View Full Version : No Fireworks next summer?
Martin

According to posts on the DLP.info (http://www.dlp.info/) forums by current castmembers, it seems that there are going to be NO FIREWORKS next summer season at DLRP!
If true, this joins a long list of cost-cutting over coming months at the resort.
Due to the bad reception of Wishes in Disneyland Park and Euro Disney's financial situation do you think that they can justify cancelling a firework show which is a feature of every Disney theme park around the globe?
The original thread is here. (http://forum.mousekingdom.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=3&topic_id=68705&mode=full&page=)

As much as I do enjoy the fireworks I'm not that bothered - that period in between the parade end and the fireworks where people are either leaving or getting into position for the fireworks can be quite a hassle at times and I like the idea of leaving the park a little earlier - we're both always shattered at that point. I'd be quite happy with Fantillusion being the last event of the day.

Steve,
On the same forum someone (Mr. Entertainment) has posted that the Christmas Market in DV will not be there this year.

I am with you steve. The fireworks i can miss but the stalls in DV is really sad. There was a place with pretty reasonably priced goods.
And the chocolate coated strawberries were to die for

In that same thread I thanked Mr Entertainment for the update and mentioned that's a shame that they still advetise the Disney Village Market in the new brochures - part of the reply I got was this:
As for the advertising, if you believe what we advertise after 13 years of false advertising, who is the a**hole? You, or Me?
Nice

I saw that and thought it came across as being really rude.
I think there a few CM's there all vieing to be top dog and have the most inside information. Saying that though alot of what he says is interesting and informative but he should be more courteous.

Really a certain forum dlp.info has the most rubbish on it if experience has served me well lol. This Mr Entertainment to me is an idiot, really some real cast members on that forum do post truth, but get called useless and fake cast members, as for Mr Entertainment he should not post stuff like that, also what amazes me is I believe advertising since Wishes is mentioned as coming back next summer in the Leger brochure for next year so lets hope it does although can bet to some it does not matter to me it is like the most magical way I could ever end a summer evening in DLRP, also it has to be said really Disney is a park for magic and that was truly magic even if some people do not agree.

And that's why I don't visit that forum any longer. The few good guys are not overwhelmed by people you diliberate provoke personal attacks. Shame for the guys who set up the website and forum, but I'm afraid it is not Disney :confused3

That's why this board is the best - nobody here would ever make a rude comment like that. Not because anyone here bites their lip so to speak, but because I don't think anyone here is that nasty.

Well said, Reid - you've hit the nail on the head - it is not Disney!!! I never look at that forum any more either - the people who set it up ought to regulate it better. It's so much nicer when people are pleasant to each other and it's not that difficult!!

My first thought after reading it was to leave that place and get back to the nice people of DIS - back to my nice Disney family :disrocks:

He is a rude horrible miserable man. Anyone with his temperament shouldn't be working at disney something I have told him in the past. It is a shame as the website is great but no one seems to control the forums.
Like others have said I really like it here as everyone is really friendly. :grouphug:

:
I have too told him something similiar. After reading a post where he was being extremely vulgar and saying things about SNow WHite being involved in orgies and all of the details etc..SOmeone complained saying that their children had read the post and he retaliated by calling the individual all sorts of nasty unmentionable names. He is one of the most horrible individuals I have ever encountered and I will never go on that board again. How can he get away with that? In another few years my DS will be able to go on so called family forums such as that one and encounter the likes of him. SOmeone should put a complaint in about him. I felt really depressed after reading all his ranting and raving.

Although I'm very sorry he spoke to you like that Steve, I can't say I'm surprised. I don't have any experience of him in particular but that board in general seems to be full of nasty comments, which always amazes me since it's all about something so magical that we all love - hard to believe Disney can provoke such nastiness in people. This is the only board I've visited in a long long time becuase nowhere else has such friendly helpful people. :goodvibes

But does he really work there? Or just pretend he does?
I also don't like the forums there. It is a shame because it is a good site which is very informative but even the most innocent remark put up on those forums can be subjected to ridicule and abuse. I always think some of the posters spend so much time complaining about Disney, why do they bother to go there. I found that forums to do with dogs are also very aggressive like this, that's why I now just stick with the Dis, we are all so nice here, we are obviously a different class of people, Disney people! ;) :disrocks:

I think he does really work there - he certainly knows a lot about what's going to happen etc. I think in one post I read him talking about being a character - Pluto I think. But I think he does various things, sounds like alot of CMs multi task.
Just read this post back - I certainly think alot!

With regard to the fireworks I agree with other posters that it is not necessary for our stay. In the summer we deliberately went before wishes as the part opening later and show times does not suit the kids

I agree about the dog forums. I recently joined a Old English Sheepdog forum. One of my first post included a comment that our dog when he is older may sleep in our barn in our new property. The barn is huge and insulated and spotlessly clean. I got slammed by responses. One lady told me to give my puppy away to a family that really want a family pet and that I don't deserve one and how could I treat a sheepie this way. They call themselves 'stay at home moms 'for their various sheepies. They are really radical and some can be very nasty and pounce on people if they get the opportunity. They all have at least two some have up to 7 of these huge dogs and most of them sleep in their beds with them. One lady has three 100 pounders sleeping IN her bed with her. Wonder where her husband sleeps??? Anyways think I'll be staying away from that one. Sorry to say but for the most part they are all a bunch of nutters.

I visit quite a few forums for different interests and find there are always one or two people with very strong opinions which they're quite happy to voice and some people are just plain rude, I think forums can attract that sort of person especially if they're unmoderated - you find out quite quickly which forums to avoid - but to re-echo everyone else's comments this forum is quite unique and a joy to visit. :earsgirl:

As part of my job I have to visit a lot of pro wrestling forums and those places are the absolute pits - full of virtual ASBO candidates I'm sure! I just didn't expect to be insulted on a Disney forum by someone 'connected' with DLRP - oh well, you live and learn!

I haven't been on that site myself but it sounds horrendous. I like our boards - you don't feel silly asking what may be a daft question. Thing is, if you knew the answer you wouldn't be asking would you? And sometimes a 2nd opinion is worth it's weight. You certainly wouldn't expect that on a site associated with Disney would you?

Well folks, I'm back ! Having read this thread I now know why I missed you all so much !
The fireworks, shame - but from our experience it might be safer until DLP are better at crowd controle.
As for the sheep dogs - I don't think I want to even go there ! "Stay at home mums" for sheep dogs ??????? I ask you.
I've never visited the "undisney" board and so never come across "Mr Entertainment". Thank goodness.

Ok, the "official" word is that the Fantillusion Parade and Wishes will take it in turns during the week, then both at the weekends.
Basically, Disneyland Park itself was getting around 45,000 "first-clicks" a day in August, but only 8000 people were in the park for the nights entertainment. And a large percentage were annual passport holders, who according to surverys would have visited the park anyway and stay off-site. 97% of Disney's attendance comes from NON-annual passport holders!
Basically, the longer and more reasons people have to stay in the parks, the more they spend at Disney and not elsewhere. It's not a case of getting people to spend more, it's where they spend it.
Plus, it encourages day trippers to buy a 2 day pass instead.
You can say what you like about bad press, but everything I have seen in the mainstream press has been good. And it's that what encourages the majority of people to come.
No Christmas Village in the Disney Village????
Think again, 9th Dec till 8th Jan.
It's got a sponsor (air france) plus the stalls all pay rent.
Silly not to have it.

I so hope this true - seems I get told a different story every week!
We will be moving next year so I need to buy lots of nik bkas for the new place and the Christmas Market is perfect for that, and keeping warm thanks to all the food being sold and the lights from the stalls and the people!
My plan is to go November 06 - having saved for my new PC :badpc: I've now got to save the cost of going to DLP. :rolleyes1 So I am really hoping that the christmas festivities - particularly Fantillusion - will be on then. :bounce:
