I am in desperate need of some help. My dd's beloved blankie has developed a big whole in it and she is devistated. I don't know how to fix it. I was hoping to find someone through the DIS that would be able to fix it for her. I would be willing to ship it to you and pay you to fix it. Here is a picture of the damage. Actually, if you look at the picture you can kind of tell that there is a knot in the yarn. When you untie the knot the whole is about 4x6. The blanket was her baby blanket and it's very dear to her. I would hate to take it from her because she loves it so. HELP!!!!!

I would recommend that you check in your yellow pages for the nearest knitting/yarn store in your area and bring the blanket in. Perhaps the store can recommend a person local to you so that your DD isn't away from her blanket for too long. You may find the sales clerk may be a knitter herself/himself and offer to fix it for you on the spot.

I think you may be right! She is very upset and I just don't know what to do. Knitting isn't something that you find many people can do and do it well.
Thanks!

Another thought (if you can't find a local shop) would be to check with your school's Community Education program. Ours offers knitting classes every semester and there a 2 different people who teach the classes. Someone like that might be willing to do it for you as well.
