We are due to take Amtrak to Orlando on Wednesday from Penn Sta in NYC. Anyone know if they have beefed up the security in Penn and on the train??

sorry to say this but terrorists will have a much easier time derailing a train than they will getting another plane.

I didn't want that type of opinion. I wanted facts.
Thanks for making my vacation!

Singitalto,
From what I have been hearing on the news, security is beefed up everywhere you can travel, including trains and buses. Don't pay too much attention to other badly worded comments. Enjoy your trip.

On any day, train security is never up to par with airline security............
sorry...

I also am going to Disney by Amtrak in 3 weeks. Im leaving Providence R.I. to Washington. Then another from Washington to Orlando.I decided to take a train because I wont fly.(even before this tragic event). Now Im even scared to death about a train. What I want to know is if there is any high bridges the train has to cross. Ive been waiting for this trip for a year and I dont want to dissapoint the kids or change my life because of these terrorists. If I have to worry about taking a train and throw away my dreams because of a few evil people(and I use people, lightly) I might as well move across country because Im right on the coast of New England and if we get bombed we are first to go.Yes, I empathize with you, but how long can you put off your life. There is always going to be a chance something will happen when we are on a train, plane or car.

My husband just returned from Georgia on Amtrak. I can't speak for
NY Penn Station but Newark's Penn Station was an armed camp!
Newark Police, County Police and FBI agents all over the place. I
couldn't get close to the station with the car to pick him up--he had to
walk about two blocks away so I could get to him. My assumption would
be that security would be even tighter in NY.
DH also said that police boarded the cars at their stops in D.C. and
Philadelphia.
