View Full Version : Isn't this the Dumbest thing you have ever heard?

I am a Sophomore in HS, and of course, I am a huge Disney fanatic. So, I was talking about my Disney obsession with some other kids I met the other day, and the first response I get is-
" Disney is so retarded! Its just little kiddy rides!"
Now, I am a real stickler for ignorance. And that is the most ignorant comment I have ever heard.
Do any people you know say the same things? We live in Florida, for Heavens Sake, and these kids dont know anything about Disney? My response back was-
"Its for little kids? What about Pleasure Island?"
And they got a blank look on their faces. I dont know...I just think you should know the subject matter before you diss someone elses favorite thing.
Comments?

Not the dumbest thing I've heard, because lord knows I've heard some really dumb things over my life, (just check the sig. hehe.), but that is stupid. If they think its just little kids rides, then yeah, they should check out pleasure island. They should also check out Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Sure it's true it isn't a "thrill park", but it's not supposed to be. That's what I hate about people when they judge disney. They are so closed minded, that they think that any amusement park is supposed to have a ton of roller coasters, and they are all disapointed when they find out there isn't, and it ruins their day. They just need to go there with a good time in mind.

When I get into one of my "I Love Disney World soooo much" rants, my friends just look at me and are like, "Dude....you aren't 7 anymore".
And it makes me mad. Some people just don't understand that Disney was not designed with only Teens in mind. It's a family place =)

See, since everyone already thinks that I'm gay, when I say I <3 disney they just assume it's another one of my oddities...
However, I don't tell my racing friends, because they all worship me... and that would be strange if they thought I was gay...

Wait wait wait...why are we talking about psychology?
No idea.....gonna stay away from that topic...psycology confuses me totally.
But anyway, yeah some people don't understand that Disney is for "big-kids" too. But hey, if older kids don't wanna go to WDW, fine! Shorter line wait times for us! :rotfl:

No i heard alot dummer things than that. Like for example: some one said "can vegitarians eat meat ?" (i swear that happen it came from somewhat highly intelligent person) and other thing like that but since my whole class KNOWS that i am a disney fanatic and i start sing disney songs in class for no reason, also having usless disney facts for no reason. i always tell people how they are missing out and start discribe more of the older people rides and such. Of couse, they get mad at me when talking about disney to me and saying disneyland insted of disney world or magic kingdom, i have to correct them. i think it is quite fun to annoy the hell out of people upon this stuff. :earboy2:

I hate it when people automatically assume that Disney is a place for little kids. Everyone in my class thinks I'm a freak already, since I'd rather read a good book than play sports or talk to friends, so when I write 14-page essays on Disney World insisting that it's for teens and adults, too, they just ignore it. I swear, I would like to see their faces when they ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. Let them call it a little kid place then!

me and all my froshie-disney-freak friends (me and my friend cassie) wrote a newspaper article,MLA paper, and play on the joys of disney for teens and adults...and we got
newpaper (journalism class)-110!!! go cassie
MLA paper- 99 (due to the fact it was "off topic" disney is a company!)
Short Play-120..because the teacher is a fellow disney freak..and i mean seeing me in my gold mickey ears and my jasmine costume...c'mon...there isnt anything better!
so yeah..then we got laughed at cuz those freaks think that we're freaks so then we just left..and watched Hurcles....yes...we are sooooo mature!

My teacher was telling us about how we were going to write a project, and she told us about how Disney's moto was "The happiest place on earth." Everyone starting saying "DisneyLand is scary! Ewwwwwww" I just rolled my eyes.

I know what you all mean, b4 i left disney (a couple weeks ago, beginning of oct.) i was so excited and kind of bragging but they were all like oo disney (in a snobbish way) are you going to universal or seaworld, i was like no we like disney. and they were like oo well disney is a little kids place and i said it is fun pretending to be a little kid in some parks but in like MGM i don't see my 7 year old cousin or 10 year sister going on tower of terror or rockin roller coaster???? i mean you go there and you will never want to leave. some people just have the nerve to say things like this!!!

Yes, I think that if people say " Disney is for kiddies." We should take them to Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, and Rockin Roller Coaster. Then see what they say about disney

Disney Dad lurker here. Just wanted to pop in and warn you that you'll hear that for the rest of your life. As adults, we still hear it all the time. "Oh....you're going to Disney...aren't your kids a little old for that??" I explain that no, they're not, and for that matter we love it as much as they do!
But some people will never "get" WDW. Also, keep in mind some of the kids who make those comments are secretly jealous that THEY don't ever go to WDW.

well-said.
I'm sure the crack about Disney only being for "kiddies" is not the dumbest thing I have heard, but it is pretty dumb. Disney is a fun, relaxing retreat, and a great place to spend time w/ loved ones. There is something for everyone there. And who cares if you do the "kiddie" stuff, too? Only truly mature people can let loose and act like a kid again w/o a care for what people think, only that you are having f-u-n ! In my humble opinion, anyone who doesn't enjoy WDW needs some kind of therapy. ;)
Ok, I know I'm preaching to the choir here and will get off my soap box. But it feels good to put it all into print. :flower:
