I would also be open to emails or PMs from anyone who needs support. I may not have all the answers, I may not have even a fraction of the answers, but what I do have is a heart ready to hug and pray where needed.

Yes, please do talk to somebody. I was in high school when the Branch Dividians burned their compound down, and I know that was devestating. I can't imagine how hard this must be on all of you younger people.

It's really nice to know that there are many DISers here to help.
I first heard the news about this on my way to lunch today, when I met up with one of my friends, he told me that an airplane hit the WTC Towers. I really did not know what to feel. As we were at school today, we really didn't know exactly what was going on. The teachers would talk about it among themselves, but really wouldn't say anything to us about it. During study hall, I was able to get on-line, and see what CNN had to say. That is when I found out that there was really more to the story than I knew. Everyone crowded around the computer as we watched a live feed.
I think the best way to describe this situation from a "kid's" point of view is 'confused.' Basicly, the question is 'why?' Well, at this point, we really don't know why, or even who did it. It is just going to be hard to deal with. I know tomorrow will be a difficult day at school, as everyone will be so unsure about everything.
It was so scary. I live close to NY in new jersey, and it was all over the news. It was like it really wasnt happening but you knew it was. We watched it all live b/c theres cable in the school, and the worst part was watching people jump out of the windows. You knew they were going to die anyway if they stayed in the building. A lot of people didn't know what was going on in the same building the fighter jet flew into b/c they just knew about the 767 that flew into the first building. We watched it all happen; the commuter plane, the fighter jet, the twin towers collapse, and part of the pentagon collapse. And I think something happened to the capital building. I know this kid who's dad was going to the WTC this morning. At 8:30, they told him he didn't have to go, and at 8:45 a boeing 767 flew into the same building he was supposed to be in. A lot of irony today too. There is only one wall of the south building left standing, and the floor above where the concourse used to be is gone, so you could see down this big sink hole. There were things from people's desks; pens pictures, briefcases- all over the street. It was just black with ashes and smoke. I can't believe the buildings are still smoking from this morning. My friend Maggie's uncle is a firefighter in NY, and we heard that a firefighter died. I don't know if it was him or not though. A lot of people in my classes are like why did Israel do this? It wasn't (I'm pretty sure), it was the Palestinians. At this summit a few days ago, Palestine said some bad things to Israel, and b/c the US is and Israelie alli, both countries left.
but can you imagine standing at your window in your nice office in the Twin towers, and you're watering your plants and you look up and there is a plane right in front of you and you know you're going to die? My dad works 9 miles from Manhattan in NJ across the river and you could see it all from there.
We still have to go to school tomorrow, and we didnt get out early today, but we didn't have after school activities.
I saw this on the CB, but I saw it on tv too. The newscasters were showing these kids dancing in the streets with flags, and a translator was saying YEAH!! We killed americans!! I mean, how sick is that? That's what they're teaching their kids in school.
I have to go work on my homework now. I just find what is going on very childish.
:( :o
This just happened! 7 WTC just collapsed!!

Ya'll DON'T panic!!!
We will all as a global community work through this. We are a STRONG people. We will work together to help reconstruct our lives and help those families who have lost friends and family members.
What you must remember is the media blows EVERYTHING out of proportion far worse than it need be.

Ditto what Wheelsie said. If you need to talk to anyone - about anything - my e-mail account and PM box is always open. Please don't hesitate to contact anyone of us. :)

It's really nice of all the DISers here who offered to be our "moms". I really wanna thank all of you for that.
I first heard the news during my 2nd hour studyhall when our principal made an announcement about it and encouraged us to turn on our tv's and watch. So for every one of my classes today, we watched with wide eyes as both WTC buildings collapsed as well as the pentagon and the crash in PA. It's all still quite a shock but especially when the largest building in downtown milwaukee was evacuated and shut down. It was about a block or so from where both of my parents work. I didn't think anything would happen but it was still scary. And one of my friends is in DC right now, so I really hope everythings ok with him.

Thanks everyone for offering support!
I actually didn't find out about anything until my lunch period (which is at 10 am, but still) when all my friends came to lunch saying the Pentagon had been bombed. Their teachers had heard about it and told them that. But a few teachers had actually turned on the tv's in their classrooms, so some people had actually seen the second WTC tower get hit by the plane. In study hall the teacher turned on the tv so we could all see what really happened... wow. It's really weird because it was just a normal day until then. For the rest of the day we didn't do much in any of my classes, and we watched the news coverage. Even our band teacher, who can be extremely mean, took 10 minutes out of class to talk about it and explain why it was such a big deal. It was kinda scary, because at first nobody knew if there were gonna be any more attacks, and since we're in the suburbs of Columbus, all the state gov. buildings downtown were evacuated. And the plane crash in PA... that was when I first realized how real the whole situation was, because I've actually been to somerset, PA, and it's not that far away.
It's so sad... the amount of people that must have been killed... their families will remain in my thoughts and prayers...:(

Please add my name to the list of those wonderful DIS'ers above that have volunteered to listen to anyone whom would like to talk.
I really can't imagine what you might be feeling or thinking. Maybe scared, maybe confused, maybe angry.
When I was in elementary school, I remember, for several months hearing these loud alarms during the day and we were shown how to close all the classroom windows and blinds and doors and kneel out in the hallway, side by side, against the walls with our hands covering our tucked heads. It was an exercise we practiced everyday. One time we were all directed on these school buses. I always walked to school, so I had never been on a school bus. We drove out in the country for almost two hours and then we turned around and came back to school. They told us it was just a drill. I think I started to get a little scared.
Three years later, I was in the eight grade, which was my first year in high school. I remember the principal announcing that President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, had been shot, had been assassinated. Today, I felt a very similar sick, scary, angry, sad feeling.
Several years later, Martin Luther King, then Bobby Kennedy were assassinated. I was devastated. All my heros at the time in my young life. Then the Vietnam War.
We, as Americans, came through all those devastating times. I felt, truly that the world was coming to an end. It didn't. And there were so many other times that I thought that the world was coming to an end. The Civil Right's riots, etc..
I remember talking with my friends. And my friend's friends. And sometimes strangers or kids that maybe I wouldn't normally talk to. Expressing my feelings. My sad feelings. My scared feelings. My angry feelings. My hopeless feelings.
I think that I felt better. At least I didn't feel alone.
So, we will survive this , too. You, me and everyone.
So talk with someone.
Or write your feelings out on paper.
There are many good people here and your parents, and friends are even better.
We love you, we care about you, we will be here for you.
Sincerely, Ray :)

I just like to say something i remebered while reading this thread. I was at Disney World at the Horse Shoe Revue on memorial day and the piano player sang/played 'Born in the USA' (which Rajah now has on his signiture) in a very moving way.. wow it just made me think of happier times and how ignorant and protected and i am. (and i really think i was lucky to be protected for so long.. and soo safe now that this has happened)

The Government just released that about 800 people are presumed dead at the Pentagon today due to the tragic crash of the hijaxed airplane. Some survivors have been found alive at the World Trade Center buildings as well.

Well, I know a number of the folks from your Teen Board (and a few from the CB too) have taken me in the past as their sort of cyber-dad already. I have always welcomed and enjoyed that. If any of you would wish to pm, email or icq, please do. I have 'talked' to a number of folks yesterday and always have time to lend an ear, or a big shoulder (even a tissue now and then to wipe an eye or blow a nose). Don't hesitate to reach out to me, any other 'older' person who has posted here, and/or importantly, each other here on your Teen Board. It is a time to cry if you want (does wonders for your mind and soul, BTW), reach out to each, along with your folks and teachers. and ask questions. Any feelings you have are fine, even if you don't understand why you feel the way you do. Even us 'big folks' are, at times, having a tough time trying to make sense of something which can only be said to be senseless. But we do have some years behind us that sometimes helps us help young folks like you.
Remember, we are here for you, all of us. Wish I could give you all a {hug} today.

From this side of the Atlantic, I can only offer my deepest sympathy and pledge of support to everyone in the aftermath of this tragedy. Remember, you have to go back to the last World War for a similar situation, so not many people will have any experience of dealing with this, so it is important everyone rallies round to offer support. This community can play a part in that. We all care, and want to help where we can.
God be with you all,
Simon

I already posted to this thread, but just HAD to say again how much it means to me to see you posting here, worried about us and wanting to help us. It's SO nice, SO admirable, SO family-like...seeing all those familiar "faces" on the CB and other boards posting over here, wanted to talk to *us* and wanting to help REALLY means something, and I just can't put into words how much it does mean...
Thanks again! We'll be OK... we're a family- we'll get through it!!! :)

I have already thanked you all once, but I feel since so many more people offered their support, I need to thank you all again. I have been devastated by this, and it has been hard because so many kids at my school do not deal with grief the way I have been dealing with it (lots of tears.) Through reading all your posts, and reading so much on the CB about this, it really has helped me to feel better - so THANKS SO MUCH for being such a great family.

Hey guys, I haven't been on the boards lately, b/c of what happend this week.... I just want to share my story about the attacks... I live in NJ and my dad works in NYC. On tues morning, my dad had a sinus headache and didn't leave for work... When he did leave, it was 9:00 and he heard about what happened on the radio and turned around and came home... I was sOoOoO scared in school b/c i didn't kno if he had gone to work or not Also, my uncle actually worked at the WTC. He was running late on tues and was just coming out from the subway under the WTC when the first plane hit. Police told him to get out and just RUN. That's what he did... I f he had been in his office (on the 101 floor) he prolly would have died. Since I live close to NYC, I kno many people who have realtives who work in NYC. A few of my friends lost uncles/aunts, but no one, thank god, lost one of their parents. yesterday in school, it was red white and blue day. Amazing, EVERYONE had red white and blue on. I mean EVERYONE. and not just a tiny bit of each color but TONS. This tragedy has really united America.
