Hey everyone,
:cheer2: Welcome to the Red Team's "official thread". :cheer2:
I'm guessing how this will work is that after we all weighed in last night we will post what we "lost" next Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
After watching the show last night, I am so motivated. Its amazing to look at the contestants and know that their lives are going to be altered so much by the show. Did you see the pictures from last year's top 3. They looked so good!! They did fantastic at keeping it off. That is something I really want to work on this time. I was doing well till the beginning of July and had 3 trips since then. I've managed to gain 15lbs since then. I just don't understand how it happens so fast. That's basically what I lost from the marathon till the end of July. Why does it take 2 months to gain what it took me 6 months to lose. So my goal is to try to learn why I let vacations mean I can blow it all and why I feel its all or nothing. I've battled getting back to my goal weight since July 2004 when I reached my WW goal. I'm hoping this contest gives me the inspiration to not only get back to my WW goal, but to get to my Personal goal so I can have a few pounds to play with when I do go on vacations.
I also am going to use this to get back to my love of exercising. I did so well before doing two half marathons in 4 months. The injury to my foot caused me to stop exercising and I'm having a hard time getting back into it. I love exercising. I love the way it makes me feel. I love feeling strong and healthy. It causes me to eat healthier which then causes me to want to work out more. Exercise and eating right is a nice balance. I'm feeling the pressure to get going again on my exercise if I want to be able to race again in January.
So please, lets get to know each other. Tell us about yourself. What are your goals, your inspirations, etc. We can do this together. :cheer2:
WISH is the best thing that ever happened to me. I thank Kelsey so much for that  . I really don't think I could just do it with Weight Watchers alone. It really has been WISH that changed my life. Heck, I never would have did a half Marathon or contemplated planning for a full Marathon without WISH. :cheer2:
There are still so many people joining. I'll post the list here and I'll edit it as Kelsie assigns people to the team.

Hi Team!!
Mel, thanks for being captain--you're awesome!
I loved the show last year and I think this year will be even better! Two years ago I lost 70 lbs. I have since gained 10 back. I want to lose those 10 plus 20 more (so 30 total!). Losing that weight changed my life! I feel a million times better about myself and I look a million times better too!
I lost the weight following WW as well as running (ran the WDW half in January). I am training for the full marathon but am also recovering from a calf injury so my running is kind of side-lined right now. I'm still doing tons of exercise though in the form of yoga, elliptical, bike and weights. Exercise is definately not a problem for me. I do an hour at least per day 6 x a week. Food is my issue! I really love sweets--doughnuts, ice cream, etc.
The show definately motivated me. I'm going to increase the intensity of my workouts and throw some new things in there. And decrease my food intake, of course.
Can't wait to "meet" everyone!

Hello Red team.
Melanie, I too would like to thank you for being our captain.
OK here is my story. I lost 30 pounds three years ago after the birth of my second child. I have been able to maintain the loss and even lose another five pounds. I just can not get motivated again. I accomplished the loss with WW and exercise.
I want to lose 30 more pounds. Last nights show was really great. I hope this will help with my determination, and I just returned home from the gym.
Good luck to all. :thewave:

Hi Melanie & all!!
Glad to be aboard the Red Team! I am excited for this challenge. I am not sure if I will get to actually see the show this year at all as it is opposite one of my new "must watch" shows on Tuesdays, and my staff meeting is Tuesdays at 8pm too! So we will see! hehe
As for who I am, I am of course a Disney fan who discovered the DIS after my first solo trip last February. And of course I avoided the WISH board like the plague if I could! I was not ready at that point to commit to helping myself, though I definitely needed it! In the spring I reached my highest weight ever of 500+ lbs. After my second Disney trip this year (in June) where I realized that rides were even tighter than they were in February, I made the decision to make myself healthier. So on June 20th, I started my new WOL and joined the WISH! hehe :) Since then I have lost about 68 lbs and feel GREAT!! I am not trying to get skinny, I am just trying to feel comfortable in my own skin again and not feel like each movement is a colossal undertaking. I have been following the Carb Addicts Lifespan Plan (aka CALP/CAD) for my eating plan and love it, it really controls my hunger/cravings and I still get to have what I want but now I naturally portion control because a 1/2 cup of ben n Jerrys satisfies me versus a whole pint! hehe The area I need the biggest kick in the pants is exercising. Walking & movement were not easy for me at my heaviest and things are not perfect now but are 100 times better! I want to get into a water aerobics class at the college I work at and see if I like that. I love swimming! hehe I also like to go on small walks with my latest toy, my iPod. Currently I want to definitely get my walking/cardio really going as I am planning to do my whole December Disney trip scooter free!
As for me as a person, I work at a college in the Residence Halls, living and laughing with the students, so I love my job but as you can imagine it can be demanding of my time and stressful! hehe!! I have a wacky & wild cat named Logan, who enjoys eating plastic (Kept me up all night last night sick! Boo!) and olive oil. I am an avid comic book fan and enjoy a good evening drama (aka LOST, Desparate Housewives, Alias).
Look forward to supporting everyone and seeing our team win!!! :cheer2:
Have a happy & healthy day!

Hi Red Team,
I'm planning on running tonight. Anyone want to join me. I challenge everyone to get some exercise in today or tomorrow. Unless of course its a rest day for you.
I may even set my alarm clock and get up tomorrow morning. That's a goal I want to work on. Anyone interested in forming a pack to do it and posting after we do as a motivator??
For those of you who are new to exercise. Try to think of fun ways to get moving more.
Great for beginners and those looking to increase movement:
Leslie Sansone video's - Walk away the pounds.
Walking outdoors or on treadmill
Swimming
parking the car further and walking
walking up stairs instead of taking elevators
Get a pedometer and shoot for 10,000 steps a day.
Stability Ball - Core secrets is great for beginners -you can do a LOT with a stability ball.
I also think lifting weights is great for weight loss. There are some great video's out there, possibly even check out FIT TV.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Hi Team :)
My name is Kelsie and I have gained and lost 10,000 pounds during my life ;)
I retired from Qwest 2 years ago and now work from home. Needless to say, since working at home I have gained everything back I lost a few years ago when WISH first started. I have a lot to lose and am FINALLY very motivated again.
I weighed last night and after I came to :faint: I was more determined than ever.
There is a bit of a delay getting the clipart but, I hope to have it soon!
Now, for those who remember me, I HATE EXERCISE and really need motivation. :(

