when you're out on a run? I am somewhat big (clydesdale/athena) and won't wear those very short shorts you normally see the pro marathoners wear.
But with longer shorts, they tend to "ride up" and I constantly feel like I'm pulling the legs down when I'm running. That is so annoying.

I have worn spandex shorts with a longer T-shirt and that's ok for me. In Jan. it could be a little cooler, so I'm thinking long spandex with layered shirts (coolmax Short sleeve/long sleeve).

Any other ideas?

I wore a pair of shorts over the spandex shorts so I felt covered, but didn't have the riding up part to deal with. January of 2005 was unusually warm, so I had on a short-sleeve shirt and shorts and was very comfortable.

I wear pants! I also have the "ride up" problem but mostly I just don't want to deal with shorts--the riding, the seeing underwear, whatever. I opt for yoga style pants--dryfit though!! I also wear a dryfit tank top. I just feel more comfortable like this. The last thing I want to worry about is diggin my clothes out of you know wear ot being self conscious. I wore these for the 1/2 marathon last year and was very comfortable. I wear pants year round to work out--in Florida--but the summers are spent inside the gym!

I like to wear the compressed coolmax or dri-fit (NIKE) pants that go past my knee. It keeps it from riding up, they stay snug against my skin and best of all no schaffing!! I also wear the same type of shirt. I like the compression fit since it stays put.

TerriI wear the spandex or whatever they are called. Tried the dry weave shorts and end up with chafing every time. So I don't care what ya all see, I am comfy in my shorts, or it will be longer depending on the weather. As John Bingham has mentioned in Marathoning for Mortals book, I will take many choices and I will also take layers that I can discard to the "Goodwill" pile along the way and not have to worry about those layers.

Good luck with figuring it out.
