Good morning everyone! :sunny: Here's our new thread for week 2 of the challenge. Our "Just Say No" challenge seemed to motivate a lot of people so let's continue that this week and I'll post totals. Let's also continue our "Just Say Yes" to moving choices and exercise...I'll post totals for exercise as well. Here's the link to our Week 1 thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=911173&page=1&pp=15)
Last week's summary...a total of 35.5 pounds gone, 53 "no's" and 8 hours and 5 minutes of exercise! :thewave:
We kind of talked about challenging the Red Team, shall we make it official for this week? Any ideas?
What are your personal goals for this coming week? Mine is to increase my exercise. I've been doing good on our Bowflex but I want to add walking in, so my goal is to walk 4 times this week.
Already today I haev 2 "no's" - to grabbing a cookie from DD's lunch box and grabbing some Pringle's while I was in the pantry getting her lunch snack out. :rolleyes1

Jennifer ~ I posted this on last week's thread and the weigh-in thread, but wanted to make sure you get me added to the totals. I lost one pound this week.
I've been saying NO a lot lately! LOL I've also been helping my parents move this week so I've gotten a lot of unconventional exercise (stength training and aerobic). :cool1:

I got you in the other thread but I'll update this one! Congrats on your loss! Moving wears me out - and I "discover" long forgotten muscles. :teeth:

Hi guys, I posted on the other thread, but I would too, my loss so far is 1#. This morning I exercised 35 minutes and feel fantastic! I haven't exercised in awhile and it feels great.
My goals for this week are to journal everything I eat and exercise 4x. I've got one day of exercise in!
Today I said no to snacking after I dropped the kids off at school. We didn't have too good of snacks, and I started looking at those hot dogs. It would have been so easy to just pop one in the microwave, but I said NO!!!
3 Yes's.... woke up early, exercised, drank a bottle of water instead of soda!

My goals this week are to exercise at least 4 days a week, drink all of my water every day and continue to say no.
I have 30 minutes of exercise so far this week.
I said no to the cherry turnovers at the Wal-Mart Supercenter this morning and yes to fresh pineapple.
I have already had one 20 oz. bottle of water, one 32 oz. mug of water and just refilled my second 32 oz. mug of water.
I would love to challenge the red team. I will try to think of something too.
Have a great day!! Let's get moving!!

What a great first week, everyone!!! That's an awesome team number! Woo hoo!! My goal for this week is to count those No's and to add exercise to my routine. I just focused on food and drinking lots of water last week.

I have a lot to update already - you guys are keeping me busy! :) I went to lunch with a friend at Panera today and fortunately looked up the menu items before I went. I was planning on getting the Fandango salad, my favorite and I thought totally healthy - 29 grams of fat! Ouch! My whole day in a SALAD! Instead I got 1/2 an Asian Chicken Salad for 200 calories and 10 grams of fat and of course I ate a piece of bread and a Chai iced latte with skim milk. :) I made better choices than if I hadn't checked, that's for sure! So I said yes to trying something new and yes to ordering a 1/2 salad and NO :earseek: to worrying about what the people would think if I asked for a 1/2 salad and skim milk in my tea! Those are big steps for me.
Princess Vija - Good job on turning down the hot dogs :cheer2: ...sometimes it's just so easy to snack I'm doing it before I realize it! I feel energized after I exercise too.
Christie - but the cherry turnovers would count as fruit wouldn't they? Oh wait wrong kind of support! :rotfl: I'll bet your pineapple will be much tastier and leave you feeling more satisfied and healthier - excellent choice!
Blueeyes - we'll be there 2 weeks from today! Did you plan an intinerary? Maybe we could challenge ourselves to "walk the parks" with you...
Geetey - great way to start off! I can't focus on too many things because then nothing seems to get my attention. Two huge positive changes...food and water - excellent! :wave2:
So far we have: 3 "no's", 4 "yes's" and 1 hour and 40 minutes of exercise!
Go Blue! :jumping1:
BTW, did anyone see Biggest Loser last night? I made sure I watched it!

