How late into the fall can you plant grass? (Maryland)

What is the absolute latest date you can plant grass in the mid-atlantic states...I know that fall is a good time to plant a new lawn, but i'm not sure how far into the season I can go........

I would say until the ground freezes. I've even heard of people sowing seed on top of snow in late winter.

Now would be a good time to thatch and get it ready for re-seeding since the ground is still soft. Once you put the seed down you have to keep it wet to get it to germinate. Rain or sprinklers. Frost is around Oct. 15th. If you're still not ready then prepare the soil & wait till the last snow before putting seed down. It would lie dormant until the snow melts.
