The bride ear headband or beanie? I've been leaning towards the headband but after I saw dischick4778's picture with the beanie I think I'm changing my mind. It's so adorable. :) What do you think?

I went with the headband so I could take it off on the rollercoasters easily and I liked the way it looked. I would have had to pin the beanie on.

The headband. It fit my head much better!

I got the headband (I secretly wear it around the house!)

I love the headband! I love the pastel sequins on the ears! They stay on better too!

What's the beanie look like? Where's the photo?

10-05-2005, 01:05 PM
I made my headband...

I just knew the beanie wouldn't stay on (wind, rides, etc.) so I felt the headband was a better choice.

how did you make your headband?????Please tell us.......  :rolleyes1 thanks!

Here was my choice:

Definitely comfortable and I LOVE the sequins. So cute! It felt a little more sturdy than the beanie to me as well.

Maybe you can see, but I chose the beanie. Once I saw fellow DISers getting their beanies embroidered and decorated I knew I had to have it. The pinning wasn't hard, just 4 bobby pins and voila it stayed on!

I bought a regular white fabric-covered headband at Wal-mart or Target (where-ever) and bought the extra thick white craft foam, glitter, and irridescent sequin trim at Joann Fabrics.

I traced my old Minnie ears for the shape and cut the ears out of the white foam (it was about 1/4 inch thick). Then I covered them in glue and glitter and let them dry. Then I hot glued the irridescent sequin trim around the edge of the ears and then hot glued the ears to the headband.

I also got some tulle from Joann's and cut a piece for the "veil" and hot glued it to the headband (between the ears) as well.

You could make it more fancy or simple as you choose. Mine was very simple, and fun, only took a few minutes (most of the time was for the glitter/glue to dry) and cost quite a bit less than $16. I did have to buy DH's hat though! ;)

Thanks for the help! I'm going with the headband. Now for the big problem, how to get FDH to wear his top hat. I don't think he will. Party pooper. He says he doesn't want to look stupid. I told him not to worry because I'd be taking care of that for him. ;) :p

The beanie is very cute, but my hair is too thick and my head is too big for it. :) I have the headband.

Sorta the same idea as hiwaygal but took the ears off the beanie and attached them to a white plastic headband that I bought at target. This was the tricky part. FDH took one of his tools from the garage and drilled holes into the headband. If you've never noticed before, they are just attached with kinda like eyelet looking things. I then attached some tulle and went with the same idea as the headband but I got my ears personalized when we were down there last. I'll have to take a picture of them and post it when I get the chance.

Evilina- You should post a pic of you wearing them!!! Did you make them....how?

10-08-2005, 02:01 PM
In the next few, everyone on here will get tired of seeing pictures of me! We leave in 5 days! As for the headband, yes I did make them and it was quite easy. My previous post explained how to do it. It's easy! :earsgirl:

Is there a reason on why you decided to make them yourself instead of just buying them other then wanting to personlize them?

10-08-2005, 04:36 PM
Actually . . . .ummmm the personalization was the main reason. But then I also liked the fit of this headband. <-- I have a BIG head :teeth:

I might need to make mine...I have a big head :teeth: Will it stay on the rides?

thanks for the pic's and directions!!!! have fun! :cool1:

It has a pretty nice and firm fit because the head band has little teeth. As for the rides, I dunno. . . . I don't think I would wear it on any of the mountain rides. If I were to, it would most likely be Splash Mountain for the photo op. Every other ride (besides the other mountains) I will probably be wearing it. HTH

Do you think that they could be made that way w/ the sequin ears? I really like those!

10-09-2005, 02:45 PM
I personally haven't had a good look at the other type of ears. I'll check them out when we head down there in 4 days! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

How excited are you that will be there in 4 days!!! You have to take lots of pics and post them all!!!! Hey where is your doggie going to be? My mom has a pappilon but hers is a long hair!

10-09-2005, 04:00 PM
We have 2 doggies and a friend of ours will be watching them while we are away. We can't wait! We just bought our costumes last night for MNSSHP. As for our furry kids, I spoke with multiple people about allowing our "kids" to be our ring bearers for our wedding and they were firm with the NO. I even had it all planned out in my head! We would hire someone to pick them up from the Disney Kennel and have them walk down the aisle with the rings and have a castmember waiting to take them back right after they walked down. We would have paid any amount for them to this but as I said before, I spoke with our EM, SM and even the head EM of DFTW and they said no. I'm over it now but it will always be at the back of my head when I hear they can make your every dreams come true. Well, I guess that statement is untrue. :confused3 ANYWAY! <stepping off my soapbox> We are still excited to be getting married at the Happiest Place on Earth in 9 days. :Pinkbounc :bounce: Here is a picture our Furry kids!! http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid142/p7cfe8a0d232cabf4d7ba5af7553660cc/f6b8c888.jpg

Here is a cute pair of mickey ears from Japan.

10-09-2005, 11:09 PM
I went with the beanie -- because DH had them ordered ahead of time and delivered to our room already personalized -- but we did discuss before hand which i'd prefer.

DH didn't wear his ears, because of a sizing problem (he tried, but they killed his head!!!) but it didn't seem to matter because we still got plenty of attention with just me wearing mine.

check out the trip report that DH is typing up on the Trip Report boards -- there's a picture of me in my beanie with mickey...

I went with the headband. It stayed on really well for me!
