little cricut for $119 on Black Friday (what a buy!) --- Right now, they're about $150-$180---- the bigger one is $300 or more.

The Carts run $60-$90 each - you have to keep your eye open for the sales (Michaels and Hobby Lobby) - they have 50% off sales every once in awhile.

I stopped scrappin' entirely for a couple years - then I got my Cricut and the rest is history!! It's very addicting - I love it!

These projects, though, took me at least 3 straight days. I started on Saturday night and finished them on Monday night. I was really surprised how much paper I used!!!!

Heather,
I love your Stitch! I saw the website that you I guess downloaded the clip art file from, but how did you get SCAL to break it up into the various colors? Is it in a file that way? I don't have SCAL and have been thinking of getting it. If it can cut other characters it just might push me off the fence :rotfl: . Don't tell my DH :rolleyes1 Thanks for the help.

Well, kind of. You have to download inkscape, but it's free! (or if you have Adobe Illustrator you can edit svg files that way.) You can pretty much cut ANYTHING out there, you just have to trace it in Inkscape. What's great about the site I got stitch from is that you don't have to trace anything, it's much easier. Just make sure you download the wmf version from that site. Then you import it into inkscape, and just pull it apart! Just drag all the pieces that are the same color so that they are together, so it's easy to line up on the mat when you go to cut it. So group all the light blue pieces together, then all the dark blue together, then all the red together, etc. Once you move all the pieces away, the black background is there to cut as well. I'm not too good at explaining things, lol, but it's not as complicated as I probably make it sound! You save it as an svg file, and in SCAL, just import the svg file.

And of course you can cut it any size you want, the only thing that restricts size is the size of your mat. I rotated stitch so that I could cut him at 7 1/2 inches.

I was on the fence for a while about this program. When I saw the discount posted here, I decided to go for it. I've already gotten my money's worth out of it (I have several carts that I haven't even used yet, or only used once, and spent $30-$50 each, so even if I only made the stitch LO, it would have been equal to that!) I've done several more LOs the last few days that I need to post, and I've used SCAL on those as well. I still use my carts, but I love being able to cut out any font on my computer. The other characters (and any shape/design/image/etc) is just icing on the cake.

Thaks. I made my page today and I didn't do your layout any justice at all. Mine turned out okay but my circle isn't centered because after I was done I changed my mind, I was going to put my title down the side then I changed it and put in the middle forgetting that my circle wasn't centered. :confused3
It can be viewed at http://chrissyscreativespot.blogspot.com/2008/06/disney-statues.html

EDIT: It was driving me crazy that my page wasn't centered so I made one minor correction to it. The new improved page can be viewed here http://chrissyscreativespot.blogspot.com/2008/06/disney-statues-re-do.html (Sorry file is to large to upload directly here).

I was going to post some of my MNSSHP layouts, but I've only posted one of my princess layouts in this thread, and figured I might as well post the other 4 first! My Belle layout is on page 92, post #1379 if you missed it. :)

These are some of my favorite pages I've done so far from my Disney album (and I'm up to over 60 layouts so far, and no where close to being done...good thing I LOVE working on my Disney albums!)

First up is Aurora.

The picture of the second page is dark, and the pics themselves all look green for some reason? It doesn't look like that in person.

Aladdin & Jasmine- All these pages use the cricut, but this one includes the first prince/princess I made with the princess cart. Hard, but not as hard as I thought it might be. I made them several days before I worked on this page. I wish I had looked at my pic of Aladdin before making him, because the color for his outfit didn't match what they show in the handbook. And, of course, I used the handbook as my guide for which colors to use. Next time, I have to remember to look at the actual picture instead. I also wish that I used gold paper for Jasmine's earrings (instead of the brown, which doesn't show up well in the pics.) Still I was pretty happy with how they came out, especially since it was my first time working on piecing people together, rather than a mouse, duck, or dog. ;) The pic that you can't see because of glare on the 2nd page is of Jasmine signing my book.

Some of the die cuts like the jasmine/aladdin one you talked about was made from the CRICUT... and it's cartridges... I think that one is the Dreams Come True cartridge. If you go to cricut.com that will explain more about the machine and show you all the cartridge available (at additional cost~ but so worth it with all the additional features it has)... Sometimes the specific words can be cut out from the same cartridges you find the characters on...

Hope that helps a little..and :welcome: to our cozy little corner... Feel free to jump right in to the threads and if you have any questions just ask..someone is usually around that will be glad to answer or point you in the right direction to get the answers!!!!

There are two different kinds of cricuts. One is big - one is small ---
if you're new to scrapping, I would highly recommend NOT getting the big one - I have the little one and use it all the time.

DO NOT pay $499 for either! Check Wal-Mart, Michaels, Joann's and Hobby Lobby for the machines - watch for sales.

My mom found the little one for $119 @ WM on Black Friday. I still haven't seen it that cheap since then. $169 is pretty avg for the little one.

