View Full Version : Grocery Options if using ME?
09-20-2005, 01:35 PM
Heading down in Jan and planning to use ME. Last year I rented a car for the week and found that I only used it to go grocery shopping the first day.
Not sure what my options will be for grocery shopping if I take ME.
Does anyone know how feasible it is to have a taxi take me to Publix and wait for me while I shop?
Has anyone done this before?
Any suggestions would be appreciated :teeth: :disrocks:

Taking a taxi would be unnecessarily expensive as well as time consuming. You can get a delivery from Gooding's (www.goodings.com), a local grocery store, or from wegoshop (www.wegoshop.com), a shopping service where you can choose which store they go to. The advantage to Gooding's is that you don't need to plan, schedule, or be at your room for your delivery, because they deliver to Bell Services and then Bell Services delivers to you when you're good and ready (Gooding's separately bags and labels your cold stuff, and Bell Services will keep it cold for you!). The disadvantage to Gooding's is that people say their prices are high (but their fees are slightly lower than wegoshop. I imagine the primary advantage to wegoshop is lower grocery prices. The disadvantage to wegoshop is having to schedule your delivery and thus having to wait in your room for it.
Lots of DIS posters have used wegoshop and swear by it. I used Gooding's and loved it. Just as my DME luggage "magically appeared" in my room, my groceries were just a phone call away. I didn't have to sit around and wait for anything, I was able to get right out and play, and get my grocery delivery whenever I wanted it at a moment's notice (because Bell Services had it and all I needed to do was call them).
