I am up for this one and I am so determined to make it this month. I started September out pretty good but ended lousy. I am starting my training schedule on Monday so I have got to kick my butt in gear. Let's make it a great month everyone!! Thanks for getting this one started Cam.

Julie -- You constantly strike me as someone who strives for above and beyond and I really appreciate how much you motivate me! (I guess your kids are just like you and that's why you are a Gold Cup Mom! :teeth: )
Tammy -- I am in the same boat. Training starts Sunday and I figured (1) This will help motivate me to do even more than the MFM Walk The Half schedule requires (at least the early weeks look do-able!); and (2) Having some accountability not to leave it all until the end will help right from day 1. We'll motivate each other!
Hi, Tracy! Your countdown looks so exciting! Keeping up with this challenge this month is going to mean you'll need new shorts for when you see Mickey! :goodvibes:
Welcome, MonkeyPants & Mom2Cinderella! So glad to have you on-board.

Actually, Cam, Gold Cup is the name of the gymnastics club DS competes for. I ran their gymnastics meet for 4 years and needed a name for some IM for other coaches to get ahold of me, and it stuck. I'm just not creative!

I believe that is the one I'm using also. I had it sent to me, does yours start with 2, 3, 4, 5 mile walks by weeks? Resting on Wed & Sun? Just curious to which one you are following. If you have a chance could you email the one you are using (kmwcdw@bellsouth.net)?

Tammy -- I actually took John's Walk the Half Schedule and put it all on a consolidated calendar in WordPerfect so that I can have it all at hand in one place. I will email that calendar to you (one page for each month leading up to the half), if you can open wordperfect. Just let me know.

Sorry, everyone, for taking so long to get here to update. I am working on getting all the challengers entered and getting numbers updated. If I have missed you or if I haven't updated your number, please send me a PM or drop a line here and I'll fix it.
I did a 60 minute walk yesterday (almost 3 miles, but very leisurely) and walked home from the grocery store. Then trailed around after the marching band last night carrying all sorts of stuff for the girls! Such fun, but I don't count it or the walking up and down stadium steps a zillion times. Oh, or all the  :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cool1: when our band won its division and SWEPT all four specialty awards, including BEST COLORGUARD. My pleasure, Paul (and everyone else who has made me feel very appreciated)! I LOVE updating the numbers. You guys may not know me, though -- I have been known to track down challengers to urge them to report in :rotfl: to the challenge I ran. PMs work great for that!
Looks like we are up to 40 challengers! I'd LOVE to have a record number of challengers here and a record number of exercise minutes for the month. So, feel free to go out and round up your friends and bring them to the party!

Good morning, everyone! Wow! Look at all those minutes we've added. I am so happy for everyone!
Unfortunately, my MFMWTH training schedule says it's a rest day, so I won't be adding any minutes today. Actually, I am kind of relieved. I have now learned the hard way that ab crunches are not a good cross training choice for someone prone to an inflamed sacroiliac joint. The pain & spasms in my back this morning were enough to have me literally rolling out of bed and walking hunched over to the nearest bottle of advil. UGH! So, a rest day is welcomed!

Yikes Cam, I don't know what a sacroiliac joint is, but it sounds painful! Be careful and don't injure yourself!!!
Thanks, sweetie! Actually, I didn't know what it was either, until I went to the doctor in August in excruciating pain. Put simply, it is the joint where the pelvic bone meets the spine. Apparently there is potentially a lot of strain on that joint from walking or jogging if the opposing muscles in the abdomen aren't strong enough to hold you upright. I pulled a stupid human trick on Tuesday by doing 40 ab crunches and my back has been screaming ever since. The spasms have subsided and I was able to get out of bed and stand upright this morning! :cool1:
Well, this morning, I did my 30 minutes walking and then stride/form drills for the MfMWtH plan -- 45 minutes total, including warm up, etc., bringing me to 165/1000.
WOW! Everyone is doing so great! Welcome, Rizel! I hope your treadmill becomes your new best friend -- be sure to use some great music or watch tv while you are treading the mill -- it makes time go so much faster!

Hey, Jen! I know it is really hard with the schedule you keep. Are you counting all your marching minutes from band each day? Are you counting the minutes you walk to and from school or the library? Do you run up and down the stairs at school? It might not be formal exercise, hon, but you are definitely getting in the physical activity. Has :cheer2: practice started yet? Those surely are hard physical activity minutes! You have done great all summer and the first 6 weeks or so of school. Keep up the awesome effort, kiddo! I am so proud of you. Remember, you inspired me to start the 100 day challenge -- you can do this!
Andrea -- Welcome! You are going to love it here! It is exciting to see us all motivating each other to move more! :cool1:

Can I play too? I love the idea of a little extra motivation and really appreciate the work this must be to keep it all updated! Y'all are going to think I am totally crazy but I have A LOT of weight to lose and I've been trying to do 4 hours of exercise each day. I'm actually averaging only about 3 hours I think, so my goal for the rest of the month is 4000 minutes. I'll start keeping track tomorrow.

Okay, I think I straightened out the AlreadyExcitedGrammy and OhMom confusion and have your numbers right in the list! :teeth: If anyone's numbers aren't up to date, just let me know!
I am feeling a bit frustrated because my Walk the Half Marathon training plan is so limited in time and requires 2 rest days a week. I think, if I did the math right, that it doesn't even provide for 900 minutes this first month, so I am going to change my goal number to 900. The numbers will go up considerably in November and December, so I guess I will make it up later.
Have a great day, everyone!

A couple questions... what is WATP? A video?
Has anyone done Yoga Booty Ballet? I have the video and have tried it but I can't get into it!
Anyone got any inspiring weight loss stories to share? I have lost 22.5 lbs and I am really proud of that, but I have LONG way to go to my goal weight. It's a teeny bit depressing because I will be going on my cruise in a little over a month and it's unlikely that I can lose ALL the weight by then (over 100 lbs, LOL!)... so I will have to buy new clothes at my in between weight. It's better than buying them for my beginning weight, but still a little frustrating.

Tana, I think I can answer a couple of your questions.
A couple questions... what is WATP? A video?
It is a series of videos called "Walk Away the Pounds". It is an exercise program that can replace walking outdoors, and has been expanded to include toning, etc., too. The instructor is Leslie Sansone, who I like a lot. She looks normal as do the people who exercise with her and none of them are dressed in skimpy little exercise gear.
Has anyone done Yoga Booty Ballet? I have the video and have tried it but I can't get into it! Haven't heard of this one, but I have never tried yoga.
Tana -- You have already come a long way and you should be proud of yourself. Just keep going and think of it in smaller increments. You could definitely lose another 10 pounds in a month if you are working at it. Alternatively, you could be working your butt off and you won't see movement on the scale. But you will definitely feel better and, hopefully, you will see a change in how your clothes fit. Good luck! :wizard: :goodvibes
If you need inspiration, you may want to read some of the WISH journals. There are some amazing people who post journals and I always go there to find inspiration.

Lots of inspiring stories here! I'm at a stalled out point - did too much on Tues and spent the next 2 days resting! That was not part of my plan! Finally got moving again yesterday to get over the halfway mark. Now I have to keep it going around a lot of social activities today and tomorrow that are trying to cut into my exercise time. Can't let that happen. Too easy to get into the habit of not getting out there.
The weather has finally started to cool off here. That will go a long way in motivating me to get moving, and also to pick up the pace a little. Best part is the lower humidity - finally!
