Welcome to my first trip report! Please forgive me NOW for any mistakes - I've caught a terrible post-Disney cold. TIP! Take Vitamin C while you're there, wash your hands alot and take hand sanitizer.
Arrival Day
My friend and I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside from Fri. Sept. 9th to Thurs. Sept.15th. We flew in from Baltimore on AirTran, and arrived around 4pm.
While standing in the Magical Express line to board the buses, I noticed a couple with lime green strings tied to their backpacks. Did I say anything to them? NO, cuz I'm a chicken.
We got on the bus about 4:30p, the bus pulled off at 4:45, and we got to POR at 5:15p. The seats on the bus are red with gold stars. There are 3 mini screens on each side of the bus, that shows Disney info video. While on the bus, I noticed that the gas was 2.95.
Check in was easy. We were in Oak Manor room 9014. To me it was a bit far from the main bldg after walking all day.
After finding the room, and dropping off our carry-ons, we walked over to Boatwrights restaurant in the main bldg. The restaurant is really nice. We were on the Disney Dinning Plan (DDP) so we ordered: House salad, garlic cheese bites, pot roast, pork loin, 2 slices of pecan pie and 2 sprites. The total came to 60.31. But of course, we didnt have to pay. The entrees were just ok, but the pecan pie was TO DIE FOR! Our meals came with corn muffins. At the end of the meal, our waitress Patricia, boxed up the muffins and our pie, because we were really tired. This worked out great, because we at the muffins for the next few days as snacks in our room. THANKS PATRICIA!!!
Day 1
We got a 6am wake up call from Mickey and Stitch - cute. We got to the bus stop by 7:15am, and arrived at Animal Kingdom by 7:40. The rope drop at 8am was very cute. We headed straight for the safari - no wait. Rhinos blocked the road at one point - very cool.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Animal%20Kingdom/IMG017-2.jpg
Next we went to the Pangani Forest Trail and saw birds and fish - very relaxing. Then it was time to trek all the way over to Dino Land for our 9:10am reservation. The food was not as good as I remembered :( It costs 18.00 per person. Not worth it! Good thing we're on the plan.
The exit of the restaurant pointed us to DINOSAUR!!! YAY!!!!
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/IMG005.jpg
We walked on. It was much more intense than I remembered, but still fun! We rode it twice.
I can't remember the order of what we did afterwards, but I can tell you that it was no wait for anything. We did the following:
Tough Being a Bug - still fun, and yes some kids still cry in it
Kali River Rapids - I wore a rain poncho and hat. Only the front bottom of my shorts got wet. And NO, the drop isnt bad at all - it's like the hill in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Maharajah Jungle trek -glad we did it! The surroundings are awesome, along with the animals you'll see.
Lion King Show- really fun. Loved the gymnists. TIP! Sit on the very top row so you can rest your back. The rows in the show are bleachers. The view from the top row was just fine! And I loved that I could lean back! OH! And be careful walking to your "seat" a man tripped over a bleacher, because it's really dim in there.
We were supposed to go to MGM next, but I was too tired, and too hot, so we went back to the room for a nap at 1:30p.
At 3:45 we headed out for MGM. It's HOT but not crowded! We got on the Great Movie Ride. So sad to report that this ride now seems corny to me. I never have to get on it again. Next we went into a shop and bought a few things. I asked to have it sent to the hotel. TIP! I found out that it takes them 2 days to send it, and they DON'T send it to your room. So if you're not close to your main bldg, it may be more trouble than it's worth.
We headed to Hollywood and Vine for our 5:10 reservation. WE LOVED THE FOOD! It's buffet style, and it costs 22.50 per person. Our waiter was Chris! He was VERY nice. (I'm looking at the receipt and do NOT see the tip! OH NO!) While finishing up our meal, I saw Bill, the man who waited on my mother and I, two years ago. We did not purchase the Fantasmic Dinner Package. All we did was ask for the priority seating pass at the end of our meal, and we got it.
After dinner, we walked over to Tower of Terror. There was a 40min wait, no Fast passes. The wait wasnt bad though. TIP! If you are not riding something, you can still be in line and then exit before your friend gets on.
Fantasmic was nice - not great because the water projector on our side stopped working 5mins into the show. Good thing we were sitting in the middle, so we could look to the left to see the images. I regret getting to the show early, because like the Lion King, you are sitting on bleachers, so my back started to hurt :(
We got back to the hotel at 9:38pm, and went to sleep. My feet were killing me!
This is the end of part one. I'll gather my notes and receipts for the next parts. Meanwhile, please feel free to ask questions . . .
Part one final TIPS!
1. Take a hot pot with you to heat up soup, warm bread, make tea. For sick stomach, drop about 3 Ginger Altoids into your cup of tea, or plain water.
2. Get the meal plan even if you have to pay for it.
3. Remember that you can stand in line with your friends on scary rides, right up untill they get on :)
4. Keep in mind that you'll be sitting on bleachers for Fantasmic, with NO BACKS. Don't sit too close, or you may get some spray from the water.
See you soon with Part 2! (cough, sniff, sneeze)