Oppps! guess I forgot the "My Story" part!
Like Kelsey I have gained and lost 10,000 pounds in my life! As of late I was dangerously close to 300.....actually just 2 pounds shy. Got down to the 250's and am getting pretty darn close to my favorite hang out weight in the near 270 zone.
Of course when I finally made it to the 250's I swore I would NEVER see 260 again....well......guess what?
Anyway, I used to hate exercise too. I was inspired by a few WISHers to walk a half marathon! What the heck was I thinking? :confused3 August 7th, I made my first attempt and got pretty darn close to the 13.1 mile finish. I made it 9 miles. Quite an accomplishment for me. Next year I will get that 13.1 in! I just know it!
When I do exercise I feel so MUCH better! I am somewhat limited in what I do as I have had 9 surgeries on my left ankle. Can't do a few things I would like to try.....but I have found that I DO enjoy walking and it is something I can do. So with that, I am off to get my work done, so I can get out of here, head home, grab a bite and go for a nice little walk this evening!
Thanks to all for the inspiration! I am off to be a LOSER now!!!

Ok, my turn. I'm Monica, I live in the beautiful Colorado Rockies, where I've managed to gain 50 pounds in 5 years! I blame my weight gain on my husband since he is a wonderful cook and I'm not. ha,ha.
I am participating in the Disney 1/2 marathon in Jan. and hope to loose, at least, 25 pds. by then. I just bought a new pair of walking shoes and am excitied about the "biggest loser" support group.

Hi everyone,
I'm glad everyone is checking in. Its so nice to meet everyone, although I know a few of you already.
Kelly- Congrats on loosing the 70lbs. Did you go to the dinner at Fort Wilderness last year?? I'm just wondering if I met you last year?
Kim & Catherine- Thanks for wishing us luck!! :grouphug:
Nursetink- You've done great at maintaining. I hope this challenge helps you reach your goals!! Great job on getting your walk/run in today!! Woohoo!! :cheer2:
Mike- I'm so glad your joining us. Congrats on your 68lbs!! Way to go! :cheer2: So are you just too excited about Lost next week???? I can't wait.
Liz- I think Sunny would be a fabulous fitness guru. Lets work on getting her on board. You did great on your Chicago marathon. I'm so proud of you!! Way to go!! :cheer2: Check in with us and let us know how your run tonight went.
Monica- My husband is a better cook than me too, but I can hold my own now. I blame it on the fact that my mom only had 2 of us and worked so we ate out a lot. DH was one of 8 kids and his dad was not around. They had to cook every meal because money was tight. I wonder if I wouldn't have gained if I stayed single, lol!
Well I got my walk/run in. I did 2 miles. Boy I'm not in shape like I was in April. I was able to run a 12 min miles every quarter mile so I did pretty good!! It felt really good.
Who's next??

Hi all! Welcome aboard! It is very inspiring to read everyone's stories!
I have had a very long day that is finally over! I did squeeze in a quick walk, just about 15-20min but I wanted to make sure I did something today!
I also ordered one of Jorge Cruise's books, "8 Minutes in the Morning for Real Shapes, Real Sizes: Specifically Designed for People Who Want to Lose 30 Pounds or More." It was recommended to me by a friend and seems like a good one for me. Presents a very basic level to start building knowledge. And heck, we all know I have a lot more than 30lbs to lose! hehe Also, one of the buyer reviews on Amazon said "The perfect book for people in really bad shape" and that is me! :) I will let everyone know how it is when I get it and read it this weekend! If anyone else has an experience with it I would appreciate the advice too. Thanks!
Melanie, I am totally psyched for the new season of Lost to get started!! I cannot wait!!!
Have a happy & healthy night all! I am gonna finish my water and then head to bed!

Salutations, teammates.
It is I, the token night owl of the family.
I'm just finishing up here at the newspaper, and I thought I'd quickly decloak and say hey before I head home and attempt to sleep. Now, "finishing up here at the newspaper" is a key phrase in my backstory. I have been a pro sportschick since 1989. This means lots of late-night drinking and eating. Gotta keep up with the manly men of the sports department, dontcha know.
I've gained and lost the same 30-35 pounds a number of times in the last 10 years. But for whatever reason, I really, really want to beat them off for good this time. I turn 35 on Halloween. I've got a bad back. I've got diabetes and heart disease coming at me from both sides of my family tree. So it's hit me that I am a herniated disc or diabetic coma or heart attack/stroke waiting to happen. And now that I'm finally happily wed (to SkipperBubba pirate:  ), I guess I want to make sure I'm going to be hanging around for awhile.
I found this wonderful board at the end of August. (Somehow I never scrolled down from the regular forums!) And I decided to latch on to a few challenges to try and get myself started. I've walked 60 minutes a day, averaging 3.2-3.5 miles an hour, for 12 of the 14 days so far this month. Missed one for work and the other for a funeral on the other side of the state. I'm planning on making that 120 minutes up, though. I just hope I can keep motivated. It always seems as though whenever I've dieted/exercised in the past, I stick with it for a while, get down to around 205-210 and shut down. And bounce back up on the scale. But I feel so much better when I excerise. I don't want to recommit to a gym just yet, though. Not enough disposable buckos at the moment. Maybe after New Year's, if I've proven to myself I'm serious.
Eating has been, as it always is for me, a challenge. I've had my good days and bad days. So far the scale is down two pounds and the measurements are shrinking a bit. I'd like to make my mini-goal at least two pounds a week. If I can keep to that, I'll be at my first bigger goal, which is losing 10 percent of my body weight, the week before we next leave for WDW! (Side note to Mike: We'll be down when you're there! I saw the meet you're organizing, but unfortunately we'll be on Backstage Safari at AK while you're at the Earl. Bummer.)
I suppose in my wildest dreams I'd like to be in the 150-160 range. But it's been a "wildest dream" thing forever -- I can't say I've ever been anything but overweight -- so I don't know if I can say it'll happen. But I'd certainly like it to.
Gee, this is turning into an opus. What can I say? Nobody gave me an inch count.
Catch y'all later...

