I used the original tape runner (the one you had to "feed" w/ your finger) and disliked it, but I *loved* the new self-contained design. Now they've switched to this new design and as much as I love the adhesive, it's just not working for me! It doesn't alway feed properly and I seem to have a lot of waste. Any ideas? could I just have gotten a bad batch (I buy it by the case) Anyone else having problems?

BTW, I recently taught a class and had a variety of adhesives and the CM was the least favorite. :(

How new is the "new" one you're talking about? I've had mine for over a year & it looks like the one they have on their site today:

I've seen a lot of people have "missed" segments on the paper "tail", but really haven't had that problem. Of course I'm so cheap that even when I find segments on the CMC's I use a pair of tweezers & pull them off to use them.

DDIL has the missing segments sometimes, but she uses it much faster than I do...she says I make her nuts because I do everything so paifully slowly! :rotfl2:

Yes, that's the "new" one. Most of the time it just lays down the adhesive and then I have to pull on the "tab" to peel it off. The students also did NOT like the "paper trail" and the bother of pulling it off. I much preferred the self-feeding design and I frequently use one I can get from my own SB company now, but I just like the CM *adhesive* better.

That is the tape runner that I use and I haven't had any problems with it. I have been meaning to order some refills, but if they changed something since then I might wait on it.

Are you keeping your finger on the tape? I find lots of peolpe do that. Make sure the tape runs over your pointer finger. Also make sure that there isn't any small pieces of tape stuck under the cover. I hope this helps you. Nancy

and so do most of my friends. We do love their adhesive though. I liked the old style much better. But whats a girl to do.

I did recently try Stampin Ups Snail and its refills. Loved them. They are continuous feed, and lay down a clear snail like trail. Love it for letters and such.

So anyway its not you, and its not your batch. Its just the way they work. I have been using them since they changed them a year and half ago.

I"ve recently switched to the Duck brand from Walmart, and I really like it.

No, I broke that habit with the self-feed! Sometimes it rolls beautifully and more times not. :( I do find that I'm using my tweezers a lot to get the bits that are getting stuck. I'm bummed...I want the old (well, not the OLD, old) style back!

I have seen the "in between" style tape runners on ebay going for 80.00 for 6 of them.....ouch! If someone is willing to pay that much they must really miss them.

I wasn't getting what you meant by the paper trail until I read more responses and then looked at my tape runner. I do keep my finger on the tape to keep it tight. If I am doing more than a small spot I keep lifting my finger up and then pull down on the tape as I am running the tape (kind of like a stroking motion, I don't know how else to describe what I do). I now do this without being conscience of what I am doing and like I said I use it with no problems. Once in a while the tape gets stuck, but I find that is when I do not keep the tape tight, and it rarely happens anymore.

hope it works for me as I used to love the CM tape runner.

What Twigs said! ::yes:: That's how it was demo'd to me & it's how I use it. If I don't keep the tape taut, I find the adhesive doesn't really come off. The whole tape thing seems to retract if you don't do something to prevent it. :confused3 I also find that I have to press the tape runner to the paper rather hard at times to get the little strips to actually come off the sheet.

Gee.... I don't think I keep my finger on the waste paper trail and I don't usually hve any trouble. I just bought my CM tape runner this past winter and I am very happy with it. My Dotto is such a piece of CRAP. I kick myself for not returning it immediately. I wish there was a good OTC adhesive product. I don't mind buying from CM, but it is not always convenient. I ordered 5 tape refills most recently because I didn't know when I would have an opportunity to order again!...................P

THis is what I am going through. I currently do not have a CMC. The one I found 1 1/2 years ago just stopped selling, and she was soo convenient, she lived very close to me. Now I have to find a new one for my tape runner refills. I have been thinking of trying something new, but I really like that adhesive.

There are many CM products that I like & use but adhesive is not one of them. Personally - I'll take the Duck adhesive ($8.50 for a 4 pack at WM) or the Tombo Mono Adhesive (easiest to refill - best price usually online).

I agree the Dotto is crap now that it's owned by EK Success (The old German Hermifix rocked).

I find I have to open mine up after awhile and use some undo on the end tip. It does seem to stick a lot. Must say I don't use it as much as the old style. I like my hermifix tabs. Jsut wish they weren't so big!

It did take me a couple uses to get used to the new one but I now havbe no problems. You definetly need to keep your finger off the paper trail though. I use the paper trail only when I am trying to only get one piece. I love that it is a refill since it is cheaper!
