When I called yesterday to book my discounted MYW package, the cast member was pushing the insurance. We normally do not use it, but wondered if anyone else did. From what she was saying, it covers natural disasters or illness, but doesn't protect you from their charges for changing your reservation inside of the 45 day mark, so what is the point? What have others done? I am leaning towards calling back to cancel it, it doesn't seem to really cover much? Thoughts?

I've never used it. Especially now where as you don't pay the balance of your trip off until you arrive - What would be the point?

We never buy it. We never go during hurricane season and we've never had to worry about an illness. However, it always is in the back of my mind, the "what-ifs"...so I guess it is just a personal decision.

Here's a question, what if you were to cancel, is the insurance more expensive than the fee? I'm not sure how much the insurance is but the fee is $100 - $200 per package, that doesn't seem like an outrageous amount, but if the insurance is only $40 bucks or so then it may be worth it.

It used to be, that you could pay the balance of your room only off in advance. That's recently (and stupidly) changed.

However, it does make the decision to skip the insurance easier. I only do room only's having an AP.
