We're looking forward to our "Birthday trip" to FW. DW-11/30 & mine 11/29. We don't want to miss the campfire singalong. Approximately, what time will it begin? Thanks for your help.

What are your dates youare going to be there? We are going from 11/22 to 11/27. Girls and I are crashing my parent's motorhome as my fifth wheel is still in the shop. I am not one bit proud! :teeth:

11/25 - 12/3 Maybe we'll finally get to meet!
I'm sure you're parents motorhome will be just fine. As they say, the more the merrier!

If Ms. Sundee sees us at the sing a long, she will introduce us. I have met BigDisneyDaddy that way. I love the fact that she never forgets a face. I hope we do get to meet as I will have all 4 of my girls there. Ages 10, 8, 7 and 4. We have requested the 1700 loop. Ms. Sundee will know my site number as she makes time to come have dinner with us. I don't know if she will this time as it won't be my camper.

The odds of running into mrsgus at FW are pretty high considering she is there more than she is at home :rotfl:
Of course I am envious !
BTW, I put a new graphic on the FRONT of the trailer so now its easier to tell its us. "The Carters"

Hey! Wait a minute! I know for a fact that one other camping disser moved closer to disney so they can go more often! (names withheld to protect the innocent!) No, I did not move. Is the graphic removable or did you have it painted on? You may wake up one morning and just find the "Fenton MI" part still there. However, my fifth wheel would look great with "The Carters" placed on front. How convenient :rotfl2:

Didnt we have that southward migration discussion before ?
The graphics are vinyl just like the one on the back (that the trees hid) I also took the ugly factory vinyl lettering off of the trailer and it cleaned the look up quite a bit.
tell me what color and I will get one for you, its even in a Disney style font.
The wife of a good friend of mine has a small graphics company, they do all the stuff for the Big red trucks that I work on.
All ya gotta do is ask the right people !

It's been so long since I have seen my camper, I don't know what the colors on the outside are :confused3 . Any color will do. I do know (think) there was green somewhere on the outside. Had to be green, it's an Everst. I don't know. I will have to go to a camping dealership and pull it up. Oh, by the way, I almost got a surprise trip this week as Ophelia could not make up her mind where she was going. About moving south......I did not say I moved closer. I would if I could, but Skeeter ain't moving to Disney. There is a certain camper (she will know I am talking about her and will probably post soon). A little ot, talked to Ms. Sundee Saturday, said to tell ya hi! Maybe if you have Verison she will put you on speed dial. :teeth:

Yeah, yeah, we moved everyone here to Orlando just to be closer to FW--oh, and to enjoy Florida weather in the winter, too! I'm closer to FW than Tennessee--just farther away from work. Oh, well, work is a four-letter word that happens in between FW trips! At least I can go every other weekend now. But I still want to spend the summers there like mrsgus and the winters like some others. Please?!? :rotfl:

Oh, there you are! What took you so long to post and defend yourself. Bigdisneydaddy thought I moved closer to go more often. About the work part, my dad says that it is the curse of the poor. Looks like it. My poor hubby works all the time. He said he could slow down if we did not go to Disney as much. I told him that I was glad he was still young as it looks like he will be working hard for a long time. :teeth:

She keeps bragging that its only 400 miles for her to get to WDW. I prefer to think of myself as more committed because I have to drive 1100 + miles.
I think she is slightly insecure because Ms Sundee told me she likes me better :cool1:

Committed? Please, you call taking 2 kids is committed? That is a walk in the park. Try taking 5 kids for 8 weeks, now that is committed....no wait...after taking 5 kids for 8 weeks, I needed to be committed. Sorry, my mistake. I am looking forward to another 8 weeks next summer. Already started booking and paying, booking and paying. Care to join us (me and Ms. Sundee) for an afternoon/lunchbreak chit chat next year. Please be sure and pass along a "howdy" to Ms Sundee from us.
She seems to be very excited about her trip to CA

o.k., I called Ms. Sundee and she said her favorites were Plutospup and Campingcorgi! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Then she mumbled something about a general restraining order for the Carters (must mean you) :rotfl2: .
Campingcorgi,, 35 miles away is just wrong on so many levels. Logan says that Lauren is her bestest friend and needs to spend EVERY weekend at her house. Do you think I can work that angle with hubby? :rolleyes1

