I have posted a Poll because my intent is to have as many Canadian Disers to read this, post their opinion ,then I'm going to send the link to Tim Hortons to hopefully show the interest in such an endeavour.

As cool as that would be I think it would be better served at the crossroads centre and the Orlando Airport.

Umm....the point of this would be that Tim Hortons is a Canadian institution and it would be perfect in the Canadian pavilion (Crossroads and MCO would'nt likely have any interest in Timmy's).

I would only use it for the frosted cinnamon rolls and the old fashioned plain doughnuts. But I still think it would be better at Crossroads and MCO. That way those flying can get a little taste of home before getting on the plane and those drivcing can grab one before they get to Ohio. Or without having to waste a day on a pass to go for one.

God no! They already have McDonald's everywhere at WDW I don't think we need a Tim Horton's. It cheapens the pavillon IMHO.

Well, Tim's is definately Canadian...or so I am told. There are no Tim's in the U.S. If this is true, I would say Tim's is a part of us. So, maybe it should be part of the pavilion. :confused3
If you are a Tim's drinker, it would be great to treat yourself to your favorite coffee!! :drinking1

You got my vote on this one. When we went to WDW in July the first thing on our list to pack was a can of Timmy's coffee. It was abit of home to enjoy while we were there.Good to the last drop. :wave2:

Im not a coffee drinker so it really wouldnt make a difference to me if Tim's was there or not. I know my husband would probably say yes.
Just to let you know that yes there is Tim's in the US. Not sure how many but they are in Buffalo NY and Ohio. Not sure if they have any more in other states or not.
If Beaver Tails made it, then Tim's definitely should be there! There is one on every block here in Halifax!

Where is the Timmies in Kentucky I don't recall seeing it or a sign for it during our drive down in May. I am no longer a coffee drinker but I love the cinnamom rolls and old fashioned plain doughnuts.

Yes, Tim hortons is a Canadian company, but like many others is owned by a US group.
Tim Hortons is the financial centre of Wendy's, representing just over a quarter of its 2004 revenue of $3.6 billion US, but accounting for more than half the operating profit.
Wendy's, which started as a single restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, in 1969, bought Timmys in 1995.
That aside, when we were in the Le Cellier a couple of weeks ago, we jokingly asked about a Tim hortons coming to where the Beavertails used to be. He said first, the beavertails left, because the ingredients required were too expensive, hmmmmmmm. Secondly, he said others have indeed suggested a Timmies, but so far no go. So, we ordered one of their frozen ice cappucinos, which is very thick btw. We had the most wonderful waiter, and my husband received a disney certificate for answering a number of hockey trivia questions. We had a great time, but so far, no Tim Hortons in Epcots future.

What the heck could be expensive about Beavertails?!?! Perhaps there is a flour shortage in the Southeastern USA? Maybe a fryer-oil embargo? Or the sugar comes across the spice road from China (right over the Int'l bridge lol). ;) :confused3
I go shopping a few times a year in Buffalo. Not only do they have Tim Horton's there - they have plenty - and the drive-thru would remind you of being at home.
That said, I agree that a Tims at the airport would do very well (remember the snowbirds...) but also wouldn't walk away from one at Epcot.

Maybe they should have a Tim's in every park. :sunny:

I would be delighted to be able to have my ice capp, and I definitely have Cafe Mocka withdrawls whenever we go down south. I think putting one in WDW would be a fabulous idea, I can just see all us Canadians lined up waiting for our fix :rotfl:

.
When Ron Joyce sold Tim's to Wendy's, he gained 1% more in shares than Dave Thomas had at the time, becoming the largest single shareholder in Wendy's. In the early/mid 80's, a few Tim Horton's franchisees opened two locations in Florida (which I believe later closed) as an excuse to write off their Florida trips. This was the beginning of their U.S. expansion. South (?)Carolina and New York state also followed with not too successful ventures.
As of July 2005, there are over 260 Tim Hortons locations in the United States. These are situated in Michigan, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Kentucky, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
I go to Tim H"s in Canada weekly it's only a couple minutes away from where I live. I love the Iced Caps :drinking1 I would LOVE it if there were was one in WDW. :drinking1

Considering how the rest of the Canadian Pavilion is decked out....Tim's would be one of the few 'genuine' hallmarks of Canada!
However, I wonder if Tim's is as popular all across Canada as it is here in Ontario? When we were at Whistler a few years ago I asked for a 'double double' in a coffee shop and the counter person looked at me like I was speaking in a foreign language.
Nevertheless, my vote is for Tim's. Coming from St. Catharines, the donut capital of North America, I could hardly vote any different!

Of course there should be a Timmy's at Epcot!!!
I still can't understand the cheese soup but Timmy's would make sense!!
I want to be the one to own that franchise!!!