Day 2
Up at 7am. Ate snacks in room (warm corn muffins - thanx Patricia!), got to EPCOT by 8:50am for rope drop.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG013.jpg
The one at Animal Kingdom was better. We grab our park maps and charge over to The Land to get on Soarin.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG014.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG016.jpg
The wait was about 10mins. The pre-show was really funny, along with the cast member who led us onto the "ride". Soarin was so relaxing that I wanted to take off my shoes and close my eyes. I loved it. Of course we followed everyone's advice and got Fast Passes to get on again.
Next we went over to Mission Space.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG019.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG018.jpg
Again I stood in line and opted out. We were going to get FP's so he could ride it again, but the Cast Member said that he didn't need one, and said "welcome to September". I didn't want to get on because the last time I rode it I got REALLY sick, and it took about 2hrs to recover.
Next was Test Track!
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG000.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG022.jpg
I was so excited about riding this again. There was a 10 min wait. Afterwards, we got FP's and looked at all the cars in the showroom. When we headed back to Soarin with our FP's, the regular line had a wait of 40mins. The FP wait was 15mins. Soarin the second time was as good as the first. But the part with the night city traffic made me and the lady next to me a liitle dizzy.
The beauty of Soarin being in The Land, is that you can come out and have lunch. Our food was really good, and we especially enjoyed the Butterfinger Cheesecake at the bakery. TIP! Remember that when you're on the Dinning Plan, that dessert is included in your counter service meal!
After lunch, it was HOT!!! As we're heading over to Spaceship Earth, I noticed how the greenery has not been trimmed. Part of the "coolness" of EPCOT are the square trees. Everywhere I looked, things were over grown, and untrimmed.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG002-1.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG003-1.jpg
Since it was sooo hot, after SE, we went to Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Imagination, then headed back to the resort around 2:45.
At 5pm we came back for our 6pm reservation at Restaurant Marrakesh in Morroco.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG004.jpg
I asked for a later reservation, but was told that the only time available was after 8pm. Needless to say, when we got there, the place was mostly empty, and was only half full at the end of our meal at 7:15. So we could have eaten later if we had just showed up.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG006.jpg
Dinner was really good, although I found out that I do not like lamb - at least I tried it.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/EPCOT%202005/IMG008.jpg
We ordered 2 alcoholic drinks each, that totalled 25.35, which bought our meal total to 99.00. WOW! Good thing we're on the plan! The belly dancer called out that day, so there was only live music. After my two drinks, I did volunteer though!!
After dinner we checked out some of the countries, and I finally got a chance to ride Malestrom in Norway. I loved it! No wonder they have Fast Passes for this!
Next, it's time to get ready for Illuminations. This was much better than I remembered! I was in total awe! As we were walking to the bus, I was SOOO tired and glad that I scheduled the next day as a SLEEP-IN!
Day 3
Slept in till 8:30! Ate breakfast at the dinning hall. The food was good, and it was not crowded. Afterwards, we headed over to the quiet pool. AHHH!!!!
Then it was onto Downtown Disney to catch the bus over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge's BOMA!
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG004.jpg
So here's the TIP! If you are taking Disney's buses from POR to AKL, LEAVE EARLY. We got to the bus stop in DTD at 3:15, and didn't get to AKL till 4:15. Our Boma reservation was for 5pm, so we went to the observation deck on the 2nd floor to see the animals. It was really nice! They have rocking chairs set up so you can relax and watch the animals.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG001.jpg
I would love to stay at this resort! Afterwards, we checked out the main pool, and the displays in the lobby, before heading to BOMA.
The dinner buffet was awesome. Lots of choices! Our waitress name was Hind, she was very nice! My favorites were the prime rib, peanut rice, and mini pineapple cheesecake. Now let me tell you about the cheesecake - there's no crust, insted a white chocolate wafer! I ate 3! When we were full, we hated to leave, and I was trying to figure out if I could schedule in another dinner during our trip! The buffet is $25/pp + 15% gratuity.
After dinner, we headed for Magic Kingdom for Spectro Magic and Wishes. Both were GREAT.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG014-1.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG015-1.jpg
I'm glad I scheduled to see this on a "free" day so my feet weren't hurting through the shows, and while walking to the buses. TIP! For Wishes, don't sit on the right side of the sidewalk facing the castle, sit on the left for a better view.
When we exited the park after Wishes, Mickey Mouse was standing on the train station waving and saying goodbye, and that he hoped everyone had a great time. I even waved back! I thought it was such a nice touch.
This was a great day! Now let's get some sleep!
Part 2 Final TIPS!
1. Schedule a Free Day
2. If visiting Disney when it's hot, take plenty of clothes. I showered and changed EVERYDAY in the afternoon when we went back to the room.

Day 4
Finally it's time to go to Magic Kingdom!
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG000-1.jpg
We got there just in time to see the end of the rope drop ceremony. We had 9:05am reservations for the breakfast buffet at Crystal Palace. The food was really good, and all the characters from Winnie the Pooh did make their way to our table.
My favorites on the buffet were the puffed french toast and (this will sound weird) chicken sausage - so so tastey! Our bill for two, came to 38.22. (Once again I see we dropped the ball - the tip was NOT included - AHHH!!!) This meal was worth the money, especially if you have kids.
While having breakfast, we discussed getting Fast Passes (FP's) for all the popular rides in Fantasy Land and head on over to Frontier Land. As we were on our way to Fantasy Land, we passed the attraction board which said that the waits were either 5mins or NONE. Surely this must be a mistake! So we bypass Tommorow Land since we rode the key rides there the night of the parade and fireworks. We slowly turn into Fantasy Land fully expecting the hoards of K I D S and see NOTHING!!!!! There were NO WAITS! I froze on the spot! I couldn't believe it!
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG013.jpg
First stop was the Tea Cups. I explained to my friend as we were walking toward them, DO NOT SPIN THE CUP OR I WILL DIE!
The ride was very nice, I did not get dizzy. But what disappointed me is that the top of the tea pot in the middle did not open so you could see the mouse/rat peep out at you.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/Magic%20Kingdom%2005/IMG011.jpg
We also rode Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Peter Pan, and Small World. All with NO WAITS!!! We decided to save Mickey's PhilharMagic for the end of the day when we're tired and need a break.
Most of the park had no waits except Jungle Cruise and Splash Mountain - 20mins.
On the way out, we took time to look at Cinderella's castle inside and out, and the fountain. OH! We even took time to look at the carrousel and noticed that the art work on it was Cinderella's story. See how you can take time to notice things when the park is not crowded?!
At the bottom of Main Street before the exit, I saw the bench with Walt Disney and Minnie on it. A Cast Member was there taking photopasses. When the couple in front of me went, the lady sat down first, and the guy got on one knee, pulled out a red velvet box and PROPOSED!!! :earseek: She looked as shocked as I was! She cried, said "yes" and then they headed into "Tony's". AHHHHH!
By this time - 2pm - it was very hot, and we were tired, so we headed back to the resort. We slept till 5pm, and got to MGM at 6:30pm because I thought it was extra magic hours night. Well, I was wrong! BOOO!!! So we did Star Tours and the Muppets with no wait. And I finally got to see the key under the mat at the Muppets ticket window! YAY! My friend got on Tower of Terror (20mins) and Rockin Rollar Coaster (no wait). I stayed in line on both rides and of course - opted out! I thought I would DIE when I saw the limo take off in Rockin Rollar Coaster! :faint:
At 8:15p we were hungry, and alot of places were closed, so we left, and had dinner at our resort, Port Orleans R. Dinner was very good. We ate in the dinning hall, and had chicken and ribs. Before going back to the room, I peeped in the arcade, and what did I see? MILLIPEDE!!!
I haven't seen this game since I was a kid!!! They also had Galaga, Ms.PacMan, Centipede, and Space Invaders. I felt like I had been crowned Miss America as I ran to the change machine and ran back to play the games of my youth :cloud9:
Day 5
Today was a scheduled free day. So we decided to go back to EPCOT to do some of our favorites again. Each time we rode Test Track during this trip, some part of the ride was messed up. So we were thankful that there were no waits, so we could have a "do over". But this day when we got on TT, the read out monitor in the car didn't work, nor did we have any audio. we noted the car number, told the cast member, and they let us ride again w/o getting back in line.
Before leaving EPCOT, I HAD to ride Malestrom again, and I loved it! On the way out, I paused to stare at Spaceship Earth, thanking God for allowing me to be here once again, and I waved goodbye :wave2:
By 2pm we were back at the resort and in the pool! Nice! But I got soooo bit up! I have about 5 bites on one foot! BOOO!!!
That night was extra magic hours at Magic Kingdom. We got there at 6:50pm, and got our wristbands. We then headed for "Casey's Corner" counter service for some food. This was the only meal we paid for. It came to 15.00.
While SpectroMagic was going on, we got on Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. We were disappointed that the headstone near the entrance with the lady on it, didn't work. It would've been cool to see her head and eyes move at night.
Next, Thunder Mountain! You MUST ride this at night. It's like a total THRILL ride, because you can't see where the track is taking you next! At one point when the train is going into the mountain, it looked like our heads were going to get chopped off!!! I laughed and giggled so much, that the lady in front of me said "I have thoroughly enjoyed riding this in front of you!" And of course she and her family, and my friend and I got back on again! It was totally AWESOME!
After we got off, it was time for Wishes. So we paused to watch it again. It was great! TIP! If you find yourself in Frontier Land when Wishes is about to start, stay there. Watch it in front of Splash Mountain - the part where you don't get splashed. Great view. Also, you can see SpectroMagic in Frontier Land easily. Since all the floats are lit up, you don't have to fight to be in the front of everyone.
We then headed over to TomorrowLand Transit Authority. This is SOOO much better at night. You can clearly see into Space Mountain. If you go to WDW during this time of year, I strongly suggest that you take advantage of the evening extra magic hours. The rides were either walk-ons or 10 to 20 mins waits. And the ride-experience is WAY different at night. I regret that I only did the EMH only at MK.
Our LAST day :sad1:
I have to admit that I was sad waking up knowing that this was our last day. But again, I just had to thank God that I was able to be there at all, and ask that I'll get to return again one day.
This morning I was sooo glad that I scheduled this trip to end on a Thursday, thus giving me a few days at home to recover before going back to work. Thank God, I did not have to be RIGHT BACK to work! (Especially now that I'm sick  )
We woke up late, and used all 3 of our left over counter service credits for breakfast at the resort. We boxed up our desserts to eat at the airport or on the plane. Yes, it was PECAN PIE!
We then headed for Downtown Disney. It was SOOO hot, that I hung out in one store, then announced that we HAD to go back to the hotel. That day, is was going to hit 97 in Orlando!
Before boarding the Magical Express Bus, we realized that we had snack credits left, so we got a few drinks to go with our desserts. We ended up with 4 unused snack credits. The Meal Plan worked out great for us. We only paid for one meal during our whole trip!
While in the airport and on the plane, we enjoyed our snacks from Port Orleans. I was glad not be STARVING when I arrived home to an empty refridgerator. But guess what? My Mom used her extra key, and left dinner food for me she cooked, which would last me the next few days! I LOVE her! :teeth: Hopefully the next time I go, my MOM will be with me!
In closing, this was a wonderful trip. I hope that this was a good first attempt at a trip report, and that my tips were helpful. So please let know! Please Respond!
See Ya! :wave2:

Gmax, what a great report! DH and I will be at POR in mid October and are hoping the heat goes away - Blah!
I have a question about your room. I see where building 90 is, but where exactly in the building is room 9014?
And about those pineapple cheesecake thingees at BOMA-omigawd I think they are the best desserts I've ever eaten...
Thanks for the report!

I'm glad you guys have enjoyed my report! And yes, I'm starting to feel better - finally, thanx!
Ktflisa, my room faced a courtyard, but to my immediate left was the parking lot. When I walked to the parking lot, I had to follow a path, going left through the lot, to get to the shuttle bus stop. At night though, we did get a little confused finding the room.
From the main building, after crossing the bridge to the mansion section, I had to walk to the left, and I took the last path between Oak Manor, and the beginning of the next section. And since 9014 was towards the parking lot, I had to walk almost to the very back.
As I said before, the resort is gorgeous, and I wish I was able to stroll around and enjoy it more. But after walking all day, that wasn't going to happen. And I wish I was closer to the bus stop and main bldg than I was. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask anything else.

I'm so glad that you all enjoyed my report! :cheer2: I didn't realize how much work goes into these!
Lynn, I hope you have a great time next week. I forgot to include to make yourself stop and pose for the Cast Members to take your photopass pictures. I Just got finished looking at mine and they're really nice.
HINT: Remember that you'll have the option of buying these pictures, so if you would like a picture alone in front of some landmark, ask the CM to take one of you ALONE. That way you'll have a better choice of photos, and won't be mad when your photo in front of the castle has a person in it with their eyes closed.

