Did anyone watch Oprah yesterday? I was quite happy and touched to see that she is donating that much money to help the people of Katrina. What does everyone else think?

I am not sure I follow you on the redeem part? Did Oprah do something nasty to the victims of the hurricane?
Either way it is really great that she is donating 10 million dollars. That is about 4% of her income last year!

That is insane.....both her making 250 million a year...and that she is donating that much :scared1:

At least she wasn't telling people to give until it hurts like some of the celebs have a tendency to do. ;)

My fondness for Oprah has waned over the last two years (she's gotten a bit preachy & star struck), but the woman DOES have a rep for putting her money where her mouth is. I really like her idea to have a "registry" where folks can "buy" linens, furnishings etc. to make "homes" of the houses she plans to build.
I'm also unaware of what she needs to redeem herself for.

Oprah is a smart lady and will probably come up with a good relief plan. I'm also wondering what she did to annoy anyone though?

Her whining about not being let into a Hermes store when it was CLOSING....well, that was annoying. :)

Yea..and then having the guy there to appoligize. It seemed to me like he didn't want to be put on some kind of ban list. And then the "babies"...I quickly remembered why I stopped watching it...never again. :sad2:

I'm am also stumped about why she needs to redeem herself? I think she brought on the CEO of Hermes because she wanted to straighten out what happened and the rumors surrounding what happened.

I dont know of any 'redeeming' that needs done, but I was very happy to hear of her contribution. I love the idea of letting people 'shop' for items to help the victims. It is nice to know what your donation will be used for. Yeah, OPRAH!! :flower:

Oprah's heart is in the right place and she does more than her share for those in need both here in the United States and over seas. I fail to understand the need to verbally attack her or anyone who goes out of their way to help others.
