I am so upset!!!!! Let me just tell you that I have a big family, 6 sisters and 1 brother. I hope I can explain this without confusing you guys...My niece (11)was just selected to be in a broadway company show. All my family will be going.. My mom, dad, brother, sisters, their kids etc........The problem is can not afford to go. It is 80 dollars a ticket. I have to get 5. Not to mention the gas to get there and the hotel. None of my family understands!!!!!! Well thats not true my mom and dad understand.

This is the part I hope I don't confuse you on!!!! I am the youngest. All my siblings are at least 10 years older then me. They NEVER understand that my family is just starting out!!!!!!!! All of them make alot more money than we do. As they should they have alot of years experience. They are set in their careers. I am a sahm starting school again. Its expensive!!!!!! I just wish they would show alittle compassion and realize although I want to go really bad I can not afford it.

Thank you for letting me rant!!!!!!!!

Maybe you could compromise. The kids can stay home with dad, you go and room with your parents, then your only expense would be the ticket to the show and food. Good luck!

That's what I think would be good. Since it is your side of the family, then you just go. Explain to them that you don't have $400 for all the family to go, but you would like to go. Also, ask to split the hotel with someone so you only have to pay half.

It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for your niece, it would be nice if you could be there - but explain to them you just can't afford to bring your entire family.

That was exactly what I was thinking before I scrolled down and saw the reply.

If that is not an option, sometimes it is worth it to just bite the bullet, put it on the charge card and don't look back.

Good luck.