How could I forget to include two REALLY exciting things that happened at the beginning and end of my trip? (I know it was the cold medicine)
At the airport in Baltimore (BWI) when going to Florida, I saw the actors Malik Yoba and (sexy so sexy) Blair Underwood! :earseek: They were here to promote the movie that came out this weekend called "G". Blair was actually in line in front of me at the Roy Rogers in the airport. I wanted to die! I kept asking myself how could that red head on Sex and the City dump him for the bar tender? He's even FINER in person!
When I arrived back home, I saw Al Roker from The Today Show in the elevator. He was here for the home town wedding in Baltimore.
It was really cool having 2 celebrity citings on my trip!

MJ, it was hot, but I think more humid. As a result, I took a mid break everyday, took a shower and changed clothes. BUT I would rather go through all of that with NO CROWDS :thumbsup2
GrumpyGirl, so cool that we're in the same city! Now if I could find a "GrumpyGuy" in Bmore, that would REALLY be great!!!! :rolleyes1
Thank you both for reading my report. When I go back in September, I think I will attempt to have pictures in my report :badpc: We'll see . . .
nice report, but I'd just like to make 1 suggestion to you incase you make future ones. Try to make your report less of a list and more of a story, it felt like it was in bullet form (ie like a power point presentation) sometimes. It was still enjoyable to read though, and a good first report :thumbsup2

Bumping to keep this little ditty alive!
Gmax-I love your pictures! How fun we were there at the same time. No, we weren't in any of your background pictures. That would have been funny!
Hope to bump into you next time :goodvibes !!!!

Thanks Mama! Adding the pictures to this thread was good practice. Hopefully my next trip report will be even better!
The cast for the next trip is short:
Me: 30something who loves Disney and sunny vacations, loves to watch TV :happytv: , ex-Atari expert, HUGE SEAL FAN, single w/no kids YET(cause Seal nor Djimon Hounsu know that I exsist), tall and often mistaken for a WNBA player. My most common saying: No, I don't play basketball!
Mom: 60something who looks younger than her age, not a real Disney fan, but is willing to endulge her beautiful daughter! HA! Her co-workers always tell me how nice she is, to which I respond, "Thanks, I tried really hard with her". Hopefully she will retire in a year or two.
This will be our 3rd Mother and Daughter trip to WDW. The 1st was May 1998 at Caribbean Beach Resort, and the 2nd - September 2003 Comfort Suites Maingate East (excellent hotel BTW!).
For some reason, our trip in 1998 was our first "solo" trip ever. My Mother didn't even realize it untill we were there. We had such a wonderful time, and I hope this time will be even better! So stayed tuned for a bigger and (hopefully) better trip report for September 2006!!! :thumbsup2

Today I am finally at my one-month mark! I can't believe that it's almost time to go, and that in one month I'LL BE THERE!!! My Mother is looking forward to going on vacation, but is not REAL excited about Disney. I hope the next time I go, it'll be with someone who is EXCITED!
Now I'm waiting on the Crocs I ordered to arrive - I really hope they get here before I leave! Other than that, I keep visiting the Tips Board to make sure I have everything. You can never have too many Lime Geen Mickeys right? :thumbsup2
See ya later!

Why didn't you tell me????
Your report was very informative, but I have one question: Why go on the teacups if you don't want to spin, woman? :confused3 :lmao:
I can't wait to get to the arcades now that I know they have games like Millipede, Galaga, and Ms PacMan. I bought my daughter one of those old-school game packs and it had Galaga and Ms. PacMan. She didn't like the old school games (I knew she wouldn't) so I play them all the time.
And girl!!!! Malik Yoba!!!! YOu should have told him I said hello!! Didn't you know my name was supposed to be Tamara Yoba!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Thanks for your responses everyone! I'm really starting to get excited about my trip now. Everytime I think I'm not ready because I don't have everything that The Dis says I should get, I remind myself that I did go to WDW 7 times before I found this site, and had a great time, so this time should be great as well! :thumbsup2
Thanks again for reading, and I'll be back soon with more . . .

This has been an interesting pre-Disney period for me. My Mother is not that excited about going, and someone who I thought was going to join us cancelled about 2 weeks ago - shortly before I started to do my one month dance. You know how you imagine what you will be doing, plan your trip around the people you're going with, and picture what all of you will be doing? Well, all of that has changed, and now I have to pretend that I'm SUPER excited inspite of everything, and still make the plan work, even though it was partially geared towards the one who cancelled :sad2: But I keep reminding myself that at least I'm still going, and who knows, maybe while I'm there, someone will tap me and say, "Excuse me, are you on The DIS?"
So now my focus has shifted a bit. I went from trying to inform everyone of reservations, plans, and co-ordinating T-shirts, to being on The DIS ALL THE TIME, and trying to figure out how to make myself visible so you guys can spot me. Which - let's keep it real - will NOT be that hard since Black people are in the minority in WDW. So when you see two Black women together, and one is 6feet tall, just look at her bag to see if she has a Limey, and it'll be me!
As for pre-trip shopping UtahMama :wave2: , I have good news and bad news. Bad news is, I ordered 2 different styles of Crocs from the site: the ones with no holes, and the ones with just the holes on the side. Well, they are both just a little too short. If I ordered the next size up, they would be too big. So I have to send them back :sad2: Good news is that I went to Nordstrom and bought another pair of Cayman's. So at least I'll have 2 pair now - navy and chocolate - to match my outfits.
Other things that I have gotten are anti-chaffing products, solid colored shirts which include apple green and lime, 2 moisture-wicking Bali bras on sale at JC Penny for $14.00, and moisture wicking socks - 6pack for $7.70. I've been careful to only buy things that I know I will use AFTER the trip. Gas is too high to buy a bunch of junk!
Next I think I'm going to make a few more Mickeys for my lugguage, and buy a 2gig memory card in addition to the 1gig I already have. Hopefully, that'll be enough.
Sorry I ranted a bit, but I can't hold stuff for too long. I am excited about going, but everything isn't peaches and cream. That's life I guess. (Man, I sound like "Debbie Downer" from SNL)
Hopefully when you hear from me again, I'll some more jokes and funny stories to tell! See ya later! It's almost time to go!!! :teeth:

I really enjoyed your report and your pictures. You are really blessed to have 2 trips in such a short amount of time. You must be living right!
I would be thrilled if my mom ever wanted to go to WDW. She has absolutely zero interest - it makes me sad. :guilty: I would love to experience some of the things that my family loves with her but she will have no part. I think, she thinks, we are all nuts!!! Disney nuts...we are!!! Oh Well!!
It looks like our trips may be around the same time frame. We will be at POP 9/9 -9/17. I'll keep my eyes open and we'll be looking for you.
Have a magical trip.

We always draw attention...I think it's because ds is so, so cute! :goodvibes Anyway, we will be at POP (our first value stay-hoping its as great as everyone says)..and hitting all of the in spots! I'm going to try to make a list before I leave with some discriptions you've given me so I can spot you in the parks.
Cherokee - I thought that waiting a whole year between vacations was a long time. Thanks for reminding me that it really isnt. Thank God it's almost time to go! But I still dont think I can do Rockin Rollar Coaster. That take off is KILLER! Sorry about your Mom have NO interest. I guess I should be glad my Mom has some.
At least a week before I leave - Fri.14th - I will post how to spot me! So hopefully you guys will know what to for. Don't worry, I won't have on a Lime feather boa with a lime wig! :rotfl:

Well, in just over 2 weeks, I'll be in Disney World! I'm really excited, but in true GMAX fashion, I'm a bit anxious. EVERY Disney trip has involved some kind of drama. Finally I thought that this one would be okay, but as I reported earlier, our third person cancelled, and it's too late to change the ADRs. So I'm praying, that when we show up as a party of 2 insted of 3, that it'll be okay :guilty:
This pre-trip period is really weird because I find myself just waiting to go. My house is a MESS! And I've slacked a bit on the treadmill. I think the only thing I've accomplished is making those Mickeys for my bags! Shame!
Saturday I'm supposed to meet with a walking group I just joined last week. My intention is to build up to a good(ish) pace so I won't feel like I'm going to die be the 3rd day of my trip. So we'll see. I did pretty well last week!

Gmax, your report was great. I loved the pictures and the descriptions. You actually planned a free day?
I never even thought of that until this year. And it's not really free, it's pool day, horseride day, laundry day, though it's titled Free Day... :teeth:
I do read the trip reports, but usually as a lurker and not as a responder. I'm trying to get over that. I keep thinking, "Why would they want to hear from me?" So I am now thoroughly chastised and I am ashamed of myself for lurk reading. It won't happen again! ;)

Glenda & Eeyore....12 more days for moi (11 and a half when I include the flight)
20 more days till my 39th birthday. I will be wearing a tiarra on the 13th!
This time period is kinda stressful. Packing and organizing. I also bought a little package of Dramamine so I can go on Mission Space this time! Last year I chickened out because the g-forces might have made me sick(I usta could go on spinny rides) and I've regretted it ever since.
I was scared of Rockin RollerCoster and Tower of Terror last year too but ended up riding the heck out of them!!!
I would LOVE to see the photo of G'max freaking out on RnR!!!! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/mad/620.gif

I would LOVE to get on Rockin Rollar Coaster. But I cant stand sudden take offs. Again, I wish I had a scanner. I rode 2 coasters like that at KingsDominion in Virginia. On one picture, my mouth is open SO WIDE, that I you could see my very soul! I look like the cartoon with the flip top head on the REACH toothbrush commercials.

I think we should ride that puppy together!!!!
That will be my new wallpaper! G-max opened up like a Pezz dispenser and the rest of us acting petrified!
Think we can get Sneezie on???
Eeyore! It's FUN!!!! You can do it! The Twilight Zone story-line is so bizzare and the special effects are supposed to be authentic (B-movie style). I was petrified too and did NOT ride it for the longest time! Now it's on the must-do list at MGM. Same story with Rockin Rollercoaster! The take off isnt that bad because the music is CONCERT loud so your heart is already pumping through your chest!

If you can get Sneezie on, I might brave it. But we have one called the Cliff Hanger at Six Flags and it makes things in my body shift to places they shouldn't be. Oooh just thinking about it hurts my tummy. No eating before this or embaressment. I had planned on trying the Rockin Rollercoaster-for some weird reason, if the rollercoaster is in the dark I can ride it with no problem. I guess it's because i don't anticipate what's coming. I just hate that chink, chink, chink, chink as your climbing to the top. :sad2:
I'm such a wimp now. I used to be the first one on in the front seat, ready to go. Now, post babies, I don't think everything is tied down inside anymore. :teeth:

So sorry that I don't have a scanner so you all can see my ride photos. That will definetly be a post-Disney purchase!
Last year, I considered getting on Rockin Rollar Caoster. I even got in line. When I got to the part where I could see the car taking off, I nearly LOST it! But then I even waited to see another one take off thinking that maybe I was just shocked. NO! There was no way I was going to do it! I really think that I would enjoy it since there are no steep drops. But that sudden take off would be the death of me . . . :faint:
Also, I have to tell you Ladies that as excited as I will be to finally see you in person, I WILL NOT EVER RIDE TOWER OF TERROR AGAIN!!! The very memory of that ride is scary!
Thanks to everyone who has read my report  . I promise to add more as the days get closer!