Hi Red Team!! Just wantd to stop in an introduce myself since I am now officially a member.
Well here is my story. Dh and I live in Norther VA (I don't reccommend it :rotfl: ) I work for a large real estate brokerage (not an agent :cool1: ). Since 2001 when DH and I met, I have slowly gained around 30 lbs. Right now I am at my heaviest and the only good thing, is I am still realtively thin. The problem is I really want to drop some of this weight and get into shape. For my age and weight I shouldn't be tired all the time. DH and I signed up for the half marathon this January, but I decided that because of a busy new business at home and the fact that I have no endurance, that I would switch to the 5K. I think that is a more realistic goal for me but it still allows me to "train" with hubby!!
So onto better eating habits and more working out!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
I did pilates this morning, but I did the wrong one. Only 15 min instead of 30 so I figure I will go for a walk tonight. Yesterday was good food wise too.
Breakfast- Blueberry muffin
Lunch- Salad w/fat free dressing and a banana
Dinner-Grilled bbq chicken breast, carrots and garlic noodles
I had some teddy grahams for "dessert" relatively low in fat.
Ok red team...Your turn! How is it going today? :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm happy to meet everyone. I am a SAHM. I have been happily married to my high school boyfriend for 13 years. I'll be 35 next month, but most of the time I feel a lot younger. I have one son who is almost 7, he's in 1st grade.
I've worked out most of my life, I really enjoy it. I've also enjoyed eating a little too much. It seems like my metabolism really slowed down after 30. I am working on losing 30 pounds. I'm just trying to eat less and choose to eat healthier foods. I want to be a good role model for my son. We don't buy much junk food anyway because I don't want him to think he has to have that all the time.
Right now I am doing the Firm DVD's. I just started those 3 x a week and I ride an exercise bike 3 x a week. I've only been doing that since the 1st of Sept but I feel so much better already.

forgot to add that today was a bike day for me and I rode for 47 min

Hi there!!
Glad to be part of the team. My name is Michelle, I am 37 years old. I have been overweight since I was about 8. In 2001 I lost appx. 50lbs which I swore I would never gain back. I did gain it back :guilty: In 2003 I joined a gym in order to lose weight for my WDW trip, I ended up losing and gaining the same 5lbs for most of the year. Last year I gained 15lbs between Sept and December. In January I decided I had to get back on track. I did Sommersize for about a month and then switched to South Beach. I lost about 26lbs, but stalled in June and have been stuck at the same weight since. I joined WW last saturday and I am going to be doing the Core plan. One of my main problems is consistency. I start diet/exercise programs, but have a really hard time staying with it. I am hoping the added motivation of this challenge will keep me going.
I usually go walking on my 2 breaks and take an evening walk (though I tend to go long periods where I get lazy). I need to challenge myself on the exercise. I usually make excuses on why I can't get up and get going. I need to add more intense workouts and get back to the weight training.
For anyone who wants to do a beginners light weight workout, Richard Simmons (can't help myself I like him :earboy2: ) has a pretty good DVD.

Funny you should mention that. Part of the reason I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 mos is the opening of a Carvel's near my house. They have some great ice cream (chocolate of course).

How is everyone doing with eating? Any challenges?
Please let me know what topics you all want to discuss and how we can all help each other succeed. If we can work together we can all be the biggest losers!!! :cheer2:
So far this week I've been on track since Monday and it feels good to be in CONTROL again. Its been raining here today and did stop around lunch time. Even though I didn't bring sneakers because I thought it was going to rain all day, I was able to get outside and walk about a mile. When I came indoors I walked up and down 3 flights of stairs twice. That really got my heart rate up. Its very humid right now after the rain so unfortunately I feel sort of yucky. But I'm very happy I didn't stay indoors and do nothing.
Tonight I have to take DS7 to football practice. If its not too muddy from all the rain I'll run tonight at the field.
I guess maybe more personal intro's would be good too so we get to know each other better (like AuntieM03).
I'm 36 and have been married for 18 years (yep-right out of high school). We have 2 kids -DD13 Taryn in 8th grade and DS7 Ryan in 1st grade. I joined WW several years back. The first time was after DD was born, and I lost a few pounds but didn't stick with it. Then years later I joined again in 2002. I did well and then DH when to Kuwait in 2003 for 3 months. I gained all but 10 lbs I lost back. So when he came back from the war I started again in June and made it to goal by July the following year (2004). Then I sort of gave myself permission to slide a little and went on some summer trips and gained a little. Not tons, but enough that I didn't go back to Weight Watchers out of shame. Then last November we went to Disney for two weeks and by Christmas I was disgusted with myself. All my clothes were getting tight again. I did the 1/2 marathon in January at WDW and came home and got strict again. I got down to within 6 pounds of my Weight Watcher goal by the end of June this year. Then a long weekend in Vegas, 2 weeks in Disney and a long weekend in Alabama really got to me and now I'm back to where I was in Janaury.
The great news is I am 4 days OP now and in Control. I've been adding in exercise since yesterday. I know without this challenge I'd still be struggling without any exercise. Thanks everyone.
Hi Michelle,
How are you likeing WW's? I love it. I do flex, but I try to eat mostly core foods. I challenge you to start lifting weights again. That's the best thing you can do to keep your body from loosing muscle instead of fat!
Hi Marty,
Way to go on the 47 min bike ride!! Glad your doing the FIRM. The FIRM is my favorite and I have every DVD that is out there. I sure wish they would put out some more of the old ones on DVD. Its the only video out there that I truly enjoy doing!
Hi Agotta,
I sure wish you were doing the 1/2 marathon with us. I think you would have done great. Last year was my first one and it was such an experience. It literally changed my life!! Since then I've done another one in April and am going to do the 2006 1/2 marathon as well.
Kelsie - Thanks for updating the list and giving us new members. I hope everything is going well for you? How are you doing since the challenge started??
Hi Molli- Glad you'll be following us!! You should join?????
Laura- I'm glad you found WISH. I know it took me a while too, luckily I only missed a few months after Kelsie formed WISH.
Mike- Glad you got your walk in yesterday. Thats the way to get moving. Just push yourself do a little something each day and before you know it your doing more and more.
Go RED TEAM!!

