Pumpkins Question

I have tried for the first time this year to grow my own pumpkins for Halloween, they have done ok, I have two pretty good ones, and I was just wondering if anyone knows should I cut them from the plants before we start to get frost? I don't want them to die after all of the effort that I have put into them!