Toad the snowbirds coming to and from Canada would love a TImmies at the airport could you imagine the lines there would be at that spot. That in my opinion is the bgest location in FLA for one that and crossroads or DTD. But alas it is owned by Wnedy's and McDonalds has the Disney maret covered so I say put it at Crossroads rather than in Epcot then we are't having to go to the park or that one park every day just for our doughnut fix LOL

For all you Tim coffee lovers out there....a quick question - how might it compare to Dunkin Donuts coffee which is as legendary here in the Northeast as like it sounds Tims is in Canada.
I find Starbucks coffee a little too intense, but the DD coffee flavor to me is
perfect and truly addictive - I pick up 2 XL coffees with Splenda & cream every morning on the way to my office (50 min commute) - no better way to start the day! On weekends I make excuses to get out and drive by a DD to grab my coffee. Other donut places can't seem to make coffee anywhere near as good.
Anyone familiar with both who might be able shed some light?
Thks,
CharlesTD

I find DD to be ok well when I drank coffee but Tims is just great I can't explain it really it is just a very good smooth cup of joe. It doesn't have the bite to it that most places do I even found it a bit with DD coffee. But they are very close but Timmies will always IMHO win out over the others.

I'd love a Timmies in Epcot. We were there in the summer and all I could think the whole time was that I'd practically kill for an Iced Capp. Nothing I tried there compared favourably to it.
As for the coffee, I don't drink it but I swear they put something addicting into it. Tim Hortons in the only place around here that has a lineup of cars waiting to go through the drivethrough at 7am.

I completely agree with you on that one and as you can see in Ontario Timmies has chased KK away they only have 2 stores left here and they are in the GTA. I heard that Timmies is even moving into KK teritory in the US and doing better than KK is there.

First of all, Donuts (or "dough-nuts") are NOT breakfast!!!!
It's funny - we just got back and pretty much ended up daily at Epcot for one reason or another, and each time, we passed Canada, we wished for a Timmies!!!!!
Seriously, though - the coffee is very good - not the best, but it's more the icon of Tim's that makes it great. Do we really want to share that with the Americans?

Greetings from WDW!!
Living and working here without a Timmy's has been hard. I finally got a tin of coffee brought down for me a couple of weeks ago. I've been working in the Cdn pavilion at Le Cellier for almost 3 months now, and like everyone else, I'd love to see a Tim Horton's in the pavilion, but I really can't see it happening anytime soon. The Cdn CMs have even turned our US managers in Timmy addicts... lol. I asked one of my managers about why we don't have Tim's coffee and it has something to do with the contract that WDW has with Nestle. They tried to at least serve the coffee and the restaurant and it has to do with the legal contract stuff. I wonder if McDonald's may have a problem with it too because of the partnership between Tim's and Wendy's.
As for the BeaverTails... I'm disappointed that they aren't there anymore, but from what I've heard they really weren't the same. BeaverTails in Canada are deep fried. The ones down here were baked... which completely changes them.
For anyone who's coming down.... come by and say hi. We love when Cdns stop by. Gives us a little piece of home.
Sandra :)

..a point of clarity on Krispy Kremes (KK) - the story of a company that grew too fast for its own good - it really has ONLY had a traditional stronghold in the deep South...it has never been a truly national US chain - Ontario folks have probably had more exposure to KKs than New Jerseyans, for example (where we have never really seen a KK outlet).
as I mentioned before, most of the US east coast is ruled by Dunkin Donuts (DD) and it would be very interesting to see what would happen in a Tims-DD showdown (coffee and otherwise) - for the folks working at DW who are Cdn -if you have DDs around Orlando - you must have heard about the legandary coffee at DDs - try some!
As for Beaver Tails - I'm glad to hear an inside scoop on the ones they used to serve at Epcot - with much anticipation, I finally tried one on my last trip to DW (about 2 years ago) and I personally thought it tasted like a really bad Auntie Anne's pretzel! (for the life of me, couldn't see any appeal whatsoever)
Nice to know they weren't "authentically made" - I thought that the bad BTs did almost as much a disservice to Canada than the film (which everyone pretty much wonders "why doesn't this get updated").

I pass by a KK every morning on the way to work in Mississauga. When it opened, the line ups were so huge that they had the local constabulary out directing traffic in the area for up to 24 hrs a day. That was all the rage for about two months. Then it started to tail off. I am now lucky to see 1 car in the KK drive thru on my way by. They are relegated to shipping their doughnuts out to Petro Canada stations daily and even have special little display cases for them. However, every Timmies that I pass has several cars in the line. I had the KK coffee once (and only once)...nasty stuff. As for DD, we have one in Union Station in Toronto. Not bad but its not Timmies. Timmies at Epcot If it takes a signed petition to send to Timmies Head office, COUNT ME and MY DOUBLE DOUBLE IN !!!!!!!!!!! :drinking1
Go Timmies Go :cheer2:
