Clearly, with so much money soon to be funneled into the Gulf States and ultimately Texas, who should have financial oversight of the recovery?
I am no fan of Donald Trump but I recall when New York State was going to rebuild a skating rink, Trump was appalled at the price and the time line. He said, he would do it for half of the price in half of the time. He did it for less than half of the price. I don't remember the details. Then there is Jack Welch, former CEO of GE who was certainly instrumental in making GE the dynamic company it is. Many think he would be a good candidate. Guliani's name has come up several times, but his experience is in law enforcement and government. Perhaps someone with a strong business sense is what is required.
Then of course, the mayor feels that he knows best what is needed for New Orleans, although too often past performance is a good predictor of future behavior. Another option is the Governor and the State Legislature. Any thoughts?