The carts run about $60-$90 - but we here at the DIS boards are constantly on the look out for cart sales. HL just had a sale for buy 2 for $99 - this is considered a great buy! Sometimes you can find them for 50% off. Fair warning - the Cricut is a true addiction. I would recommend not starting off w/ the Disney Carts (Princess, especially) They are kinda confusing w/ all the layering/ etc. Start off w/ fonts first and play around w/ those and get comfortable w/ the machine.

Go to the CRICUT website. On their message board they have a forum dedicated to each cart so you can see what people have done with them.

Have fun!

the larger cricut (Expressions) DOES do a better job w/ detail and small/tiny cuts. You can make characters/items as big as 12 inches (I think) - so if you're a teacher or ever make posters/signs for any reason, you'll want this for those purposes as well. The little Cricut cuts items up to 5 1/2 inches.

I have the little cricut and cannot do the princess/disney characters much smaller than 3-4 inches - otherwise, it won't cut the tiny details as well.

Just wanted you to be aware that you'll pay $349 for the Expressions - it does come w/ 1-2 carts to play around with - but the Disney Cart will be another $60-$80 or so...

If you can afford the bigger one - go for it and get it! I don't think you'll regret it. Both machines take/read all carts - so you won't lose out that way.

Do you have a local scrap book store w/ a crop night - I'm sure you could go and explore/play w/ one!

Okay, I've been doing a number of 8X8 pages for my nephew's album (we visited for his 9th birthday in January):
Disney birthday (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20747&sort=2&cat=500&page=2)
here (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20753&sort=2&cat=500&page=2)
ahoy! (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20755&sort=2&cat=500&page=2)
hook (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20757&sort=2&cat=500&page=2)
dreams (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20803&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
magical (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20805&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
lodging (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20815&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
expert (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20817&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
hugs (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20865&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
tree (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20895&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
money (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20897&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
today (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20899&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
I'd forgotten how cramped an 8x8 page is ... so I enjoyed the freedom of making some 12x12 pages for my own albums:
strong (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20847&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
invitation (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20849&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
apprentice (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20861&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)
chef Mickey (http://www.houseofpaper.com/custom/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=20863&sort=2&cat=500&page=1)

Thanks for looking! I've still got about 7 more pages for the 8X8 album ... and will probably make a couple more 12x12's and maybe an 8 1/2 x 11 for my nephew's main album!

Love looking at all these layouts! Thought I'd share what I've been working on from my trip to Disneyland in May.

It was me and my dad--he was there for a convention, and I had both never been to DL and had a friend who lives in LA that I hadn't seen in ages. It was a good time for a trip. This is what I have so far:

Also, while my dad was at his convention, I went into the parks alone to go on the crazy rides that's he's not really a fan of:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/JenM512/P8060164.jpg

(the photo of the layout is a little fuzzy, but that's my dad in the lower right corner giving his opinion of Tower of Terror)

I also have pictures from Splash and Space Mountain that I'm working on, and some really funny pictures of Thunder Mountain & Indiana Jones--my dad rode those!!

Bamajenn- your pages are adorable. Where did you find the Mickey waffle sticker? It's perfect for Chef Mickey's!! Thanks for sharing!
Believe it or not, it's not a sticker... most of what you see on that page isn't actually (except the big glove). When you dine at Chef Mickey's you can purchase your family photo as I'm sure you know. The photo comes to you in a little cardboard folder/frame. I carefully cut out a bunch of the designs from that folder to include in that LO. That's where the waffle and the stack of characters with food etc. came from! So glad you enjoyed it!

Somewhere I saw mentioned someone doing a character album.

Would you separate your characters pages from the trip albums or do additional pages for it?

Has anyone ever done this?

I'm intrigued with the idea but don't know where to start... I think it would be interesting to see how the characters change over time and with parks.

How do you have it organized? Do you have more than one trip in it? What if you see a character more than once?

I think this would be real fun to do.

How do you have it organized? Do you have more than one trip in it? What if you see a character more than once?

I think this would be real fun to do.

I've only completed my character pages for one trip (I have another to do, and then I'm going back in 15 days. Will.never.finish!), but yes, I'm planning to put them all in one book.

My character pages start with the 2nd pic here, which is the intro page for the characater album:
http://heatherw.com/other/gallery/v/other/scrapbook/dis07/?g2_page=3

And they go through to page 10, ending with Goofy:
http://heatherw.com/other/gallery/v/other/scrapbook/dis07/?g2_page=10

I'm going to have an intro page for each different trip, but all will be in the same album.

If I met several characters in the same place or it's a character meal, I also have a LO for the attraction/restaurant where I met those characters in my trip album (well, I have several albums right now, haha, but I'm going to combine them somehow!) For example, in my character album, I have a LO for Aurora, a LO for Cinderella, and a LO for Belle. Then, with my Magic Kingdom LOs, I have this LO about meeting the princesses in the Hall of Fame tent:
http://heatherw.com/other/gallery/v/other/scrapbook/dis07/mk_hof_site.jpg.html

BTW, I love your Brother Bear LO. Too cute! I love looking at everyone's LOs here, even if I'm really behind in responding!!