Hi Blue Team!!
Congrats on your great losses!! I should have known better than to try and tempt you all with cheesecake! I would love to be your work out guru too!!! I can be very "Jillian" if need be! (You'll have to have watched the show to know what that one means! She rocks!)
To make up for it, I have booked you all a weeks vacation at WDW with rooms in the Contemporary tower. I of course have added the meal plan and made you some wonderful ADRs at Chef Mickey's, Ohana's, Crystal Palace, etc. Enjoy the chocolate covered strawberries and welcome cakes I am having delivered to your rooms! ;)
hehe!
Mike :goodvibes
Should we take him up on his offer to be our fitness guru? We've had "Jillian" requests! lol Mike - are families included in this and are the ressies in individual names or under your name? Thanks so much!

What timing! I'm searching and searching on-line right now for a child's Padme Amidala costume for DD to wear to MNSSHP (yes I'm a little slow since I need it in 2 weeks!). So if you're my father and DD is Padme, Annikan's true love, does that mean she's my mother? I'm so confused!

we dont quite have an itinery set up--its just me and a girl from college---were going for our birthdays so its kinda whatever we want, were going to do...we do have meals planned at Grand Floridian 1900 park fare (ive always wanted to get a picture with prince charming)...Le Cellier...Garden Grill....Mama Melrose--plus we just decided today to do MNSSHP on Oct 2!
definite challenege to walk walk walk..i think i may wear my pedometer, at least one day, just to see how much i walk!

Wow! This thread has been busy today! Wednesdays and Thursdays are my busy days with kid activities. Wednesday is my planned day off for exercise, but I am going to try and fit it in tomorrow. Not sure when, but my goal is to try and exercise on Thursdays. My other goal this week is to drink more water. I am terrible about that.
Jennz - Great job at Panera! I love that place. We tend to go there every Sunday morning. I love their pumpkin muffins, but I must say NO! Also, we ordered Star Wars costumes from StarWars.com. They came today and very cute! My DD is Princess Leia, DS 6 is a jedi knight, and DS 10 mos is Yoda.

09-22-2005, 07:29 AM
Yesterday I walked at lunch time, it was really nice out, I walked for 20 minutes.
This week I would like to increase my exercise to at least a 1/2 each afternoon and then start doing 15 minutes to a 1/2 every other night.
dopey4disney
09-22-2005, 07:53 AM
jennz - Did you have any luck finding DD a costume?
Blueeyes - It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful time at the parks. I would love to know what the pedometer says after a day in the parks.
K and K - Your kids are going to be adorable in their costumes.
helenk - Fantastic job on walking at lunch!! :cool1: Keep up the great work!!
I was up at 4:30 to exercise again this morning. I have to say I have got to be one of the most uncoordinated people there is. I used a video that I am not real familiar with and between the early hour and only being able to see blurry blobs moving around on the TV (too early for contacts and I cannot stand wearing my glasses while exercising) it was an uncoordinated disaster. :rotfl2: But I stuck with it! It may not have been the prettiest site but at least I was moving. Do I get extra activity points for all the laughing??
So far today I have 35 minutes of exercise and one 20 oz. bottle of water.
Have a great day!!
GO BLUE!!! :cheer2:

Anyone know how to hook a laptop up to a treadmill? This could get tricky.... http://bestsmileys.com/exercising/7.gif
Well Geety, there are always a few ways to skin a cat ya know!
First, you need a very sticky substance to make your laptop stick to the treadmill.....I hear that royal icing makes for a VERY sturdy and tasty glue. Be sure to lick your fingers often however when applying it to both the treadmill and the laptop. Neatness counts! And for good measure, be sure to add a little caramel for that added stick, color and flavor! DO NOT use this stuff sparingly either......LOTS and LOTS of it! And again, be sure to lick those fingers often!
Should the royal icing not work to your liking, peanut butter may work quite well. As we ALL know though...you really can't have peanut butter without chocolate. Get yourself and industrial size container of peanut butter....and well you are going to need a couple of king sized bars of chocolate to use for your trowel! Spread the peanut butter, need I remind you again that neatness counts and to lick your fingers often?
So with your handy, dandy chocolate trowel, which you really can't resist or waste...you know there are people starving ALL over the world, eat delightfully, while looking from afar at your loverly masterpiece thinking all the while how much you  me for this fabulous idea!
After you gain a few punds, be sure to let me know... I will come over and help you position your treadmill ever so carefully in front of the TV.....I of course will have had the cable guy come out and reprogram all of your channels to the food channel! They have some really great programs on there! And I hear that Emeril is working on Smellavision! I might just have to help him with that!
Now you have a great day m'dear!
And don't forget to lick those fingers! ;)

