After spending a day at Knotts Berry Farm, I was planning to go to Mrs Knotts Chicken Dinner for dinner. But.... If the lines are horrible, I need an alternate.

What can anyone suggest for dinner after a day at Knotts? We are staying at the Paradise Pier in Anaheim, so it could be anywhere between Knotts and Disneyland. Even a little out of the way would be OK as well.

Thanks....

The line for Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner will be long anyways so be prepared for that. Honestly, since you're there, I would wait in line. Unless, of course, you have kids with you that get a bit antsy and can't stand in another line. Then, by all means, look for another place to go. You do have another alternative by waiting in the to-go line as well vs. dining in. It'll probably be a long line but not as long...

I was afraid there would be a long line. :sad1: I guess they don't take reservations or call-ahead! Oh well...

... and yes, there are kids, (2) age 9 and (1) age 16. Not sure who would be more impatient!

Thanks...

With kids at that age, I say wait in line. It'll be worth it! Have a great time!

I too would wait in line. If that is not an option, I second the idea to get the food in the to go line. There are seats outside the exit to Knotts where you can eat.

The line was too long for us, but the take out counter was reasonable, and we just found an outside table.

Cheers.

Another option is to have one person stand in line (or take turns) while the others browse in the shops surrounding the restaurant. They won't seat you until your whole party is there at the front of the line, but it is fairly easy for the rest of the party to join whoever is in line.

What makes the chicken dinner so special, is it cooked a certain way? Is the chicken similar to the barbque chicken or spit roasted like the Swiss Chalet in Canada?

It's fried chicken, and it's really good. The pieces are big, and it's always juicy. Plus the mashed potatos, gravy, and bisquits are really good. I also love their chicken noodle soup. The restaurant is also great for breakfast. I've had breakfast there many more times than I've had dinner.

What day of the week are you going? If it's a weekday try taking a break and do lunch instead it's usually not as crowded. I you are going on a Sunday go a little early and do the Sunday brunch it's awesome! You won't have to eat for the rest of the day.

Man now I'm hungry!!

The claim jumper across the street would be a good back up.

I agree w/everyone else. Mrs. Knotts Chicken Restaurant is really good. However, if you do not want to deal with the line, there is a Claim Jumper restaurant on Beach Blvd. across the street from the Knotts Berry Farm entrance that is pretty good, and the portions are huge. I'd also recommend that as a back-up.

A TGI Fridays just opened in the Marketplace just outside of the theme park.

I need to be more creative than TGIF.... don't want to go to a place I can visit at home..... but thanks anyway!

We are going to hit the Medievel Time Theater after Knotts this time. We have never been before but hear it is wonderful and the food is good too. It is spendy but I've heard well worth for all ages. Just another thought!

Gotta disagree. We've eaten there twice (this summer and last summer) and both times have been quite ordinary to below average meals. I wouldn't waste your time. The biscuits literally made me gag. They were made with some kind of lard that was quite disgusting and I am not a picky eater in the least.
