I don't know about anyone else, but I'm intrigued now! ;)

I'm pretty sure it was going to be a 'Steve Appreciation Thread' and I'm quite glad it has been changed, I'd get very embarrassed, being the shy type I am :D

It was actually a response to a thread on the UK community board which will affect us a lot but I decided it wasn't my place to post it here. Now do your detective bit if you're still intrigued!!! ;)

I saw that thread this morning. Wonder who will be taking over????I don't know but it would have been nice to have been informed. If we have to lose our lovely Karen I really hope we do get a replacement and don't go back to the previous situation where no moderator took any apparent interest or posted for months on end.

Presumably they have approached someone to take over but they've had to keep quiet about it? That's if its a regular on this board, which personally I think it should be. If it's not I've got a black mark with the new mod already!

Ahh right, I see now. The new mod should definitely be a regular to this board, it wouldn't make sense to make it anyone else!!

Blimey - I just read that too! Can't Karen still be moderator here? This pace doesn't need that much attention and SimonV is a moderator at both.

Here's something I have always wanted to ask, aside from the obvious (removing offensive posts etc) what exactly do the mod's do?

I am sure they do plenty 'behind the scenes' to keep the boards as nice as they are, just wondered what it was!!

ITA that the moderator needs to be someone who posts here regularly. Rob & Simon hardly ever post here and there could be an all out catfight and they'd never know! This isn't a criticism of them but I feel we do need a moderator who is visible. Like Illuminations UK I'm not quite sure what the moderators do, but it's nice to see the moderator on here regularly so that if there is a problem, it will be sorted quickly.

Karen - could you let us know what the role entails, there may well be people on here who would consider being the new moderator but are not sure what it would entail.

Hello Everyone,

I'm so sorry you found this out from the post on the UK Community Board :(

I did of course know this was happening, but not exactly when or I would of course have let you know first.

The new idea is that Mods will look after one board only and any "sub" boards that go with it - for example, UK Trip Planning has UK Trip Reports has a sub board. Lots of Mods had more than one board and the Webmasters decided it would be better for the boards to have the absolute focus of Mods by not giving them the responsibility of multiple boards.

There is another post I will post here which gives some more information but I have just literally logged on and seen the situation, so wanted to post here to9 try and address it.

As to who the new Mod for the DLP board will be, that I can't tell you! I would hope it would be a regular here too as the main idea is that the Mods of each board are passionate supporters of their board. So, for me - while I love DLP - and I really do - WDW is my first love and that is why I think I can be more helpful on UK Trip Planning. There are people here who are far more knowledgeable about DLP then me ;)

As to what a moderator does? Well we are all different. But for me it's about welcoming new people, trying to get people answers even when you don't know them yourself (by bumping threads etc) and keeping the board ticking over. This means you have to read every single new post and let me tell you, it takes some work :)

If you have any questions I will try to help, as I hope I always try to.

Once again I am so sorry that you found out like this. I would far have preferred telling you myself!

Thanks for reading this.

Karen

No need to apologise, you haven't done anything wrong and it's completely understandable that you want to be a MOD of a board which covers something you love even more than DLRP - wow, imagine that!

You'll still be posting here as a pleb like us, and that's all that matters really. :)

Steve - I most certainly will!

Oh Karen, we will miss you SOOOOOOOOOOO much!!!!! You've been a great moderator and, more than that, a good friend to us all.
I know you must have felt as upset as I certainly did to read this on another board before you had time to tell us yourself.
I do think it's vitally important to have a mod who is actively involved and you are the only 1 of the 3 DLP board mods who participates. Do you have any say in who your replacement will be? You know who's passionate about DLP and participates a lot - there are some excellent candidates that I can think of - so I hope they consult you first and above all I hope we do get a replacement (rather than reverting to the previous situation where nobody looked at "our" board at all to regulate the content) and just to be a friendly presence who you know you can rely on.
I really hope you continue to be part of "our" board!!!

I think you've done a wonderful job on this board, but I also know that you will be a great asset to the WDW trip planning board. As you say, it's definitely your thing!!! ;) :goodvibes

Karen

Just logged on and seen this thread. I'm sorry to hear the news but understand why you want to be involved on the other board. I have not been on here very long compared to most of the posters but you made it a very warm and friendly place. You made everyone welcome and even enquired about people when they hadn't been on the board for a while. Some times its nice to know that you have been missed :goodvibes I just hope that whoever takes over will follow your lead. I'm sure that if it is any of the regulars to this board it will remain a very warm, friendly and "safe" place to visit, without fear of being "attacked":)

Karen, no need to apologise. I'm sure everyone appreciates the position you are in and knows that your heart will always have a bit of the DLP board in it.

Karen,

I fully understand your position and agree that you've nothing to apologise for.

Who decides who the new mod will be? Could we have a vote as to who we would like it to be perhaps?

Joanne

Well I take it this is in regard to the post I made on the UK Community Board then.

The changes happened overnight by the webmasters and could be seen on the main forums page. There was no timeline to post this information, therefore we were asked as moderators to post it on each of our boards when we logged on. This isn't a paid job and when each of the moderators log on (whatever time that will be) they will cascade the news to the boards concerned.

I do hope that one of the members of the DLP Board will possibly be able to contribute as a mod here.