Great page. I am still workig along (very slow must add) on my 2006 WDW trip. I have an easier time sitting down and making cards then I do a page for some reason, must change that or at least work on both equally.

Thanks. The filmstrip I made witht the Cricut. It's on the Mickey and Friends cartridge as an icon border. I cut it at 2.5 inches and put a couple of them together to fit the width of the page.

I think I just found a way to spend the next few hours. Wonder how long it will take to get through this entire thread? (I started at the end!):surfweb:

I've also been looking to get my scrapbooking mojo back and you ladies sure are helping. I'm looking into the Cricut, is it really easy to use? I've been eyeing it for awhile and I've been afraid once I get it home I'll be lost. I only have the weekends to work on my scrapbooking so I need something fast and dependable to work with. Any advice on the Cricut would be greatly appreciately. :thumbsup2 TFS!!:worship:

Ok, about the Cricut, they have this deal http://www.4cricut.com/ on their website. Is this the newest machine (I doubt it but thought I would ask) and if not, what is the difference b/w this one and the new one, Expression (besides the $)? Any Cricut users care to elaborate for me, I would greatly appreciate it. My main concern is naturally, the Disney cartridges, do they work on both machines or just the new one? Are the cartridges easy to come by (we do have a Michaels about 45 minutes away from me, but I've never noticed them before, probably because I wasn't looking for them :lmao: DUH!). What I mean is will I need to get them online? TIA :thumbsup2

Get your cricut from Wal-mart it's cheaper and no shipping charges, you still get the George Cart.
Just get the regular Cricut to start with I have not had a need for the experssion as of yet, when the need changes I'll buy one.
All Cartridges are universal. If you want some advice i wait for the carts to go on sale at micheals and i get alot of them on Ebay.
Ebay is awesome for all elements of scrapbooking supplies and alot of times the shipping prices are lower than alot oof the scrapbook websites out there.

ColleenG

Definately get the Cricut. You'll love it. It's easy to use. The Disney characters just take a little time to piece together. Michael's had the carts on sale every now and then for $40. That's when I stock up on them. If I need it sooner I usually look online or ebay.

Thanks! I still need to finish my DL book, and scrap my WDW from last December. I'm also going to London and Paris next month, plus I have a new nephew, so I can't wait to start scrapping all that too. I only have the weekends too, so I may never leave the house again if I take it on all at once.

Hello to everyone. I've been lurking here for awhile and getting some great tips. Thanks to all of you!

I've been a scrapbooker for years but have recently gone digital. I also do a lot of video editing and use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Premiere. I'm in the process of scrapbooking the highlights of my life -- two-page spreads for each topic. When I get caught up to date, I plan to transfer the pages to a video documentary set to music for my kids. Sort of a family history.

I found Miss Kim's "Road Trip" freebie kit and loved it so I threw together this layout using it. Thanks, Kim!

Thanks guys! I think I got the Mulan background paper from Mousememories. I ordered it awhile back, so I'm not totally sure, but most of my stuff that I've gotten online has been from there. I have another piece of it so I'll check the name of it. Beast paper is from a Paper Piazzzaz book of princess papers that I recently found in my stash.

Scraplift, borrow, steal away! Most of my pages are "borrowed" from someone else. That one I did based on the page map for the challenge (#11) here on the dis!

The papers are from a company that I am a sales person for so I don't know if I can mention it on the boards:confused3 . The colors are coral cameo, bayou blue and soft sky. The designer paper is called ski slope. Hope this helps you out. If you would like dimensions for the safari paper, pm me and I will give you the measurements so you don't have to figure it out. Glad you enjoyed them

For those of you who make these beautiful layouts without pictures how do you use them? That probably sounds stupid but when I scrapbook I always begin with the pictures, I select papers from the colors in the picture. I'm always afraid if I made layouts ahead of time they would never get used because I wouldn't have pictures to match. We would go to the zoo and everyone would be wearing the wrong colors or I would have to plan everyones clothes to match the layout.

I would love to scraplift your ideas but I don't know how to make them fit my process.

Does that make sense?

Well, this is my first scrapbook page in probably a year or so. I actually gave all my stash away four months ago... so I was working with limited supplies. I have no letters for a title, and my writing sucks. haha But I like the simpleness to it. I made this with a kit from the Dollar tree! I still have plenty left over from it too.

Thank you!

I sketched out the main parts of what I wanted on the appropriate colors of paper. And I used scissors to cut it out. Then because I am typically a perfectionist I kept recutting until all the shapes looked correct. For the boat, I used some black thread as the boat's "rope". The mickey heads are all punches though! Of course all this was done last summer, when I was on summer vacation from teaching! I wish I had some of that time again now!!
