Are they still planning to start the 100th Birthday Celebration on Oct 1? I heard the press event was postponed too.

More then likely they will continue with it considering the amount Disney has poured into publicizing the event over the world. By October 1st, the time to grieve will have passed for some.

The press event is scheduled for Dec. 1-3. From what I heard, the Oct. 1st one was goint to confirm or denie any rumors on WDW and DL. So all the new rides will be confermed there like the new Mickey show in MK and Dragon coaster in AK.

So all the new rides will be confermed there like the new Mickey show in MK and Dragon coaster in AK. ...are you saying that plans for a dragon coaster will be officially confirmed for AK on October 1st?

According to the latest post on WDWMAGIC, the Celebration will begin as scheduled--October 1--but the press event has been canceled, and all press folk will receive such notice shortly.
We'll soon see whether this rumor is true.

I'll be at WDW Dec.1st-3rd, so if I hear anything I'll be sure to pass it along to everyone on the boards.

They will probly make a press announcement shortly before or after October 1st since that is the beginning of the new fiscal year.

The rumor is that Disney will make the statement for all the new rides, and probably show off Misson: Space. They do this to get people pumped up. They announce it in March or October, so they can advertise them durring the annual parades and holiday permotional activities.

They announced plans for Magic Carpets of Aladdin on September 29th, 2000 and plans for the 100 Years of Magic Celebration in April 2001. So those time periods you stated are correct. :)

Here is something else too, the rides come out then too. Test Track, March 4th 1999, Buzz Lightyear (soft opening) late October (I rode it then). And Mission: Space is probably going to open in March so that Disney has a new ride for the Summer season (and same for the fall rides, a new ride for the Christmass Season.)

It may be awhile till we hear of an opening month of Mission: Space since they don't want another long delay like with Test Track.
The Hall of Presidents is reopening October 1st, 2001. Timekeeper closed in April 2001. Mission: Space was announced in March 2000.