Hi Melanie,
Thanks for being captain :goodvibes
So far I am liking the Core program. I am trying to get more acqainted with what is considered core food. I like that you can have potatoes and corn. That was way off limits on South Beach, but I am having to get used to the dairy products having to be fat free. I am fine with the milk, but I don't even know if you can get ff string cheese.
Thanks for the challenge re:the weight training. I need someone to challenge me to get me off my behind :teeth:

Hi there. I guess I'll jump in and introduce myself. I know my post count is really, really low, but that is just because I am shy! Trust me, I spend too many hours on the DISboards.
I am 34 years old and live in Illinois. In 2000, I was getting dangerously close to 300 and started a strict low calorie diet. At the time I lost thirty-five pounds. I swore I would not gain it back, but over the next couple of years, I had a bad relationship and changed jobs. I gained back all the weight and then some. Just before Christmas 2004, I started Weight Watchers. By the end of May I lost forty pounds (including a week long Disney trip!). I really stalled over the summer. It cracks me up when people say it is "too hot to eat!" I can't imagine it ever being that hot. Ha ha. In August I started the "five for" challenges and the "Walking Away the Pounds" DVDs. Since that time I have lost about 11 pounds. I have about 80 pounds to go. I'm very excited about this challenge. WISH has been great so far because I don't want to have to report any sort of gain.
Oh, by the way, I got my thirty minute walk in this morning!
Thanks everyone.

I would like to welcome our newest members to the red team.
I will also add to my story. I am 33 year old SAHM. I have 2 DDs 3 & 5 and have been married for 8 years. I really started to gain weight when I was working the night shift as an RN. It was so easy to munch off and on all night and then sleep all day with no exercise. Then I had a baby making the rest history.
I am 5'9 and my goal is about 160 pounds. Hopefully this will be a great motivator.

Hey, gang, I'm a new member who's glad to be here. As you can see from my clippies, I'm here ready to work. Like jayna22, my post count is low but theDIS boards and WDW trips are my hobby. I'm young and lose weight easily, but I just haven't had my head "in it" since high school. I've been overweight my whole life and am ready to make a change in my young adult years.
Exercising is a lot of fun for me since I bought a heart rate monitor. It is so cool to watch your heart beat and have an objective measure of your exertion of effort! It is even cooler to watch the average HR for a given exercise to decrease over a few exercise sessions, meaning you are becoming more fit! I'm walking 45-60 minutes 3-4 times per week now, for about a month. Whoo!
Otherwise, I don't eat that much because I'm so busy during the day, but night is a problem for me. So, my rules are: (1) no sugar drinks (Diet sodas are ok, they're like air to me, as long as I have my 1L of water per day also) (2) no eats after 8pm (3) no chips (yumm. . .one of my weaknesses) and (4) 1 sweet/day (down from 3-4!)
That's my plan, I'm a month into the exercise and 3 days eating OP. My pitiful little plan, but, hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
Been great reading all the fellow red teamers' bios!
ETA: Don't be scared of my 5 for Sept. challenge numbers. . .I don't weigh often, because it discourages me. However, I'll weigh for this challenge, don't worry.

I am excited to be a part of the challenge. I re-joined WW and just had my 2nd WI Monday night and have lost 5.6 pounds. I was following WW back in 2001/2002 and lost right at 60 pounds. Over the years since I have managed to put it all back on. I participated in the 1/2 marathon this past year not in good shape, had not been exercising but was determined to do it. I finished but not in the best of times. I have made my mind up that this is the time to get my weight back in line and I am finally back to enjoying my exercising. I have made it up to 30 min. on the TM and I'll be following the Marathoning for Mortals training plan starting in October. I have a few challenges coming up between now and the 1/2 but am determined to not let them set me back. The main one is being in Disney for 15 days the first of December. I will be using the gym at VWL for sure (I've already let DH know to expect it).
Looking forward to continuing to get to know everyone.

Good Morning and Happy Friday! :)
Well, I'm on day 3 WITHOUT SUGAR! I woke up with a splitting headache but that's normal for me during the withdrawal. Hopefully it will end soon!
I haven't started exercising yet :( I'm hosting an 11th Birthday Party for my DD this weekend and things have been nuts. I guess if house cleaning counts, I am getting a lot of exercise. ;)
Have a great day and be good this weekend!!

Good morning!!
I did pretty well yesterday. I did my two walks during work, and I did about 25 min of aerobics. I tried to do my light weight DVD but I have a really stupid DVD player. It would not read the DVD even though it has been. I got it for Christmas and it is one of the recordable DVD, kind of expensive, players. I had way less trouble with my cheap player. Okay now I have that off my chest :teeth: I did try and remember some of the exercises and do a little of the light weights.
I also did pretty well with the food. We went out to eat, but I tried to make the healthiest choices I could. I ended up a little past comfortable, but I think that mostly came from the last glass of ice tea.
I hope everyone has a great/healthy day!! :cheer2:

I'm so new my name isn't even on the list!!
Well, I have a feeling I'm the matriarch of red team at a whopping 45!
Many of you know me from my WISH Journal. Married 23+ years, 3 kids - DS19 who is the source of my grey hair and stress eating, DS16 - who is definitely the middle child, DD13 - the true TomBoy.
I live just outside of Albuquerque, NM. Weather here is great 98% of the time. Balloon fiesta starts in 2 weeks. Last year there were over 700 visible from my house at once.
I have 2 Yorkies who are my babies, plus a 105 lb chocolate lab, a hypoallergenic Devon Rex cat and 2 lizards.
Free time is almost non existent. I am obviously a SAHM. DS16 is a nationally ranked gymnast and DD is a competitive Fencer, so I travel almost every weekend from Jan - May (which doesn't help the weight).
I have a horrid family history - each of my 5 siblings became diabetic by age 48. Hyperlipidemia runs in the family - my DSis, now 56, had no pulse below the waist at age 40 and a total Cholesterol of over 800. At 54 the fake arteries clogged in the same place and her chol remains over 500 on meds. My mother was the same way. Other DSis just finished Chemo and is starting Radiation for Breast Cancer. My Bro who used to run many marathons was the first to become diabetic @ age 43 and he is/was the only truely athletic one. All have high BP, 3 have macular degeneration.
So, I'm trying to beat the stress monster and beat the health ills.
I struggle every day. I grew up w/ a mother who I could never please, who told me at age 8 that I should have never been born and that if she had not been Catholic, she would have aborted me. She filled out all of the paperwork to have me adopted, but my Father & siblings wouldn't let her go through with it. My DSis in FL (the one w/ cancer) is 9 years older than I and has always been like my mother. At my father's funeral I was almost at my heaviest(and my sibs are NOT small!!!!) , and we had a family pic taken w/ me on the end, well, the rounded lens distortion made me look even bigger and my mother, in front of family and dozens of others chastised me for 'ruining the family pic' as I was so 'fat and ugly' and they needed another with me not in it. Needless to say, my weight went UP after that episode.
So, I carry a lot of baggage that doesn't help the weight.
I follow WW, but am taking a break as I am tired of paying for meetings I don't have time to go to. I am hung here at 169. Exercise seems to be the only thing that will move the scale, and with my life, I have been having to choose between sleep and exercise and sleep has been winning.
I am going to do better and this will work!
Thanks for being there! Sometimes I don't have much time to post. I'll start at 169 for this as that is what I was on Thurs.

Morning Red Team!! And thank you tag Fairy!!! :) Not doing so hot today. Pressure change has given me an awful migraine. I probably won't stay the whole day at work. This means I did not get up this morning and work out. Dh and I did go for a 1 mile walk last night though. That is huge for me because normally when a headache hits, I crash. Oh and I am so bad, but I weigh in everyday and I am doing great this week!! I know that it is a lot of water weight, but still!!
AuntieM03- Keep up the great work!! Good job with still eating healthy when you went out to eat.
WebmasterKelsie-WHOOHOO to no sugar!! :cheer2: :cheer2: It is hard but good for you! I won't tell you what I had to peices of last night. But at least it wasn't a whole bar...

Good morning Red Team!
I'm finally shaking off the cold I've had all week and even managed to get out for a walk today. Eating hasn't been so great this week, so I'll most likely break even. Hopefully a renewed commitment over the next week, as well as ushering TOM out of town will get things going again.

Hey, I hope everyone is having a great day today. I am having a bad one. I had a doctor appt to check out the possibility of having another lap done due to secondary infertility. He doesn't think it's a good idea, that it wouldn't help me any. I had that feeling already but it's much harder to have a physician tell you that.
So no exercise for me today.
My son (who I will give an even bigger hug to today) and I are going to get pizza and rent a movie when he gets in from school. I promise I won't eat too much. I've worked too hard for the past two weeks.
I'll do the Firm tomorrow.
Have a great weekend.

I am psyched to try some new exercise ideas. I am also excited because I just added a day to my December Disney trip... which could be bad for our team as I made my adjusted ADRs too! hehe just kidding!!!

Thanks Mike, I'm feeling better now. My son singing along in the backseat with Radio Disney tends to make me smile. And he still holds my hand in public sometimes. I know that day isn't too far off when he's not gonna do it anymore.
I had to tell you all I am proud of myself. I had two pieces of pizza and a coke. I am an emotional eater so normally I would eat all the pizza I wanted and hopefully some chocolate too, and whatever else I coud justify. But I held it off.
I hope everyone has a beautiful day tomorrow.

Hi all,
Sorry I wasn't around today. Work was super busy so I was able to check in but I didn't have the time to type up a post. Having this challenge really helped me today. I went out for Sushi and I was a good girl. Everything was within my points. Then in the kitchen this afternoon someone put out these candies that a joint venture company gave them from Paris. Ok, you know I was thinking about eating one. There was an entire huge box with little bags inside. Each little bag was filled with probably 100 pieces each! I was good though. I thought of each of you standing in the kitchen telling me NO NO NO!! So I put a smile on my face and walked back out. I wasn't hungry anyway after eating one of my favorite lunches!
DH has guards this weekend so I should be able to find some extra time to work out. Hopefully, DS has a football game tomorrow. Then I have to figure out how to make hungarian goulash. I printed several low calorie versions. My new container of imported Hungarian sweet paprika is just begging me to make some. Keep your fingers crossed. Our try at lowfat clam chowder last weekend was just so-so. I want a winner this time. Sunday should be easy since I have all afternoon after church.
By the way I just had to share since I'm dying to tell someone and my entire family is at the football game (I wasn't feeling well so I stayed home. After a few Advil, I now wished I went). DS is now in second grade with a fresh out of college teacher. He brings home is homework folder on Wednesday and it says "picture from Katrina" on the first line and "donation" on the second. They are having several fundraisers including bringing in items, money donations and wearing vacation shirts, sports shirts (two different fridays)- must donate $1. So I ask him what picture from Katrina meant. Is he to get a picture from the internet or newspaper about Katrina, or send in a picture to send with the donations. He has no idea what it meant. He said it was just on the board. He said his teacher didn't talk to them about it, just said to write on homework folder. I asked 2 other parents with kids in his class at football practice last night and they didn't even have that info on the homework folder. I tried 6 times to get in touch with his teacher at home and finally left a message. After giving him a lecture about how important it was for him to pay attention in class and understand what his homework assignments are. That if his teacher doesn't tell him, or he doesn't understand he must ask her. I had given him the assignment on Wed night to ask his teacher what it meant. He said he forgot to ask her when he got home on Thursday night. I was very frustrated and was very close to grounding him from playstation for a week if he didn't start paying attention better in class. I wasn't sure if it was his fault or the teachers fault. So tonight I get a call from his teacher and she said it was "picture form - for school pictures" and to remember to bring in the Katrina donations. I had already turned in his picture forms the second day of school so that never crossed my mind. He wrote from instead of form. Then she went on to tell me how he was doing such a great job in class. That me and my husband have done a wonderful job with him and she can tell we spend a lot of time with him. She said he was so polite and always participated in class. She said he is the only boy in the class not to have his name written on the chalkboard as a warning for talking. She just could not say enough about him. Now I'm just dying to hug and kiss him and tell him I'm sorry for accusing him of not paying attention in class. I can't wait to tell him I was wrong. I feel so bad, yet I'm so happy right now. Sorry for that long winded story, I just am beaming from how nice of a call it was.

