Anyone hear of these? 0r ever use them? I called doc for a relaxant and this is what he gave me. Will it help? Totally wipe me out? I need to still be in control of my 9yr old.

Hi,

this is the generic name for Xanax. It's for anxiety and just doesn't let you feel anxious, it's usually given in .05 mg which is the lowest dose. If using it specifically for a plane ride, the doctor will have you "piggyback" a couple of doses if you're used to taking this drug, they'll give you the instructions on how much, how many hours before the flight, etc...it shouldn't make you sleepy if just .5 mg, but more than that could just a tad. Have a great trip!

I took Xanax once and it wiped me out, not a normal reaction I was told, you might want to try one before you go so you will know.

I'd hope you try it before, or take it hours before you fly. If it wipes you out anyway, at least you can start to get over the groginess while you travel.

I take Xanax and do not like to feel zonked so I just take 1/2 pill (I know they are small but they can be cut). Works very well, just relieves the tense feeling and then if I need another 1/2 I can take that when needed. I'll be using them on my next trip in Oct.

pas 2 - trying not to be nosy - but in order not to be zonked what dose is the pill you take half of? I was given .25 mg tabs. And prescript said take 1/2 to 1 tab 102 hrs before flight.

to imgoingtodisney--prescription is .25mg (to take 1 pill 3x/day). I have never used more than the equivalent of more than 1/day even when I was facing a root canal! This amount just helps me calm myself. I am very sensitive to meds and get woosie even on asprin. Hope this is helpful.

DW's were .5 mg ....probably explains why they were so potent.