When I was still a shy new disser, I searched "September" and your TR was the first one I read closely followed by the epic Zzub report. Mission Space: I am so glad they have a tame version of this now. That will be what I ride from now on. I think 'Mama is courageous for taking Dramamine and getting on, becuz I'll NEVER do it again. I was fine during the ride, but as I was walking down the hallway to the exit, I started to feel funny. I was sick for the next 2 hours :sad2:
The Rope Ceremonies are different at each park. I only got to see all of EPCOT's and Animal Kingdom's. The main characters come out, talk to the crowd, there's music, and then the CM's walk you in. I caught the tail end of the one at Magic Kingdom, and did not get to MGM early enough to see it. I liked the one at Animal Kingdom the best. Hopefully you'll get to see that one. It was really cute and had a little surprise.

Absoluetely LOVED your report - can't believe I missed your post and didn't read it sooner! You sound like so much fun to be with on a trip - you're invited to come along with us (we're finally going October 27th and can't wait!)
We had originally planned on going Sept 17th 5 nites at BWV with a Boardwalk view (was SO looking forward to sitting on the balcony watching Epcot fireworks) but couldn't get the money together :sad1:
But we finally are getting it all worked out with a DVC owner with standard view at BWV and am so excited.
You gave me some awesome tips (riding Big Thunder at night, stand in front of Splash, and sitting on the left side facing the Castle) - thank you!!
P.S. I live down here in Fredericksburg and was planning on taking a flight out of Regan National but find the flights from Baltimore even cheaper - you're from that area - is it worth the drive do you think?

Glad I seemed fun to you! I wish I could go back with you in October!
Now that gas is higher, you have to weigh if you would spend the difference in gas driving to BWI. That's what I would do.
Also, I'm glad you liked my report. Some suggested that next time I make it more of a story, insted of a list of things I did. I'm REALLY going to try to that next time. But I don't know what you guys would want to hear. Sometimes I feel like I'm writing in a journal to myself. So we'll see. Like I said before I MAY just do a bunch of pics with some tips.

nice report, but I'd just like to make 1 suggestion to you incase you make future ones. Try to make your report less of a list and more of a story, it felt like it was in bullet form (ie like a power point presentation) sometimes. It was still enjoyable to read though, and a good first report :thumbsup2

Thanks for your tr, Glenda. I happen to like the brief report rather than story form, especially since I'm looking for helpful tips such as you have given. I especially like that you put TIP: because if I need to scan it quickly, I can do that.
Thanks for the heads up on sick stomach. We're going in Nov, and there's always a chance that someone will need your advice.
I was impressed by the lack of crowds when you went. I've been a little concerned about the timing of our trip, which is during Jersey Week (Nov 8-12). I didn't know about Jersey Week when I committed. When we went in Dec 2004, it was not crowded, but it was very cold, if you can believe that. Our pirate: cruise for our DGS, then 7, was altered due to the cold. It was colder in Olando than WA state!!
I want to take advantage of EMH, but folks seem to warn against it. Good to hear your experience was a good one.
Are you going with the same friend this year?

Are you going with the same friend this year?
Grmammy
No, This year, I'm going with my Mother. She just goes with me cause she knows how happy it makes me. But hopefully the next time I'll go with someone as excited as I am.
In the next trip report, I will make sure to include "TIP" in it. I'm glad you found it helpful, and not too boring. Also, I am going to try to catch an evening EMH at MK if we arent too tired. The park is BEAUTIFUL at night, and riding Thunder Mountain in the dark is the best!

[QUOTE=Lan]I enjoyed your trip report and can't wait to hear about your adventure when you get back. I do understand about not being hard to miss. I am a 34 year old African American but not as tall as you. I guess you could spot me because I would be the woman on Mickey's arm after pushing Minnie away :rotfl:
Hey Lan! Thanks for reading my report! Another "Sista" on the boards! See, I knew I wasn't the only one! :wave2:
If I went by my real name on these boards, you would of known I was a "sista" without me saying a work to you.
By the way, my real name is Elantrice. :Pinkbounc

Lan- I dont think GlendaMax is gonna ride Tower of Terror. It terrifies her. She turns into a combination Reach-flip-top-head and PEZ dispensor. I'm gonna ply her with liquor and tell her Seal's on that pretty elevator! I'm going to put up the picture for auction on e-bay.
UtahMama, what method of payment would u like in order me me to contribute to the liquor buying to get GlendaMax on that ride?

Glad you had a good time, and thanks for sharing it with us!
It was very interesting to me the time it took you to get to AKL from POR. Last year we went from Coronado Springs to AKL and it didn't seem like it took that long...this year I made reservations at Boma for dinner after AK closes so it should be a pretty quick trip over there and a nice way to wind down after a day at the parks. I know what you mean about AKL..I want to stay there too, it is really gorgeous!

I'd go on with you, but that means that I'd have to go on, and I actually don't think I can do that....I went once, and NEVER again. I HATE elevators, and this one is no different....so I'm with you!

UMama, I've been on it before... twice actually. I went on it when my dd was finally big enough to ride it. She rode it with my sister and came back to tell me that "it wasn't that bad" I got on it.... I soon realized that my dd is wild and crazy! She'll ride anything!!! I didn't konw that then... I know it now.
Why did I ride it twice? Because when I went on the first time I said I would have to buy the picture or no one back home would believe that I rode it, but the lady in front of me lifted her hand and covered me totally. You couldn't tell that I was even there, so I had to ride it again. The second time I asked for a front row seat.

This time last year I was excited about my upcomming trip. It had been 7 years since I'd stayed on property for a "real" Disney trip. The house I bought a year earlier was finally starting to feel like home, and I was starting to finally look at it and feel proud.
I booked my trip on June 30th, and found this site a month later. I made my dinner reservations, which I later found out were called "ADRs". With Disboards, I felt my world had changed: I found people like me.
Finally it's almost time to go, then here come hurricane Katrina. For the first time in my lifetime, I saw people in America, who looked like me, and talked like me, whom were stranded, left. I felt sorry for them and thought, well, they'll get help tomorrow. Then the next day I thought the same. All the while I'm on Disboards planning my trip. To my shame, I looked up from the computer and realized 5 DAYS had gone by, and the people were STILL STUCK! They were simply LEFT!
Well, I was in front of the TV for DAYS. And even started to feel guilty about my trip. When we checked in, and started looking at CNN, I was pulled in again. Then I decided, there is no way we can be here AND watch CNN for the entire trip.
Now here I am preparing for this year's trip. I've bought what The DISers said, I have my Mickeys, and I looked at the news. It's a year later and people's lives are still uprooted. Neighborhoods still abandoned. Families still separated. And home owners who have paid home insurance for years have nothing. But still I plan. . . Feels weird, feels wrong sometimes . . .
Even if you don't ride Tower of Tower, just have fun.