Marty - Glad you're feeling better! :)
Melanie - What a great call from your DS teacher! Thanks for sharing that with us! :) I would love to see the Hungarian Goulash recipe if it works out for you. I just ordered some Hungarian Sweet Paprika myself yesterday from Penzeys Spices. hehe
Time to make dinner for me! I am roasting veggies (mushrooms, celery, and zucchini) and chicken together, making a salad, and will probably have a small cup of ice cream, or some peanut butter & crackers for dessert.
If the rain lets up, I may do another late night walk. If not, some TV commercial weight lifting.
Have a great night all!

Quick question, do we use our starting weight from Tuesday? I just want to make sure that I am starting at the right point. I didn't exercise yesterday after getting up at 3am for no reason except my body didn't want to sleep, I just didn't have the energy. I have been up since 2am today but I am going to try hard to get on the TM this afternoon. Hopefully that will make me crash tonight for the entire night.
Have a great day everyone and lets keep losing.

Good Morning!
I just wanted to make sure everyone understands the rules.
-Yes, you should start with your weight on Tuesday night. Weight lost prior to the contest does not count towards the total.
-The reason we are in teams right now is for support. It’s not easy losing weight and it’s a proven fact support is a key to success.
-Once the ‘Biggest Loser’ becomes one team, so will we (the only difference is we will not be voting anyone off). At that time, it will be an individual contest. We are looking for the WISH Biggest Loser.
-Each team should track,
1. Individual weight loss
2. Total Team weight loss.
The team loss is just a little friendly competition to keep us motivated. The weekly winning team will be able to display the weekly Biggest Loser clippie (coming soon).
-Although there will only be one person who will become the WISH Biggest Loser, we all win! We are losing weight, getting healthy and making new friends. :)
Now for some awesome news!
As you know, Dreams Unlimited Travel is a sponsor of these Boards. I spoke with one of the owners and they are very supportive if what we’re doing. Because they understand a lot of you are working towards losing weight for your next Disney vacation, they have agreed to sponsor a special gift to the person named the WISH Biggest Loser!
The WISH Biggest Loser will receive the following:
-A special one of a kind Clippie ‘The WISH Biggest Loser Contest Winner’
And
The individual who loses the most weight during this contest will receive one of the following:
• $100 Ship Board Credit on your next Disney Cruise Line cruise booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel.
or
• $100.00 Walt Disney World Resort Gift Card to use on your next WDW trip booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel
or
• $100.00 Disneyland Resort Gift Card to use on your next Disneyland trip booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel
The winner will be able to pick one of the above prizes and must book the vacation through Dreams Unlimited Travel to receive the gift. If the winner has an existing reservation through Dreams Unlimited Travel, the prize can be applied to that reservation
This prize is only offered to those who joined the WISH Biggest Loser contest prior to this post.
Believe me, I know the ultimate prize is losing the weight and staying healthy but a little additional motivation and friendly competition never hurts! :)
Good Luck!

Good morning Red Team,
Wow Kelsie- Thanks to Dreams Unlimited for that wonderful news. I've got a cruise booked with them for Nov 2006 so I know that is a super motivation for me!! Please let me them know that we appreciate the support they are giving us!
I'm off for a run- Have a great day everyone. Pleas let me know what kind of mini-challenges we could do. I'd like to maybe come up with some things to really keep us motivated.
I'd like to challenge everyone to get some kind of exercise in today and tomorrow. It could be as simple as just walking up and down your stairs a few times, going outside for a walk around your block, going to the park and getting a run or walk in.
Go Red Team!

Good Morning! Well I didn't do any excersing yesterday, but I maintained my weight which is good. I found this great website and I wanted to share it with my team.
FoodTracker (http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/)
You can put in the food you eat every day and it tells you how you are doing compared with the Food Pyramid. You can also put in your excercise every day. It is really cool and registration is free. Good luck to everyone today!! I will check in later. Anyone up for a chat tonight??

Just checking in after my run. I was able to get 3 miles in and stretching afterwards. For those of you just starting an exercise regimine, don't forget to stretch afterwards. It will help legthen your muscles and help from getting injuries.
Marty- I was beaming ear to ear!! I also felt really bad that I got on to him about not paying attention when he was doing everything he should. I need to learn not to jump to conclusions.
I want to get a Firm sclupting tape in either this evening or tomorrow. Great job!!

Agotta-Thanks for the link. Another good one is www.fitday.com - I love that one for being able to track your percentages of carbs/protein/fats. I think I could do a chat tonight. I'll check back this evening to see when everyone can get on. Maybe we can shoot for 9pm EST?
Well off to take a shower and eat. I've got to get breakfast and lunch in prior to leaving at 11:45am now. I'm also packing water and on program snacks for the game this afternoon at 2pm. Its an away game so we have a long travel to and from. Planning will help me stay away from the snack stand out of desperation. Have a great afternoon everyone.

Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple days, but work's been a bit scary. Fall weekends are one thing after another in the sports department! Busy, busy, busy. And then some. Even though you ate that today, you don't need to skip dinner or you'll be starving later tonight and more prone to snacking when you shouldn't. Try to eat a healthy dinner and drink lots of water the rest of the afternoon. Don't let this set you back for the week. We can do this together as a team. :grouphug:

agotta - This is excellent advice from Tammy! It shows how one "cheat" landslides. Get right back onto your plan and the results will follow. My philosophy is that our success does not come from the decision to make the journey, but from all the decisions we make a long the way. So you made one choice that was not so good, if your next 10 choices are good you won't even remember the bad one!! :flower:

Hi Red Team,
I'm glad we ended up not doing chat last night. I ended up with another headache last night and went to bed around 8pm. I really was feeling lousy. I think it was the heat from the sun at DS7's football game yesterday. It was really humid and the sun was very hot.
I checked the scale this morning and I was very pleased. I'm excited to see what Tuesday will bring!!
I'm hoping I'll be home in time for chat tomorrow too. I have Weight Watcher Weigh-in and Parents night at DS7's school.
Tammy- Glad your feel in control of your eating. That is always a hard battle. Finally I feel the same way after a summer full of vacations.
Agotta- Don't worry about the candy bar- that's in the past. Try to stay focused on today forward. We will all have days we eat things we shouldn't. Its what you do on a whole that matters. Keep up the great work!!
Laura- Great job getting your walks in. I hear you about fall sports!! Its really hard to keep up with everything!

