I live in Jackson, MS. We are heading to WDW on Friday afternoon. We'll be taking (MS) HWY 49S -> I-59S -> US98 (AL) -> I-65S -> I-10E (FL)

Does anyone know of any problems on the highways? What is the gas situation (other than high)?

Any info would be great.

Gas is no longer a problem in Mobile and eastward. If you want to stay at a hotel, that is another matter. Mobile is all booked up and you have to go east towards Destin, FL for a room. I-10 eastboud over Escambia Bay should be your only problem traffic wise, expect a 1 - 1 1/2 hour delay in slow moving traffic. I-10 goes from 2 lane to 1 lane over Escambia Bay. A section of the bridge collapsed during Hurricane Ivan and a temp bridge is in its place. The earlier or later you are passing the bridge would be better.

Good Luck!

Gas in the Pensacola area is not too hard to find. Most stations do not have all grades available, but most seem to have 87 octane.

Unless there's an accident on the Escambia I-10 bridge, the delay should not be as long as mentioned above. We went over the bridge last weekend with no delay at all. Traffic can back up there, but when it does, it's still moving, but slow. Just to play it safe, I'd try and get through the Mobile/Pensacola corridor before 5PM.

Hope you have a great time!

I don't know about the roads, but I hope you have a great time!

And you might want to post this on the transportation board as well. The people over there are really helpful, just like here.