Glenda it sounds like you are beating yourself up over there. :sad2: Tragic things are always wrong. Stop feeling guilty. :guilty: Life goes on even after something bad like this happens. We are humans, we just keep striving.
Sometimes we can't do anything, sometimes we choose not to do anything, and sometimes we are able to do what we can. I don't believe you are the type to not do anything so don't condemn yourself for not being able to help fix what no one else has been able to fix yet. Just keep praying for them.
Here's a few websites to offer what ever you can for them:

On this one above, you can rate on a scale of 0-9 where you want your money to go from a list of people who need help.

No ET, I'm not beating myself up, nor do I have an overwhelming sense of guilt. It's just sad to think that while my main concern is making a tee shirt or getting all my Mickeys together, there are so many people still trying to survive a year later.

I shared many of those same feelings last year this time. I felt terrible doing the "I am almost to WDW" happy dance and even being at WDW and knowing such a horrible event was playing itself out...but I took comfort in knowing I was praying for them...and me having a horrible time at WDW or skipping it all together was not going to help anyone in anyway...after that, we didn't turn on the news until we got home.
I was just thinking about this very thing again today after seeing a news report.
By the way...great trip report (and pre report for the upcoming one;)). I cannot wait to read more upon your return!
Thanks for sharing!! :)

Glad you can understand how I felt, and still feel. I was so glad when I was able to donate some money. Hopefully it fell into the right hands. After Disney, I'm going to try to send some more.
This weekend is supposed to be rainy here in Baltimore, so hopefully I'll have another installment - a happier, packing frenzied one! So stayed tuned . . .

Hello everyone! I can't believe that this time next week I will be in Disney World! Now the prayers are really beginning . . . "Jesus please keep me safe, and well. Jesus please let us have a GREAT time, etc. . . . ".
I wanted to do something special for my Mother, so that this one trip will stand out to her. This is hard to do for someone who isnt Disney-Crazy like me, because she wont realize how special the "it" is. So I decided to be a bit selfish and do something for her, that I wanted too - matching t-shirts. It is a surprise, so she has no idea what I've been going through trying to do this. Unfortunantly, I am NOT computer savey nor crafty. So needless to say, this has been a most frustrating week trying to do the most simplest of tasks. THANK YOU EEYORE'S TIARA for putting up with me! (You know how you tell someone to let you know if they need anything, and then they do, and do, and do, and do, and whine, and do? Well that's what I've been doing to ET.) So thank you!!!!
Today, since it is a rainy Saturday, I'm going to attempt to finish the shirts (2 matching, and one DIS), and start straightening and cleaning the house. I have to work all week, and know that it not feasible to work, get ready for the trip, make t-shirts and additional Lime Mickeys, do laundry and pack. So I HAVE to start today!
When I woke up this morning and decended the stairs and saw how tore-up my living was, I started to take a picture of it and post it. But I did not want the Oprah crew to show up saying I was going to featured on her show "People who look normal, but have tore-up houses". I just knew that someone (and I won't name names) would copy and paste my photos and send them to Oprah. (See, I didn't say your names Sneezy, ET, and 'Mama)
So there you have it folks! I am excited but now I REALLY have to start getting ready. . . . See ya later! (Tower of Happiness - HA!)

i just want to suggest something here, I noticed you were looking to to something special with your Non-Disney crazy Mom. Might I suggest the Afternoon Tea @ the GF, I believe the hours are 2-6 and since it's only a hop on the monorail from MK, it would be a great break for your Mom (possibly yourself) during the Hot and Humid afternoon. Its not on the DDP so getting an ADR should not be hard, but form what I heard it is worth every penny. PS If you call Disney dinning for an ADR, make sure you ask for the "AFternoon Tea at the GF Cafe, otherwise you might get the Princess Tea Party.

I made two of these for my Mother and I ...After I made it, I found out that I could not iron on the crystals I bought, so I made little hidden Mickeys with them on the sides. On the back of my shirt is a small green Mickey head. I forgot to take a picture of that.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/IMG_0358.jpg
Below is the back of a green t-shirt I bought. I put "DISboards.com" on the back. I dotted the "i" with a crystal.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/IMG_0364_2.jpg
This is the right sleeve of the shirt. It has the same thing on it, but the dot is a crystal. The crystal was supposed to cover the dot, but it moved as I ironed it on. :sad2:
I did put a crystal on the dot on the back of the shirt (in the picture above), but it did not stick.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l301/glendamax/IMG_0369_2.jpg
So that's it folks! I'm DONE! If I get a chance, I will take a picture of the green DISer Mickey on the back of the white shirt that my Mother and I have alike. I only put the DISer on the back of mine. See Ya Later :wave2:

Glenda, those are absolutely perfect. I couldn't have done it better myself. I think it's perfect with the crystals on the side like that! It gives it just the right touch. Probably better than putting them anywhere else. :woohoo: I can't believe you're trying to tell me your craft handicapped. I'm not buying it! These make you look like a pro and now I want one! :goodvibes
I give it two thumbs up! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

GM, how on Earth could I have not yet posted to your Trip Report?? I've already congratulated you on your superb T-shirt-making-ability, so please allow me to now commend you on your excellent trip reporting skills as well!
I had no idea you're coming down with your not-as-Disney-obsessed Mom. I know she'll have a great time! Since my divorce 3+ years ago, my Mom has accompanied me and DS on our annual holiday trips to the world. She does not get the Disney thing at all, so I'm always so worried about her when we go. She's also not a morning person. Or an afternoon person. She's more of a 3am person. Imagine this with a 2,3,4 year old who's rearing to go at 7am! :rotfl: And yet, when I booked our upcoming Dec. trip, I told Mom not to feel obligated to come with us, I was okay with taking DS myself if she'd rather not go. Guess what? She really wants to join us! And she's genuinely excited to stay at the Boardwalk Inn, where we've often... I mean never :rolleyes1 parked when going to Epcot. They come around eventually :earsgirl:
Sure hope we run into you guys over the weekend - I'll be on the lookout! :magnify:

After some sleep, I got some better shots of the shirts, and took a picture of the back of mine with the Hidden DISer on it. I got the design off of the Creative DISign board. LAter today, I'll find out who designed it, so I can thank them.
Below is the white shirt my Mom and I have alike, but I have the DISign on the back of mine.

