Hi

I have run out of ink in my printer and wont have time to grab any.

When you check in on line do you need to print anything out?

Thanks

I don't think you need to print anything. You get your boarding cards when you drop your bags off.

This is from the VA website:

Q How does online check in work?
A Select DIY Check In from the Manage Your Flights (http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/faq/;jsessionid=CdkGhCvwftFvGvVlLfhvXjythwDgnyy1L6jGwg 9l3ZqgCf9CJW6N%211045384196) menu. You will be asked to enter your booking reference or e-ticket number, first name, surname and flight details. You will have the opportunity to identify any of your travel companions you wish to check in with. Please ensure you have the entire group’s passports or passport details to hand, as you will need these to complete check in. Your check in confirmation page will contain instructions on what to do once you arrive at the airport, links to view and amend your seats (for most users), any special instructions for each passenger and links to more useful information.

Q What do you do once you arrive at the airport?
A On arrival at the airport, please go directly to the DIY Check In Bag Drop desk to collect your boarding documents and check your bags in. This must be completed at least 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight. Passengers who have failed to drop their bags and collect their boarding pass by this time will not be able to travel.

Please ensure all passengers bring their passports, tickets or e-ticket receipts, and other relevant documentation.

The Bag Drop desk is located at the Virgin Atlantic check in area and our airport staff will be happy to point you in the right direction should you have difficulty locating it.

Please be advised that your allocated seats may occasionally have to be changed at the airport for operational reasons.

Please note the Kiosks do not print boarding cards for customers who have used online check in. Boarding cards for online customers can only be obtained from the Bag Drop currently.

Tim is right - a printer is not necessary (but I always print out the online check-in confirmation page anyway just for my own peace of mind).

Can I do online check in and then drop my bags later that day at twilight check in? Rather than wait until the morning?

We need to online check in as I reserved 8 seats together last year and for reasons too long to go into 5 of our party have been unseated so I need to check in as early as possible to get 8 seats together.

Unfortunately not. The online check-in bag drop opens just a few hours prior to your flight. The evening-before drop-off can only be used if you make use of twilight check-in at Gatwick.

Oh - I'm sure I read on here you could do both... hmm think I'll just stick with the twilight check in as I really don't want to lug my cases all the way to the airport hotel and then back again... although if we held onto them we wouldn't have to keep our pjs and travelling clothes in our hand luggage... oh decisions decisions!!!!!
