No not the confrontation between the President, the Governor, the Mayor, Senators, and Congressmen about Katrina …I would have loved to hear Mayor Nagin asking the President if he could use the shower.
From wvrevy’s “an article you need to read!” thread…
“The denial and the frustration finally collided aboard Air Force One on Friday. As the president's plane sat on the tarmac at New Orleans airport, a confrontation occurred that was described by one participant as "as blunt as you can get without the Secret Service getting involved." Governor Blanco was there, along with various congressmen and senators and Mayor Nagin (who took advantage of the opportunity to take a shower aboard the plane).”

I picture President Bush and his cronies arguing with the governor and congressmen while Nagin slips away quietly to use the shower. :)

I'm guessing the poor mayor was stinky after so many days with no way to shower. Maybe the president asked him to "freshen up". Either way I imagine the shower in Air Force One is pretty cool and I'm sure Mr. Nagin enjoyed the chance to relax for a minute.

Mayor Nagin was on Larry King last night (9/14/05) taking callers questions. I tried to call in many times but the line was busy. I was going to ask him how he went about asking the President if he could use the shower on Air Force One.

Maybe I'm the only one thinking this... perhaps when the mayor, governor and others boarded, they were INVITED to take showers. I know that I, as a private citizen, would invite someone who had been in a disaster area - to shower, clean-up, change clothes, get some food/drink, etc.
I personally think that Bush or someone else on board AF1 would extend hospitality. It doesn't have to be assumed that someone would just sneak off and shower.
My father-in-law used to be a steward on AF2 when Reagan was in office. I would believe that hospitality would be extended.