Great job Blue Team - we're up to 2 hours and 35 minutes of exercise already!!
Helenk - those are good exercise goals you've set for yourself, very attainable! Great job! :Pinkbounc
K&K's Mommy - I ended up getting a Padme costume off eBay. I actually posted on the Community Board for help and someone suggested Starwars.com, I didn't even know that existed! They have one but it's pre-order and won't ship until the 30th, and we leave 10/5 which with my luck is probably the day it would arrive! I found another site (also on a recommendation from the community board) to get my and DH's costumes. I was going to be Leia but the one-size-fits-all costume is comparable to an 8/10 dress size - puh-lease! :maleficen DH is going to be a jedi.
Christie - I have quite an image of you in my mind now!! :earboy2: I'm soooooo impressed that you've been up that early to exercise - great job! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Great job last week, everyone!
We had a great time on the Wonder (except the night that the seas were so rough that the waves were hitting our stateroom window). After the first day my legs were actually hurting from going up and down the stairs (with luggage and children!). I ate a lot but only gained 1.5, not too bad.
You guys are cracking me up on this thread! I will be doing a light run on the treadmill this afternoon and then a 5K tomorrow. I am tracking what I eat in Fitday and hoping to add more water to my day.
I will check back later once I have exercised, I have about 500 pictures I want to get uploaded today.

Good Saturday morning everyone!!
I just got back from my 5K, it ireally is a nice way to start a morning. My time was not so good (45 and a couple of seconds), and I had a rough first mile. The parking was at Target and the whole parking lot was full--it took me 15 mins to find a spot. I was picking up my packet when they were saying 2 mins to race start. I did not get to stretch and my legs were not happy about it!!
I have had 2 bottles of water so far today (not bad for 9:30am).
Alright--who is next on the exercise today?????

Plus, being on the computer and "virtually eating" keeps me away from the real stuff. You are all very thoughtful! :grouphug: Also, Mike and Liz - keep on posting about what's on Oprah! We're usually exercising while she's on and I love her opinions on things! You should probably grab a snack to much on while you're on the couch watching her - I've heard that can help your memory.
I'm off soon to Louisville for dd's cheerleading competition, the first one of the season. Go Eagles! :cheer2: :cheer2: We'll be back tomorrow and I'll check in then.

I had a pretty good day today, I went with my mom and sisters to see the Lippizzaner Stallions. I was able to say no to pretzels at the stadium and then we went for dinner and I said no to the rolls. I did not exercise though since I needed to get my housework and laundry done before going.
But I was good a dinner, I had a nice greek salad with a vinegrette dressing so I am hanging in there.

helenk - You did exercise! Housework and laundry definitely count!
Well, I didn't get in any exercise yesterday and had a bit of my DD spaghetti and meatballs when we went out to dinner. Other than that, my food choices were good.
Today I did my 30 minute exercise tape! Now I need to go cheer on the Colts, and no, Mike, I will not need any nachos, pretzels, hot dogs, beer, etc, to help me watch football!!

