Hi, everyone.
I have been on this site quite a bit over the last year in anticipation of our trip in December, but this is the first time I saw this topic.
We serve from Virginia to the Philadelphia metro area.
If I can be of service to you in any way, please let me know.

Thank you Mark
I'm always complaining about the deer. Not much works if they decide to dine in your garden. Sprays, fences, soap, dog hair, urine ours & fox any other ideas?
Wish we could pass out birth control to the NJ deer like they did to the Fire Island deer :rotfl:

How about putting Salt Licks in your neighbors yard :rotfl: :rotfl:
I was so happy to see deer in our yard - I went and bought some for them -
I know I will regret it later - lol but the kids love seeing them every evening!

I would love to put salt licks in my neighbors yard but even the deer would run from them :rotfl: When we lived on LI the deer came into the yard and the kids would be just thrilled to see them. Here in NJ they are a huge nuisance. It's difficult to grow anything between the woodchucks and the deer.

Deb,
The methods you have tried are effective in certain instances. Typically, if there is an abundant amount of food around, they may avoid such unpleasantries.
A fence is the only guaranteed solution. If your plants are clustered, you may be able to get away with the loose netting directly on top of the plants.

Patty,
I agree- deer are beautiful animals and nice to see on occasion. The problem is, deer transport "deer ticks" and dispurse them to every location they visit. If the ticks have been infected, lyme disease can be transmitted. If your children play in areas deer frequent, I would advise tick inspections after play.