This is the plain green shirt I bought. There's nothing on the front, only DIS on the back and the sleeve.

Thank you so much everyone for your feedback! I'm glad you like the shirts. It kinda hard to tell how something looks after working on it alone for hours. I'm glad you all enjoyed the trip report, and is looking forward to reading the next.
I did reply to you guys earlier, but can't find it! I even said something smart back to Lan ;)
Well, I will check back in later today. Thanks again!
What did you say smart to me? :rotfl:

Doesn't the park open until 11 right? How'd you guys get in at 8? We will be staying at POP come August and it is our first time doing the resort few days deal we usually only do day trips once a year.

While I was there, the parks closed at 9pm. But keep in mind that the hours are different during off peak season. Take a look at the park hours on Disney's site.

As for EE, I plan on riding that LAST. I'm going to get a FP as soon as I enter the park, and when our day there is over, ride it and LEAVE.
And you're right, the pre-trip is longer! This year I intend to do the same. I will add a little bit more personal stuff, but it wont be too long.
Thanks for reading though, smarty pants!!!! ;) OH! Meet us as the airport on this Friday at 10:30am. I'm 5'2", blonde, and I have 6 kids. You can't miss me!

Hey Lan and "Ilovepooh"! If you want to use the crystals ON your design, make sure you ask someone how to do it, so you wont ruin the image. My only guess is fabric glue.
Lan, I just sent you .12cents in the mail towards your annual pass . . . :rotfl2:
GM - thank you for the 12 cents! It is 12 cents more than what I had to put towards the pass. :rotfl:

Well everyone, thanks so much for reading, posting and even "lurking" on my thread. It's been fun.
I leave for Mecca on tomorrow afternoon, and still have alot to do. So just in case I didn't have time to post later, I thought I'd do so now :)
One thing that I almost forgot to buy, that is starting to be a tradition with me on trips, is a cheap Target digital watch. I started doing this after going to the beach a few times, and not wanting to get my "nice" waterproof watch wet. So now, when I go into the pool, I won't flinch when I put my arm in the water, and if it breaks or get stolen, it was ONLY 10 bucks! :thumbsup2 The first one I bought about 4 years ago was lavendar with sparkles! Where else can you wear a watch like that but on vacation? This time the one I bought is black, waterproof, has a velcro band, lights up when you press a button, and has an alarm function.
After buying a few more things, I finally started to pack. I am SO happy that I have enough outfits. I know that people do laundry so they can pack less and not run out of clothes, but I didnt want to HAVE to do laundry. So I am proud to say that I think I have enough outfits this time! Of course I'm going to do a recount later today, but I think I've done it! I even followed other people's advice and packed some of my things with those LARGE zip-lock bags. I do believe that it's left me with more room in my suitcase! :thumbsup2
Today was my hair day. I took my braids out, and got my hair done. My hair is so shiney and bouncey, and I'm feeling sooooo girly. But I can't help but wonder, "What in the world will I look like by day 3 when I meet up with some of my fellow DISers?" Perhaps I should take a picture of "GMAX less than 24 hours fresh from the hair salon". I really fear that by Monday, I'll look like this  But we'll see . . .
With time ticking down, I'm still going to try to clean the house, so I can come back to a sparkling home! I have to leave notes with the neighbors, and make sure that I've turned everything OFF. Strangely enough, the weather here has been quite cool - the low 70s - so I havent had to turn on the air. So I'm leaving this weather to sweat like a PIG and walk about 10 miles a day :sad2: At least I'll be eating well. By the time I do meet up with the gang on Monday they'll be thinking "Gmax isn't bring sexy back, she's bring FAT back!!!! :lmao:
Again, thanks for reading everyone! I promise to start early on my next trip report with pictures!
 :wave2:
Next Season on the GMAX trip report . . .
Was Gmax able to clean her house before her trip?
Did she buy a digital camcorder the day before she left?
Will Gmax ride the Tower of Happiness?
Have A Safe And Fun Trip!!!!!!

Glendamax ... I just found your thread a few minutes ago and feel like I've been going through all the pre-planning with you. I wish I was going with you, because you sound like me ... we'd have a blast! Wishing best of luck with weather for you (I know it won't be crowded at all), and a safe trip there and back. Can't wait to read all the details of your trip (especially about the FOOD) and see the wonderful pictures (especially about the FOOD).
And I sincerely hope your mom enjoys the trip way more than she planned to.
Good luck and have a ball!

Your shirts are great! Did you have fun? Did you ride all the scary rides?
Thanks for the watch tip!
I don't wear a watch when I'm not at WDW. Last year I bought one of the 50th anniversary watches, but it ended up not being even remotely waterproof. I wash my hands a lot and that combined with the humidity had the inside all foggy. :sad2:
I think I'll go get a cheap plastic one for this year. I hate wet leather.
I think that she should of gotten back yesterday.

Crowds were great, weather was a little rainy, I did NOT ride the Tower of Happiness, I did ride Expedtion Everest, my Mother had a GREAT time, I enjoyed all my meals except Coral Reef, I took a LOT of pictures and notes, I loved staying at French Quarter, we mostly had NO waits, and yes, I missed you all! See ya later - need food, need sleep!!!