Great job team! We're up to 7 hours of exercise! :cheer2: I'll be working out tomorrow, sooooooooo tired right now, there is no place quiet enough with over 150 cheerleaders staying there! :rotfl2: I think I'm slap happy - did I just use "quiet" and "cheerleaders" in the same sentence? :rotfl2: Fortunately there were so many cheerleaders I did not make it to the breakfast buffet - great news there! and chose the cold breakfast yogurt and fruit.
Mike, thanks sooooooo much for your concern about me during the car trip  I didn't need the snacks though, I ate before we left. I think you must know and have called our carpoolers though because she opened a bag of Munchos and brough coffee flavored Kit Kats :earseek: But I was too full to eat. I did send you one of those yummy smelling brats they were cooking at Jamfest though, they smelled too good to not get one and I thought you might enjoy it. Let me know!
I'm off to do totally nothing and enjoy the rain, lay on the couch, and watch Desperate Housewives (after we watch Star Wars :p )...have a great evening everyone! :grouphug:

Hey Blue-sers! :jumping3:
Just wanted to add something to the exercise amount since I couldn't help out any last week. Add 2 miles and 30 minutes to the total please. You can add quite a few NOs for me as well! Friday night we had a spaghetti dinner benefiting hurricane relief as school and I passed on every single dessert and let me tell you, there were a LOT! Last night I said NO to frozen custard. Today I said NO to the chip/cheesy dip. It felt good to say NO and follow through. ::yes::
I am glad we are weighing on Tuesday because Tuesday night is our last Cardinals game and I have been saving up lots of points for my nachos! Yum!
Enjoy the rain, everyone!

Woo hoo! 7 hours and 30 minutes of exercise for the week, great job! BTW, where is everyone? Out exercising?
I'm having a heck of a day. DD got extremely ill last night, I was ready to call 911 but DH talked me down. She was vomitting w/blood in it and couldn't catch her breath. The doctor told us today it's a virus (after she ran several tests). Of course it started at 11:30 last night, so I did get an hour of sleep and snuck in another 2 or so around 4 this morning so I'm really really working on avoiding temptation today! I have been drinking water instead of caffeine (although I'm having a dc right now!) and somehow have not had any snacks or meals today that will stick to my hips...I'm actually quite proud of that! Being so tired and stressed about DD are two HUGE triggers for me! HOWEVER - I'm actually being motivated by that weigh-in tomorrow :earseek: , that has surprised me. Does anyone have any encouraging words they'd like to pass on? Or tips on how they handle stressful days? I did watch Desperate Housewives last night...anyone else?
Terry - go Cardinals! We made a trip back to St. L this summer to see the Cards/Braves series. Lots of fun!
BlueEyes - which day do you leave?
Mike - I would gladly watch you eat that brat just because it smelled so delicious I would love to see someone enjoy it with no guilt! And of course it's just our famous Midwest hospitality that made me think of you ;) Pull up a seat and watch Desperate Housewives, it was good one! You should probably just make a night out of it, have a few snacks, plop on the couch when you get home and play it. You'll have to watch a few times though - lots of details you'll miss the first 4 or 5 times through. :teeth: I've heard it's better will maragaritas and delicious cool ranch doritos dipped in queso - let me know about that would ya?

I took your advice Jenn! Desparate Housewives was much better with the doritos, queso and margaritas. And since I was having Mexican already I figured how could a few chicken tacos hurt, just a little sour cream on them, and then I needed to have something sweet to just balance the spice so I made up a batch of frozen Mudslides and baked up a pan of peanut butter brownies. Are you sure this was a good idea?? I was up a few pounds this morning and my pants are tighter. I will trust you though. I did good this morning because I had some of the donuts geetey dropped off, I figure they must be low carb and low fat, right? I gotta go, I have to get cooking for dinner, the chicken isn't going to fry itself! Any good gravy recipes? I need something to go with my mashed potatoes and pan fried corn?? Oops, just spilled my chocolate milkshake, from McDs, it's a diet shake right?, all over my keyboard!!! Bye!!

Jennz - So sorry about you DD. I hope she is feeling better. I always feel so helpless when the kids are sick. Being tired is a huge trigger for me to eat. I was having at least one Starbucks frappucino (not sure how to spell that) before I started this. Today when we were running errands I got a sugar free vanilla latte, and it wasn't bad. Anyway, I don't really have any tips to help you. Perhaps you and DD could watch a movie. I usually find if I don't get snacks before the movie starts, then I am not inclined to get up and get them. Just keep reminding yourself that the weigh-in is tomorrow! Good luck!
I watched Desperate Housewives. The scene about the tie at Rex's funeral was too funny!

