For those who don't know, I have been a Hospice RN for the last 13 years. I actually started scrapping as a form of relaxation and stress relief. I would always joke with my Social Worker colleague that I wanted to attend her Children's Bereavement Group just to do the crafts! The children in the groups :grouphug: have all lost a loved one - mother, father, friend, sister, brother, grandparents, etc.

I brought in a few of the CJ's I am working on and it gave Sheila (CSW) the idea to do a small scrapbook with each child (age 5-9) as a group activity....We plan on making 'books' by cutting 6X6 squares, using a punch and tying 4 pages with ribbon...she especially liked the 'tags' from the CJ's as she now does an activity that uses index cards - and this can easily translate to 'bookmark' tags,,,,so we will be doing a pocket page as well as picture and journal pages. For this age group, I think a glue stick would be the easiest for them to handle.

She is buying supplies but then I though of you .......

Would anyone like to donate a few items that would fit in an envelope?
My thoughts were 'punched' shapes - hearts, circles, fall leaves, squares....or shapes from those fancy machines you all have that might look nice in a Memory book?

Also, scraps of paper to accent the pages - or light color shapes to journal on?
Colored papers to mount photos on.....
Extra Stickers.....alphabet or others.
Tags - all sizes and shapes......

Any other suggestions welcomed :sunny:

The beauty of this project is that if the child attends the next session of the group...they can add to their book without a problem...

I have slabs and stacks of patterned paper that I will NEVER use! I would be glad to send some your way and I will send more than a 37 cent envelope worth...

I would be also glad to WishBlade some names for you if you wanted to personalize the cover of each book.

Let me know what type of PP (colors, patterns) you are looking for.
I think Sheila was thinking of fall colors and patterns but as this will probably be an ongoing project...all donations are welcomed.

I will check with Sheila and get a list of names - that would be soooooo cool to personalize the books that way!

OOPS. Missed the "fall color" idea on your original post. Been punching out while trying to homeschool, and it's all sorts of fun colors. Hope you'll be able to use this stuff at some point! :)

Whew!

I was able to go back while the kids were doing some school and punch out some more things that were more "fall colors." Unfortunately, I've got to take the kids to play rehearsals in just a little bit, so my life is getting crazy!! I, literally, will be running back and forth downtown (30 minutes away) at least 5 times a week from now until mid-December. So I'm afraid the Sizzix has gone away and I'll ship out what I have to you tomorrow. Hope it helps!

I sent fall leaves, and fall squares then everything else I could stuff into the bag was whatever color I had, or had already punched. Hope that was ok.

Pat - are you looking for some items punched with CM punches -Cirlces,Squares, Hexagons, Hearts, Leaves, Stars & Micros?? my cousin is a consultant and has all the punches ? if so let me know and I will get a whole bunch punched for you when I go to her crop on Tuesday 10-25 and send them right out to on 10-26 .. Let me know what you had in mind for colors -- I have TONS of papers (plain, patterened - boy girl - I have a paper addiction LOL) Michelle
Really anything will do.....since we are going into the cool weather, fall & winter colors...primary colors are great...The groups are mixed, boys ::MickeyMo and girls ::MinnieMo ages 5ish to 10/11....The little leaves are beautiful that Cindy sent....WOW.

This sounds like a great project for me and DS to do. He loves "scrapbooking" with me, and using the punches and sizzlets, etc. I love the idea. I'll pm you for the address. Me and DS will work on it next week, if that's okay. (he's at his fathers this weekend). I love the idea, thanks for being so thoughtful!

I went through all my stuff and punch a ton of hearts and stars. PLus I had a ton of beige card stock in different sizes for journaling. I also found some stickers that were mostly used, but still had one or two. I sent a bunch of smaller pieces of card stock for whatever. I also found some kit things I will never use.

I will be mailing Monday 10/24. Look for the fat package.

BTW, this way great for me to go through my stash of scraps and get rid of the scraps I have had for several years and will never use but would feel guilty to just throw away.

I just got back and read this post. Part of my plan for the rest of my vacation is to organize my scrap stuff, so I can definitely put some stuff together for you by the end of this week. I think I have a lot of "leftovers" - stickers, etc. if that's okay.

Ok I fill silly now. Last Friday 10/21 my sister and I punched squares and tags and I put them in the envelope and got everything ready to go with a stamp and all. However I go to pay the bills last night and sitting in the incmoing mail pile is my envelope. I guess I missed the putting it in the mail box stage on my way out of town last Saturday. It is already in the mailbox today and will be on its way to you.

This is such a great thing you are doing. Make sure to let us know if you need anything else.

Just an update!

THANKS to everyone who sent a donation.... :grouphug:

Kids started the scrapping last week.....2 groups with a total of 26 ages 5 thru 17.......

They really are having fun and sharing happy memories while scrapping - tomorrow night their parents/guardians will join them.

I put a pocket in the back of each book that will hold a tag and an index card that they will share thought on.....

It is a great project...I will be posting some pictures of the finished products next month......

Grayfal, I'm so sorry, but I've slipped behind, and I still don't have all my things ready to send. Will it be okay to send when you get back from your trip? I have plenty that I can mail out to you, I just need the time myself to get it done.