I think we need a more neutral third party to check this whole favorite thing out... say next Friday ?
I think Campingcorgi could check this out for us !
I have always found her posts to be very insighful and well written :teeth:
We could all get together at Christmas if some people would get their school system thinking right.
Turns out we end up getting out on the 20th ! now I have to try to get the 22nd added on to my ressies. I dont have to be back to work until Jan 4th :cool1:
Hopefully Santa will be at the campfire on Christmas eve again, I need to talk to him about some lumps of coal I need dropped off :wave2:

[QUOTE=bigdisneydaddy]I have always found her posts to be very insighful and well written :teeth:
Is there a butt kissing smilie on the boards?
Maybe Ms. Sundee will go by those closest to her, making Campingcorgi 1st (35 miles) , ME 2ND (427), Plutospup third (because everywhere is closer than Fenton MI) and you last because YOU ARE STILL 1100 MILES AWAY :rotfl2:
Just remember, I may or may not be there for Christmas, but I am definately going in November, which happens to come before December, so I am going to do some brown nosing. In case I don't go in December, I will quickly follow up with a visit in January to do some more brown nosing. :teeth:
Or, maybe Campingcorgi can make the final decision. Although you find their posts to be very insightful and well written, I find both Barbara and Cathy to be wonderful people. I spent many times talking to them IN PERSON and they are not only insightful and well written, but also beautiful, intelligent, warm, caring and well spoken. Not to mention their youngest is now my youngest bestest friend in the "wide wide world" and I also have 3 other girls that think the world of her. How about it Campingcorgi? Can we hold a tribal counsel and vote the Fenton MI Carters out? :rotfl2:

smart means knowing when you are outgunned.
I think there is a gender based conspiracy going on here. Is there someone I can call to get some equality ?
Seriously, I think Ms Sundee has room in her heart for us and plenty more.
Were you around In Feb back in the late 90's early 2000's ???
I can recall a boy named "Duncan" that was there every year during the time around Valentines (when we used to go before school messed up our trips)
He would come up on stage every night when Sundee ask if anyone was having a birthday. Apparently when Duncan was at FW every day was like a birthday ! thats when I knew she was a special person, the look on that boys face when she had him up on stage was priceless....
Then my oldest Nick started his run of award winning "Davy Crockett" performances.

I've been reading all of your posts for several months as we suffered through the agony of trying to book a full hook-up site for Christmas and as we get more excited because our trip dates are coming closer! (I can even do a double-digit dance now) :cheer2: (btw, did someone say that Santa arrives at the Fort? wow!)
:rolleyes1 I've been jealous of all of you who get to spend weeks at a time (campingcorgi, mrsgus, bigdisneydaddy, etc.) because it seems like you all are one big happy family who are "in the know" and don't seem to have problems with making ressies or with knowing which loops and sites to request and hey, you even know Ms Sundee.
So many of you have been kind in answering my newbie questions. It sounds like you all have just a great time - we can't wait! Now that we're almost 90 days away, all I want to know is - how do the 'rest of us' get in that great circle you have? :grouphug:

Last year was actually the first time we went in a Feb. I don't remember the little boy but I have heard the stories of the Davy Crockett in your family. She really does love yall! Thanks for the welcome. The 3 of us (me, DH, DD-12) will be arriving from PA sometime on Dec 23rd and pulling out on Jan 2nd. (I am being a "bad mommy" by letting her miss her first day back on Jan 3rd because I know we'll need 2 days to drive. Since she's a good student, we've already been told this won't be a problem.)
We'll be the ones in the Class C who'll need help backing in because we've only done that twice. We're working on the tacky Christmas lights - depends on which ones we leave up at home. :rotfl:

We have reservations starting Dec 26 or 27, but camper is still in the shop. Hoping against all hope it takes them until Dec 26 to fix everything, so we can kill two birds with one stone. The reservations are until Jan 2, but our kids also start school back on Jan 3. It only takes 8 hours towing the camper, but that is still making it rough on the kids. Plutospup is from PA also. I would love to do Christmas at the Ft., but we have to wait until they get older. There is no way Santa's presents can fit in the camper. It will be much easier when I can just hand over cash and say Merry Christmas. Then again, I will probably be crying because I don't have any little ones any more.
Bigdisneydaddy, I forgot to tell you good luck on getting the 22nd.

I have no doubt we will get the 22nd through sheer determination.
I also need to clarify that I am not one of the "weeks at a time" people, 10 days maybe, but not weeks.
I got all misty hearing that I am perceived as part of the group... kinda makes me feel like I am part of something bigger than the sum of its parts :teeth:
I LOVE the "DISfunctional" part, My parents think I am nuts ! my kids actually think I am a genius, albeit an evil one :teeth:

Sundee says I gotta behave now so I am gonna do as I am told, just like I do when my DW tells me to do things, ever the obedient husband :lovestruc
We are trying to put together a rough itinerary for the December trip, we were thinking of doing a day at MGM and one at MK, would like to do MK on the 23rd (thats why we wanted to get the 22nd) Going to MK always puts me in the Christmas mood, then Campfire movie on Christmas eve (we did that in 03 and it was great) Hopefully Santa will be there like he was in 03 and I can get him the coal I need him to drop off :rotfl:
We were going to do MGM a few days after Christmas and then just hang out and have fun at FW for the rest of the time.
We spent New years eve 03 on Clementines beach watching the fireworks in 03 and I would like to do that again this year. We met some really nice folks from the Sarasota area that year and we hung out with them.
Hopefully the weather will cooperate this year, we stayed at Boardwalk last year and it poured over half the days and it was cold (by Florida standards, certainly not by MI standards) We were the crazy Yankees in the pool when it was 55 degrees out ! :earseek:
I think we are shooting for 1000, 1100, 1200 or 1300 loop since we have a std site and no pets.
hope to see Y'all there
mrsgus06
09-16-2005, 09:59 PM
I always ask for the 1700 loop and I don't have any pets (too many kids) but want to be by Gramps and Grandma who have 2 yappy dogs. However, if you do ask for the 1700 loop, try to get some of the lower numbers or highest number as the sites at the bend are very, very narrow. I know Campingcorgi also requests the 1700 loop. Something about great minds always thinking alike....blah blah blah 35 miles away....blah blah blah, seeing Ms. Sundee.

Musicmama...glad to see another Keystone stater around. It's nice to be able to escape to FW in December when Pennsylvania becomes cold and grey.

So I'm thinking we'll get to meet Ms Sundee on the 23rd, because we have CP ressies for the 24th. (We might skip the CP if Santa is around, since the narrator is now Jim Caviezel....) Otherwise, until I get some ADRs made I don't know where we'll be on which days. Guilty secret - I bought into the dining plan so I wouldn't have to cook this time out
Except for one - we are NOT doing MK on NYE this year. We did that last year and I promised DH never again -- too crowded, especially for the midnight countdown. :earseek:
I promise not to hijack this thread any longer, so guess I'll have to start my own. :earsgirl:

NO I'M NOT! :rotfl2: Ms. Sundee called me! She said Scott is not behaving like a good little boy so she likes me better! :rotfl2: She also said to remind you about the Davey Crockett hat. I think your wife needs to come on because Ms. Sundee said she was a lovely lady and she will play fair, unlike some of us (me, scott and now barbara is rubbing it in). She also said that once we all manage to get there at one time, there needs to be a cookout. I, of course, nominated Scott's camper because HE THINKS HE IS THE TEACHERS PET ! That means you have to provide the steaks for all! Anyone interested? Just put your order in before December 15 to Scott because he needs time to shop for everyone. That is about a week before he leaves for his 1100 MILE TRIP! :moped: :firefight

It may also have something to do with the fact that I am the best cook !
Its actually funny that you mentioned it. Every time we go camping with a group of friends we always end up eating huge evening meals at our trailer.
I have a funny story.... I work with one of the guys we camp with, his sons ride the bus to the fire station and then go home with him at 4PM (he is an inspector so he works regular people hours) My boss is talking to the boy one afternoon and saying " I bet you didnt have any fun camping with that mean Mr Carter" He responds by saying "we love camping with Mr Carter cause he always has good food and lots of fire"
So you see I am already famous for my good food and large campfires :rotfl:
A cookout sounds like a great idea, I have been known to indulge in a steak or 2 over the years
too bad we wont have a fire pit, I like to make baked taters in the campfire.
SOOOO give me some potential dates and we can set something up !
We have a great market we shop at when at work, they will custom cut meat for us, I can get a loin cut into NY strips ! :cool1:
On another note.... why hasnt FW added "The Country bears movie" to the line up ? I talked to Julie last year and put in my request, I am not beneath bribery !

showgirl, congratulations on your first post! What a shame to lurk so long before posting--too busy working or just having fun?
I'm glad you are watching the crazy folk on this thread with me, though, because I'm afraid the Carters (all of them!!) are getting out of hand. Now me, I'm a nice quiet type and would never try to be the teacher's pet--even though I might get to see Ms. Sundee every other week and I only live 35miles away!!
My favorite Ms. Sundee story--we had been to FW a couple of times with a very shy small child. We'd done the campfire and tried to get her to get up and sing but she was very shy. Then one afternoon Ms. Sundee comes riding around on a golf cart and shy child is outside playing at the campsite. Ms. Sundee stops to visit and chat and Lauren really took to her! That evening at the campfire shy child was more than willing to sing and dance--a miracle!!

Hey, Campingcorgi, if I do manage to squeeze a December trip out of hubby, you still have to come back for the cook out. Can't be that hard being 35 miles away. I had to check my ressie, I am scheduled to arrive Dec 26, which is a Monday, Leaving Jan 02, which is also a Monday. Stay with me on this, Ms. Sundee is off on Sundays and Mondays, so we have to plan it for Jan 1, a Sunday?
Musicmamma, good luck with the backing in! I look forward to meeting you and your family. The reservation is under Angela Carter (no relation to Bigdisneydaddy. He is Scott Carter) Feel free to call front desk and ask for my site number. Or, see Ms. Sundee, she will know where her favorite Carter's are. (once again, no relation to Scott Carter :rotfl: ) Oh yea, she will know where Scott is also. :teeth:
Bigdisneydaddy, I finally saw all of the pictures (I think I had to restart my computer the other day as it was frozen and would not move). I love the graphic, very neat! Ryan is as handsome as ever, (must look like Patti :rotfl2: ).
Plutospup, you need to come back for a Christmas visit. I think you were born a month too soon! :teeth:
Ms. Sundee, if you are lurking, and I know you are, and I don't get the chance to talk to you soon, please have a great trip to Disney Land and be careful! May your two weeks drag by slowly for you and quickly for the rest of us. We look forward to seeing you again in November. Oh yea, just for Scotts benefit, please call me when you get back! :rotfl2:

First off..... Jan 1st sounds good to me. We will need to get a head count with adults/kids.
My other concern will be the amount of grill space ? The sites have a grill but they arent all that big, I could bring my Weber and do the spuds and extar goodies (onions, garlic, mushrooms) on it and the steaks on the main grill, could probably do 8-10 at a time on that one.
SOOO depending on the size of the crowd we may have to think about doing it at a common/picnic area ?
does someone with direct access to a FW cast member want to check that out ? Then we would have a better idea of the logistics.
I can handle the steaks and goodies for them as well as some baked beans, does anyone else have something they are known for ?
Angie, Patti says to just let her know when dinner is ready. I think she plans to take the day off from cooking. BTW Ryan looks just like me :teeth:
Musicmama, with all the nice people at FW there wont be any shortage of folks willing to help, dont sweat the backing in thing, I think we are planning on MK that day so I may not be at FW. I have an appointment to capture the evil emperor Zurg :rotfl:
If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on this festival 'O' Disney just PM me.

I have a grill that I keep in the camper. Should be able to cook plenty on that. There is the common picnic area by the tennis courts, but don't know about the weather. It was cold last year! Ms. Sundee called this a.m. and said that Campingcorgi did indeed seek her out last night. So I say we talk about Campingcorgi while they are at Ft. Wilderness and we are not! :teeth:

I am so stricken with envy that I cant think of anything to say :rolleyes1
I should go check the movie schedule, if its one of my favorites this weekend it will make it worse.
You said it was "cold" last year, for us "yanks" it was quite comfortable. I keep forgetting about how thin the blood gets below the Ohio river :rotfl:
I am still waiting for a head count so I can start work on the logistics.
who do we have so far ????

disneydaddy (5) I revised it to 5 since our extra kid should be with us

Since you are going in 2 months, you could scout locations for us.
I would still like to have it at my site but it wouldnt hurt to have alternatives.
Would it be appropriate to save a "doggie bag" for Plutospup ?

I still think we should link our reservations together. During the summer I stayed in 1702, friends were in 1703 and my parents were in 1741. They were all right there together. Campingcorgi has their puppy, so it has to be a pet loop. I prefer the 1700 loop, but can camp in any loop. We just drifted from campsite to campsite and a lot of other people stopped to join in. Campingcorgi will be in a for a day visit for the cook out, so if you tell Ms. Sundee to call me with your site number after you check in Scott, I will try to get the same loop. I'm sure Taylor (who will be 9) would love to have some type of male friend instead of being surrounded by all girls! As for family size, I don't think the 19 yo is going with us, so put me down for 7 (2 adults). I can also contribute $ or other food. Walmart fears me because, like Patti, I'm not cooking! :teeth:

I would like to get the site we had during Easter, As I recall it wasnt very far from yours.
I havent had a lot of luck in the pet loops at FW.
When you say 2 adults, you mean Skeeter and who else ? :rolleyes1
We have a non preffered site so we should end up in the area we were in last trip.

Hi to all! I just left FW yesterday. I met Ms. Sundee on Tuesday at the pool. I saw her name tag and said, "Hey, I've heard about you". Her response: "Let me guess, you're one of those DISboard people". :rotfl:
She told me that there was a lively debate going on here about who she likes best. Unfortunately, as the rest of my family are "commandos", we never did make it to the campfire. :guilty:
This was our first camping trip at WDW, and I can see why so many of you appreciate it so much. I can't wait to go back!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: O.k., I'll give you that one, it was funny. 1700 loop is not a preferred loop, but I really don't care where I am. I have my dish forever packed in the camper, so I can pick up any channel.
Fanofmickey, I'm glad you got to meet Ms. Sundee. Campingcorgi was also there, hope you had the pleasure of running into them. I hope Ms. Sundee set the record straight and told you which Carter was her favorite! (hint: not the Fenton MI Carters) :rotfl:

Besides Off Kilter at Epcot, I dont think any CM has a more rabid following.
Glad to hear you liked the campground. next time make the commandos stop for an evening of good ole fashioned family fun at the campfire. :goodvibes

Hey, Campingcorgi. Where are youuuuuuu? I know you were there because Ms. Sundee told me. We are waiting to hear from you!
Fanofmickey, if you go camping again over New Years weekend, Scott is buying the steaks. You can eat, have a good time and hear everyone complain because they have to leave the next morning. I will try not to complain too much because I will be returning Jan 11! I absolutely love my husband for putting up with me! :teeth:

... but I will have my almost-large George Foreman grill along. We also have one of those Thermos Grill-to-Go's that we "inherited" when we bought the camper, but my brother-in-law says it has issues and he will fix it on our family Thanksgiving campout. So, I'm not guaranteeing that one.
I will be happy to contribute in other ways as well... :earsgirl:

I am probably going to bring my weber, I am a purist when it comes to grilling. I only use charcoal.
Between the weber and the campsite grill I should have enough room for the meat and I can do the beans in the dutch oven so we will just need spuds, vegetable and salad.
and of course the beverage of your choice.

Sorry, my grill is gas. However, I bet the open flame side will cook a mean pot of green beans. It is either that or a trip to the Walmart for potato salad or something pre-made. I use ham hocks in my green beans, no salt (I have a bad problem with salt) but do use pepper. That way they are reaaaallllllllllyyyy greasy, southern style, so to say. Oh yea, I can also cook up a pot of grits for you all non southerners :earseek: .

Green beans with ham! I love green beans with ham!! Steak, taters, green beans, etc. ...you folks are going to have a feast! Heaven knows, I don't pass on too many meals...even if they are 958 miles away (less than 1100!).
...as for the "Doggie Bag for Pluto's Pup", I'm not too proud. You can even mail it to us! :teeth:

I was hoping you would catch the intentional joke about "doggie bag" being Plutospup :rotfl2: I crack myself up.
A pot of "southern style" green beans is right up my alley, My Paternal Grandmother used to make them that way (they were from Southern Missouri)
Plus I like grits as well. I like southern style cooking.
I still need some numbers from the others !!!

Mmm! Green beans the 'right' way!! Tried some here at a restaurant-- :crazy2: crunchy!! Couldn't get anyone to eat them!!
We'll have 3 for sure--2 adults and 1 kiddo. Who knows who else! I'll bring chips and dips and baked beans (Publix makes the best!!) and do y'all want me to bring burgers and hot dogs and buns for the kids?
We had a great time this weekend and I had a long visit with Ms. Sundee! She was in great form at Friday night's campfire, too!! Great show!! I was surprised at the crowds at the campfire Friday night and Saturday night, too. I guess a lot of us locals get to go for the weekends :rotfl:
The playground at the marina is finished and it was a hit with Lauren! On Saturday night I bet it had 50 kids there and they weren't crowded. It has a rubber mulch-mat flooring and lots to do. We spent 2 hours there and L was asleep right after the singalong!!
If anyone was around this weekend we were in 1700 loop and we had the animated illuminated gator decoration. We're working on getting the Halloween decorations ready for our next trip--in 2 weeks and 3 days!!!
I just love coming home from work and joining in all this fun!

[QUOTE=campingcorgi]I guess a lot of us locals get to go for the weekends :rotfl:
Now that comment was rude, crude and socially unacceptable! :earboy2:
I love the fact that they have the new playground. My girls love to play there while waiting for the boat parade. Now they have something new to look forward to. Although they are all now in gymnastics and will probably fill their time flipping up and down the beach. Except Logan, that girl is not going to flip! She still tells me that her coach is trying to kill her, but she is three and blows everything out of proportion. How is the new playground at the 1300 loop? They were putting that one together as I was leaving. The fence was around it so we could not see anything they were doing. I don't have a reservation in two weeks, but I do have one in 2 months. Wait, Lazy Days called and I may still get my quick 3 night visit in October, no kids to get the camper. :cheer2: The good thing is I get 3 nights with hubby, no kids, but the bad thing is I may not get to visit with Ms. Sundee. Said Californie was the place she needs to be. Maybe I will get there in 2 weeks! I will let you know. I know we can't go the weekend of the 23rd because that is Logans bday and I would not miss that for the world. Four down, fourteen more to go and they will be out of here. :rotfl2:
As for the hamburgers and hotdogs, my kids will not eat hotdogs, but don't plan the menu around them. They hate everything. If they don't like what we are eating, they can make a sandwich at the camper. They lived off of them for 8 weeks during the summer and one more day will not hurt them.