Howdy!!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend (too bad it's almost over). I did pretty well this weekend. I went to the fair on Saturday. I did eat a couple of things that weren't healthy but I had planned ahead knowing what I would eat. I did not eat until I was stuffed, which is what I normally do at the fair. It was nice to leave not having that sick feeling.

Good morning Red Team :sunny: ,
Well I must say last night was the most strange night. I went to bed on a high from getting Front row tickets for Disney's the Lion King for next July. Its coming to Philadlelphia next Summer and the Disney Visa Card had sent us a flier for a pre-sale. I actually got front row aisle seats and I'm so excited. I was having a hard time going to sleep because I was so excited. It didn't take more than an hour to fall asleep but I remember I tossed and turned. Then I woke up at around 4am from a horrible dream. It was so vivid and I remembered all of it and it took me a few minutes of going over reality in my head to convince myself that it wasn't real. I finally fell back asleep and woke up around 5:30am dreaming the same dream. Its as if I had one long huge nightmarish dream that lasted the ENTIRE night. My alarm didn't go off for the second day in a row either, so I don't know if its broke. I woke up about 45 minutes late exhausted. I feel like I didn't sleep at all. I also feel very jumpy. It was all very strange.
I'm just glad the night is over. Now I just have to make it through today. Not sure how long I can stay at chat tonight, but I'll definately be there.
AuntieM03-Great job of planning ahaed at the fair. I know its a great feeling to come away from something you normally overeat at and know you did well! Keep up the great work.

I'm exhausted from stress and lack of sleep, but we need crickets to feed the lizards so I'm going to WALK and push the dogs stroller. It is about 2 mi each way with a big DIP in the middle, so lots of hill pushing. I'm hoping that Target will let me sneak in to the bathroom in the front of the store to potty before heading home. I'm also planning to pick up a lg cf diet coke at the gas station before heading home - they're 69c for 44 oz and you get 3c of your next gas purchase of up to 15 gal. Last time, I had accumulated over 30c which helps. I usually only go there when I take DD to fencing as it is cheaper to buy her 44 oz of gatorade at the fountain than to buy 32 oz bottles at the grocery.
So, I'll let you all know how long this trek takes me. I'm sure I will feel it as I walk normally fast anyway.

Just checking in after a not so great eating binge! I was just going to let it all slide by....but I really feel I need to fess up, so here goes!
Life at work is anything but pleasant. My eating is induced by emotion.....if I am happy, I eat! If I am sad, I eat! If I am stressed, I eat! If I am overwhelmed, guess what? I eat! Throw in a little PMS......when I am known to REALLY eat....and you have me. :guilty: So this week has been a whirlwind of emotions, a little PMS and a lot of food I should not have been eating! Oh, and as far as exercise has gone.....I have been proactive to the point that I ordered new shoes! So, I am not looking forward to teh scale tomorrow!
On a good note, I too had trouble sleeping last night. After going to a birthday party and indulging in alll the party food AND cake and ice cream, I woke up at midnight with an incredible case of nausea. I can't remember the last time I threw up....and thought for sure it would be last night.....but thank goodness that was not the case. The nausea has prevented me from stopping somewhere to grab breakfast this morning, eating the bad left overs and thinking it will be a whole before I eat cake and ice cream again.
Tonight I am going grocery shopping for the week and getting all the stuff I NEED to eat......I know there are MANY WW meals that are good and good for you! That is the plan. For me, I know my food plan fails when I fail to plan.
Sorry this is an all about me post! I need to go back and do some catching up. I will definately go back and read.....and I think I read that you guys might be chatting tonight? I will have to find that info and look forward to meeting up in chat!
Off to the grind stone!
Argh! Have a great day everybody!

Sorry I've been MIA--I've been bad and haven't wanted to report :confused3
Sorry team--I just didn't get it together this week with the eating. I did stat fresh today to correspond to my official start of my marathon training program. I think I'll have a small loss for the week but not as much as I had wanted.
The great news is I am running again (as of Saturday) so some of these pounds should fall off quickly as I inch back in to my program. Ran 3 miles this morning and will do 4 tomorrow.
Keep going everyone!!!
Kelly
P.S. Read a cool tip in Shape Magazine--buy the FF jello pudding snacks (the ones that are already made in individual cups) and freeze them. Then eat it in place of ice cream!

I had a busy day today. I was a substitute aide at the preschool my son went to. It was a class of 4 yo, only for 3 hrs. Then I went to my son's elem school and made copies of things for his teacher for an hour. I did ride the bike for 30 min when we came home. It's so much easier for me to do it in the morning. I am more motivated.
I'm an emotional eater too. Happy, sad, frustrated it doesn't really matter. But since I joined this team I've done better. I draw a heart on my calendar for every day I exercise so now I can look at it and ask myself if that whatever it is I want to eat is worth blowing all the exercise I've done. It's usually no. My husband and son had ice cream this weekend and I wasn't even tempted. Fountain cokes, on the other hand, get me almost every time.

I am hoping to lose a little, but I have got to get more exercise motivation. When is the chat?

Hi all!
Chat is in 2 hours and 20 min! At 9pm EST! Be there or be blue! ;) jk!
As far as I have seen Julie, all you need to do to chat is go to the main chat page. Click on the chat link and then enter your id and password on the screen that pops up. You should be able to select our chat room from the pull down menus if it all works out right. :)
See everyone there! I have a fire drill to do here first and then I am making dinner. What a busy eve!

No drum roll here. Maybe a little finger tapping on the rim..... But, I am down .5 since Thurs and that is the first time I'm down AT ALL in a long time, so I'll take it.
6 pounds is FANTASTIC Liz! Huge Congrats & Hugs!!
My commitment to the week is to avoid the cookie dough (double chocolate chocolate chip that is in my fridge calling my name!) and to Exercise M - F at least 45 min/day plus try to fit in some extra somewhere. Weekend is iffy due to DH being home, but we'll see.
Today I'll do WATP 4 mile as my heel is oozing where a tiny blister formed.

