Trip Report Day 2

Friday 26th August 2005

The day dawned bright and sunny but despite all our good intentions we slept in!!! The alarm did go off but I vaguely remember turning it off, then I must have nodded off again! We eventually surfaced and, because we had missed our breakfast slot of 7.30am, decided we would go without and head straight for the parks. We had a lunch booked at 1pm, so we knew we wouldn’t starve!

We got to Disneyland at about 10am and rode the railroad twice!!! We alighted at Main Street Station and bought autograph books. Just as well, we had just finished paying and there was Goofy! The girls got his autograph and had their photo taken. Wow, an orderly queue, I am impressed!!! :teeth:

We wandered up Main Street just soaking in the atmosphere and going in and out of the shops. Samantha and Danielle bought a tiara each and Francesca bought a Pluto hat. It was then time for lunch. We made our way through Fantasyland to Auberge de Cendrillon where we had booked the buffet lunch. It wasn’t very busy in there, it felt such a calm oasis in busy Fantasyland! The buffet was delicious and the restaurant is very very beautiful. I especially loved the crockery, it had Suzy and Perla on it. Aaaahhhhhh! :cloud9:

After lunch we went outside and took photos in front of Cinderella’s coach.

Then we went to ride Peter Pan. The queue was horrendous so we used five of our fast passes that we had been given with our annual passes. We loved this ride, it is much better than the one in WDW.

Afterwards it was on Le Carrousel de Lancelot and then time to explore Sleeping Beauty Castle! We all agreed that the castle is soooo beautiful, we all loved the one at WDW but this is much prettier. The stained glass windows are lovely and we found the one where the doves change to a rose. Can’t quite believe this, but I forgot to take a photo of it! There was someone stood in front so I thought I’d go back and do it later, then forgot all about it! So that is a must do for next time! I thought it was fantastic the way pixie dust sprinkles across the tapestries of Sleeping Beauty and the three good fairies, it really looks magical.

Then it was time to wander down to the depths to meet the dragon. He was great, what a brilliant idea to put a dragon under the castle.

Then we went over to Phantom Manor. We had just started when the ride broked down for about twenty minutes. We were right by the door where the knocker keeps rapping. Bryan called out why doesn’t someone answer the door, it would have been funny if someone had! :rotfl: By the time the ride restarted we were all a bit fed up of waiting and I think this diminished some of the fun of the ride. We agreed to ride it again when the queues weren’t so bad.

As it was a lovely evening we decided to watch the Wonderful World of Disney parade again. We went and sat on the kerb near the castle hub this time. We do love watching our parades and they’re always so much better when you’re at the very front and not stood behind someone!

After the parade we browsed through the shops in Main Street on our way out of the park and decided to walk home. We stopped off at the garage outside the Santa Fe to buy milk and got back to our hotel about 8.30pm. The walk took about half an hour, including the visit to the garage and was very enjoyable. There are pavements all the way and the roads are easy to cross. We were all tired from being so late the previous night so it was early to bed for all of us!

Thanks Elaine, That was really lovely! :goodvibes
Isn't it funny how you miss things - I've been in the castle numerous times and can't remember ever noticing those tapestries and I will definately make sure we go to Auberge de Cendrillon this time!!!

Really nice photos, great report

Well worth waiting for your second report Elaine!! I really enjoyed reading it and your photos are really great. I loved the ones with your 3 princesses on! (Does Danielle get fed up that Francesca is about the same height?) I loved the Cinderella crockery too - we must have a meal there when we go in November. Looking forward to part three!!

If I remember correctly there's an outdoor seating area at the Auberge de Cendrillon and it's in there. It's not at all obvious - especially when the restaurant itself is shut.

Yes, I agree it would be very easy to miss the pumpkin, especially when the outdoor area is busy. We remembered to look for it only because I had written down that Francesca wanted a photo taken there. As it was, we had to go back again to take another one in her Cinderella dress! :rotfl:

Sometimes.;) When they were younger, they used to love pretending they were twins but now they are older, it frustrates Danielle that Francesca wears bigger size clothes/shoes than her. We have always put this down to the fact that Danielle doesn't like milk (apart from the barest minimum with cereal) or yogurts, whereas Francesca will drink it until the cows come home! :rotfl:
