Thought I read an earlier post that said this was not supposed to air.
Visit "WaltDisney.com" and there is a "News Flash" press release about the 2 hour show scheduled to air 9-16 on ABC
here is a link News flash "The Man Behind the Myth" (http://disney.go.com/disneyatoz/waltdisney/educationdept/pressrelease.html)
Is this old news?

We've discussed it before, but I wasn't aware it was airing next Sunday. Thanks so much for sharing this information.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a great show. The following quote from the article was a little disturbing: "Walt skimped and saved, and even cashed in his family's life insurance, in order to finance the early development of Disneyland;" Now we have Mikey pulling in MILLION$ in salaray and bonus money and at the same time cutting corners, laying off employees and doing his best to destroy the parks.
or this one...
"how the Disney Studio broke the Hollywood taboo of early television, and how, in his final days, Walt was fully devoted to building a city of the future near what is today Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida."
Yep, the company really has done justice to Walt's dreams. At least they built a nice zoo and some cool spinner rides. :(

That is funny. I watched the show called "Walt Disney: THe Man Behind the Myth" about 2 weeks ago. I don't remember if it was HBO or Cinemax. I taped it and it is a very interesting documentary. Highly reccomend it. You'll get to see lots of films from the Disney family archives as well as interviews with many surviving relatives. Also, never before seen original short animation films drawn exlusively by Walt. It will certainly humanize the myth.

It should not have much competition since the Emmy Awards have been postponed until further notice and FOX may not show INDEPENDENCE DAY on Sunday night because of the terrorists attacks.

CAn anyone tell me if it is going to be replayed? I missed it an really wanted to see it. I didn't even know it was going to be shown. I wish it had more publicity. But with all that has happened things like this get put aside and with good reason. Hopefully they will replay. Let me know.

They may put it on VHS and DVD soon like they did with Annie and The Miracle Worker. Check out Walt: The Man Behind the Myth on ABC thread in the Teen Disney section for continual updates.

The Disney Family Trust will almost certainly put out a VHS/DVD version in the months to come. I'll post an announcement when I get word from Pantheon Productions.

I really liked those brief computer-generated images of Walt's EPCOT. If an upcoming DVD release of that show features more of those graphics, I could be persuaded to buy it. I was really amazed by that footage.
It was a good show, but I really wished it was longer. So much ws glossed over.

Maybe we'll get lucky when they put together the DVD version?
With all that space just laying around on the disk, they might just add alot of EXTRA stuff:D
Here's me wishing on on star for that to happen:p