Glad you all enjoyed a chat. I was too sleepy.
This morning I did Ultimate Calorie Blaster. Definitely not my favorite. Today was the 2nd time I've done this workout and part of the cuing is fast for me. I've only been doing step aerobics since Sept 6 so I haven't learned everything yet. So part of the DVD I did the step routines on the floor. And I did the extra ab workout.
Enjoy your day.

I hate that I missed the chat last night, hopefully I can make it next time. I am down 1.2 pounds since last week. 6 pounds is awesome for a week. My alarm went off for me to get on the TM this morning but I woke up cramping so decided not to push it this morning. I'll be back on there in the morning and get an extra walk in on Saturday.

For the 1 lb losses, I personally think it is a good loss. I know that I can't lose more than at most a couple to three pounds a week. Let's not make a 1 lb loss sound like a bad thing, let's think of it as another pound off our bodies.
Keep up the good work everyone.
For those that are sick, I hope that you are feeling up to par soon.

::yes::
I just got very lucky in my weigh in! The week BEFORE we started this challenge, I was doing Atkins to try to get a jump start. I weighed last Tuesday and was really upset that a week of eating nothing but protein only got me a 2 pound loss......so I switched to WW and ate about 50 pooints over and above what I should have for the week.....I thought I was going to be doomed at weigh in today. Shock of all shocks....I was down 6 pounds! Now, I did manage to get sick Sunday night....which also drug into Monday....at least eating wise. I really wasn't in the mood to eat much Monday....but today I have to tell you, I was starving!
So, to keep me honest, here is my food plan for the day:
Breakfast:
Lo Carb Bagel with Free Cream Cheeese
No Sugar, no fat yogurt
Snack:
Apple
Fat Free Caramel
Lunch:
Can of Veggie Soup
Orange
Lo Carb Bagel
Snack:
Tomatoes
Dinner:
Chicken Breast
Cottage Cheese
Steamed Veggies
Dessert:
Sugar Free Jello and Cool Whip Free
I think that will do it for the day! Of course add a BUNCH of diet coke, water and tea and that should take care of that!
Oh, and :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: my new shoes are on the truck for delivery.....so I think I am also going to get in a nice little 2 mile walk this evening!
Oh and as I was reading the blue team thread...I came across this....
"Just Say No." Just as it sounds, we all will "Just Say No" to anything and anyone that would sabotage our healthier lifestyles...this includes the coffee break donuts and the friend who wants to park in the spot that's closer to the door! Throughout the day keep track of how many "no's" you say and post here...whoever has the most is the winner of the challenge!
Sound like anythig anybody would like to join me in? What a great idea from the blue team! I think we shoudl try to beat them at their owm game....LOL!
So, I will start with I really did say no to the donuts today! Every day that our part time person works, she birings in donuts. She even know everybodies favorite kind....well I said no to the donut! I amy have to say no a few more times. But hey, at least I am prepared and went shopping and have stuff that I can say yes to! And in her defense....she brought me a BIG bowl of tomatoes to eat instead of donuts!
Who is next? Tell me something to inspire me!!

I'm down 2.5 this week. It would have been more, but I wanted pizza last night!!
Thursday morning I leave for a birthday weekend at the Polynesian. My plan is to eat what I want, but only eat half of it. I can do it. In May I lost four pounds while at Disney. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Got a mid day challenge for all of you.........
I am stuck at work and really feel the need to do "something". I am wearing the wrong shoes to really go out and walk....but I am thinking......I HAVE to do something today on my lunch hour. Anybody want to commit to doing something after reading this challenge? If you feel like doing 10 jumping jacks, a game of hop scotch, jumping rope, a short walk, a flight of stairs....whatever gets you up and moving.....just do it!
Start your post, do your activty and post back. Can we get 10 of us to just do something? I think we can.......so what are you going do for yourself? and for the team?
I just walked up and down a flight of stairs three times.

Good day, campers...
Just had a free minute, so I wanted to report. Count me in for a 1.6-pound loss this week. Not tremendous, I know, but it's a lot better than a 1.6-pound gain. I'll try to give you a bit more in the coming weeks -- must...stay...away...from...Chinese...buffet... It's those darned little sweetbreads. They call to me in the middle of the night...

Zero lost for me this week. . .zero gained for me this week. . .
I'm positive its water retention (PMS) and. . .girly related. I've been walking/jogging on the treadmill (see the Sept. exercize challenge clippie!), drinking at least a liter of water a day and. . .sorta bad on the eats. But, 's only temporary, next week should be much better.
Here's to week 2, gang.

Hi Red Team,
Sorry I was MIA yesterday. I had an offsite staff meeting and then football practice and of course I had to weight-in, watch Biggest looser, Big Brother & Rockstar INXS. This is the first time today I've had a chance to check in with everyone. Sounds like everyone is doing great. I'll go through tonight and write up everyone's results. Later today if I get a chance.
My loss is 3.4 pounds this week. Of course I got up this morning and was down another 1.4. Why oh why did it not show up last night, lol! Anyway that was super exciting.
For the challenge that Liz gave, I'm going to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs here at work when I come back from lunch.

Where is everyone today??? I can't spend all of my time teasing the Blue Team!! (Though we are having some fun over there! LOL :rotfl: )
I hope that everyone is having a happy & healthy day!!! I am going to be doing some power shopping today as I have a short amount of time to get some grocery shopping done for the dinner I am making for my staff tonight. I am making them a salad, chicken parmigiana (mine will have no breading & be grilled instead of fried hehe), then I am roasting a huge pan of summer veggies and tossing that with some pasta & extra virgin olive oil/roasted garlic sauce (That way I can get the veggies and they can have pasta! hehe), I will probably also buy a small loaf of rustic bread. And then for desert one of them has requested something chocolate and raspberry so I am going to make a chocolate raspberry brownie trifle (I will be skipping the bread and pasta so I can have a small scoop! hehe) I also have several meetings today and lots of other stuff to do, wish me luck!!
Have a good one all! Don't forget to do something good for your body today!!!