WAY TO GO, Jenn!! That's some serious temptation you just made it through! I have found that brushing my teeth (alot) and chewing mint gum helps. Anything will taste nasty after that, so if I feel tempted, I start brushing! I hope your DD feels better soon.
K and K's Mom - good choice on that sugar free latte. My sister loves those frappacionosenlaisdlkjapoiuwersn (see - I don't know how to spell it either). I am a diet coke person myself.
Sap1227 - welcome back from the cruise! We have cruised the Magic once. Are we ruined for the Wonder forever? I can't imagine cruising for less than 7 days (which is why I guess we haven't cruised again - $$!)

Thanks you guys! :grouphug: After I posted I was feeling motivated and went and worked out while DD napped - yeah! I felt better after too. Didn't walk though. We're up to 8 hours of exercise as a team! Just heard this virus was passed around another cheer squad at her gym a few weeks ago. The good news - we leave for WDW next Wednesday so this will be over by then!
I think I might have made it through the day, just got back from the grocery again, getting her Push Ups and DD a frozen pizza and got myself a Lean Cuisine. :cheer2: A movie sounds good, and I think I'll brush my teeth before it starts! :teeth: Thanks for the tips and the support. Oh - I also parked in a far spot at the grocery store for both trips today. ;)
Mike - you're just a dog :dog: . I felt sooooooooo guilty when I was reading your post because you kept going on and on and I thought I contributed to you falling off the wagon. Wow. Okay, call me gullible. Thanks for the laugh I needed it! Plus I love the few extra calories I burned. ::yes:: I read another of your threads and that's what gave me the extra motivation to work out today, which helped with the stress and kept snacking out of my mind. I've tried journaling once or twice but I don't seem to stick with it... :confused3
K&K's Mommy - OMG wasn't that great about the tie?! I was thinking, "Bree, you've got to do it - you'll regret it the rest of your life if you don't!" But I was just expecting her to take it off, not the rest! That was hysterical! :rotfl2:
BTW everyone NOTE: this is for Blue Team members only - if you are on the red team do not read this!! - when you drink a quart of water make sure you add ice - there's a thermogenic effect that burns 30 calories to bring a quart of ice water to body temp, so drink up and remember the ice!

Goodmorning everyone,
I'm actually looking forward to weigh in tonight, my clothes are no longer tight so that is a good sign.

Samantha - great job with the no's! :cheer2: The yes's will come, don't feel bad about it. The small things add up, park farther away and take the stairs, everything counts and adds up to a lifestyle change, which means the pounds will stay off! :teacher:
Blue Team - 9 hours and 30 minutes! Awesome!! :cheer2: How about a total minute exercise challenge to the Red Team this week? Exercise, for the challenge, means minutes of things you are doing specifically for exercise, we won't count walking while shopping etc, even though you get a positive benefit from that.
WDWfan9 - great job on your pound! :cheer2: I'm down 1.4 this week so we have 2.4 gone. Last week the Red Team squeaked past us - let's see how this turns out. Hi y'all!
We are home from the Cardinal game. We lost. Boo hoo... :sad1:  Not the way I wanted my last game at Busch Stadium to go, but it was a beautiful night and ds did manage to snag an autograph, so all was not lost!
Right before changing for the game, I weighed myself again and I weighed 2 pounds down (instead of 1.5). I decided to weigh myself AGAIN when we got home and I changed for bed, and I am still 2.0 pounds down so.... Jenn, you can change my loss to 2 pounds for this week, if you like. Otherwise, I will save it for next week. ;) I figured I should report it since it is Tuesday and it will probably keep me more honest this coming week!

Hi,
Sorry I'm so late posting my weight loss I've been in meetings all morning.
Anyway I am so happy to report a loss of 3 pounds, I was quite surprised last night when I weighed myself. I was hoping for 2 pounds so the 3 was a bonus.
