I am very excited to say that I was able to get tickets for the Fantasmic Balcony seating on November 22 this morning thanks to the great advice I got here. I think it was especially helpful that I used the direct reservation line instead of the Disney Dining line. I would never have known that without reading these posts! Now I have a question. The CM who took my order said that there were 11 seats left when I called. Am I correct to understand that when we go to be seated we will be seated in the order we purchased our tickets? If that is the case, does anyone have an idea where that will position us on the balcony? I am sort of hoping it lands us right in the middle. Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

Fantasmic is a show on the Rivers of America and it is supposed to be amazing. I have not seen it yet. According to the posts here, it is very crowded and people start staking out their viewing spots hours ahead of time. Since I will be travelling with just my two kids, I really didn't want to have to try and hold a spot for hours before the show, so I purchased tickets in one of the reserved viewing areas. One is the balcony which is supposed to offer the best view. There are around 21 seats and they serve a dessert buffet. Tickets are pricey at $56 per person, but I figured it would be worth it just this once. The second viewing area has riverfront seating. Tickets are $56 for adults and $46 for kids and you get a box of desserts. This is supposed to offer great viewing as well, but not quite as good as the balcony. It was a splurge, but I want this to be a fun trip and I find having to fight crowds for a viewing position and waiting on a spot for two to three hours to be too stressful.

You will have a WONDERFUL view! We sat up there in Feb 04 and had a perfect view without the wait! Had the prices been a little lower we would be sitting up there with you on the 22! We decided to splurge on a family tour this trip instead. I'll wave to you from the crowd down below!

Hi!
I just booked yesterday for Nov. 21st and think I got the last remaining seat (I'll be a party of 1 that day). My back-up day was the 22nd.....so, we were almost balcony mates! You may have it a bit better as far as crowds go; Mondays are supposed to more crowded than Tuesdays, but then again, with that being Thanksgiving week, I'm not sure what the impact of vacationers will be.
Hope you have a fabulous trip! :earsboy:

Thanks for sharing my excitement. There are some great pictures of the dessert buffet in this post from the Trip Report board. Just click on his site and go to day 16 of the poster's August 2005 trip report and you will find the pictures. The desserts look yummy!

If you are staying at the Disneyland Resort hotels you can have Vacation Planning try and get the balcony seating.

If you get the tix on your own, you need to call the Ticket # (714) 781-4400. They open at 8:00am Pacific, and with credit card in hand you can make reservations. The Dessert Balcony sells out quickly. There are two shows, and 21 seats for each show.

Good luck. :)

Ok here is my experience...You never know where you will be sitting with Fantasmic. I can say that from experience. My friend when she called and ordered her tickets back in June for a July show and was told that she got the last 5 out of 6 tickets available for that show. She went expecting the back row right? She got front row. So we thought that maybe when you showed up had something to do with it too...

Then when WE went in September, since vacation planning got it for us (party of 8) I had no idea where we were. When we showed up, I noticed I was the next to last party on the list (and alot of smaller parties in front of us)....dang!
But when we were seated, we were front and center! So I have NO CLUE what to expect anymore when it comes to seating. The guy working at the Disney Gallery said that alot of people are very disappointed because they all hear from the operators, "You got the first tickets today!" or "There are ____ tickets left" and it could be entirely wrong....just be prepared for anything!!!! :teeth:

Ya, apparently for balcony seating it is first come, first seat. For the priority seating (chairs below) it is first call, best seats.

Also if you are calling the direct number start calling a few minutes early. I kept hitting redial and actually got through at like 7:58 am.

I actually thought it was just the opposite. It was my understanding that the balcony seating was based on your order of purchase and the riverside seating was done on the basis of when you check in. Does anyone who has been know the answer to this?

We hope to get tickets for Dec 10th, I did not realize there was a direct numer you can call to book the ressie. Can anyone share that number with me? Thanks! Also we are staying in a DL property, do you have a better chance at getting ressies if you go through vacation planning? What number do you call for that?
Thanks again!

They seem to do the balcony seating different ways. I have done it 3 times. The first time it was first come, best seats. Then it was first call, best seats. Then the last time I did it they seated the first call first but not in the best seats. Actually it was some of the worst seats. So it really seems to depend on who is working that night.

We were in the middle as far as when we called. We checked in first. We ended up with the worst seats! Our family was separated as far as where we ended up being seated and None of us could see much. DH,with baby, and 1 son on 1 end behind a pole and Me and the other 2 kids in back row other side behind a group of adults, the kids couldn't see over them. Who knows how they figure out the seating? They can't even seat a family together! All I know is I wouldn't want to pay that kind of money to find out I'm being seated based on the whims of the people working that night. :confused3 This is one of those things where you just have to hope for PD :wizard: or save the money and sit elsewhere. I know others have had positive experiences so it seems to be a gamble. I'm thinking of trying the lower level where at least 4 out of the 6 of us get a discount. We'll just have to see how the seating there works first.
