Anyone who has done the Peppermint Pedicure at SSR during the holidays, PLEASE describe what it is and how it is done. Do you remember the cost? Can not find it in the search on boards or even on the Spa's website.
Thank YOU!

My two girls and I had the peppermint pig pedicures last November. We enjoyed them very much! It was a spa pedicure, very relaxing, and they used some peppermint scented defoliating and massage creams. They offered holiday colors for the nail polish as well. I seem to recall it was around $55, but it is discounted for DVC members. I believe they are offering the same discount this year, and it may already be on the DVC Website. I hope to have one again this year!

It was in the Member magazine...don't ask me what it's called, I'm still too new to the DVC. I do know that you can call the Spa directly and they will tell you all about it...or anything they offer. The previous poster is correct...it doesn't seem to have changed from what I was told on the phone. You can even book the treatments now...DH and I have ressies for our trip at Christmas...he's getting the 50 mins. Swedish massage while I get the Peppermint Pedicure. DS didn't want to try anything so he's hanging out while we get pampered. If you make a ressie, they ask that it be held with a credit card and I was told we had to cancel a minimum of 4 hours prior to the treatment time.
The phone number for SSR spa is 407-827-4455. Hope this helps.

Hi~
I have one scheduled for our trip in November. This will be my first pedicure and I am looking forward to it.
I gather you mean, first ever pedicure? If so, you are in for an hour of :cloud9: !!! I don't have pretty, dainty little princess: feet, but after I had my first pedicure, I was so hooked!! At the spa I go to here, it's an hour long session, with complimentary bottled water or iced tea and a good book I bring from home. (They have magazines, but I can only look at so many celebrity style articles.) The chair has the full massaging action, the tub is a mini spa tub with jets and the pedicurist is wonderful. She sloughs, scrubs, and files my old lady feet, uses these great sea salts exfoliating stuff, massages my feet and legs, then puts on a soothing cream covered in hot towels while I sit for about 10 minutes, followed by a polishing of my choice. From what the SSR CM told me I am expecting about the same service so WOOHOO!!!
And oh, here's a thought! I'm used to my spa giving me the really flimsy flip-flops to wear home...not a big deal, but if I'm walking back to my room, they may not be the best so I'm making a point of taking a pair flip-flops with me so I'm more comfortable walking. Just a thought I had...can't use my normal sandals since the pedicurist tells me to not cover the toes for an hour to allow the polish to fully dry.
Have a wonderful massage! :cloud9:

I have done the Spa Pedicure treatment twice at SSR so I am glad to hear that the Peppermint Pig is the same Pedicure with just peppermint added and a special holiday color. WOOHOO! I did find it in Vacation Magic from last year! Thanks!
I wanted to also let the first timers to know that they have full use of the spa area for the whole day on the day of treatment. They have an area to change clothes and into a robe they have. Then you can use the sauna downstairs for 15 minutes prior to waiting for pedicure. Then upstairs to wait to be called in. The best part of the pedicure is the treatment and wrap of the legs along with the massage of legs. :cloud9: I remember that they put a quick dry dorp on each nail before they let you go. Then I go back to waiting room and eat a banana, read a magazine while my toes completely dry. You can take a shower and then get dressed to leave. I try to get there an hour before my appt to take full advantage of the spa.
You will love it! and want to come back each time!

Cindy,
Thanks for the info about using the spa...I had forgotten about that...the CM I spoke with did tell me we could use the sauna, jacuzzi, etc. while there for the treatment. I may make a point of arriving early just to use it.
Thanks again!!

Hi~
I have one scheduled for our trip in November. This will be my first pedicure and I am looking forward to it.
I've never had a pedicure (ever) either. I plan on having this done on our trip later this year. I'd like DH to get one too but the name is scaring him away. I bet he'd really cringe if I told him about the quick-dry nail polish. I wonder what color he'd choose? :rotfl2:

Ok, this is funny. But it is not called Peppermint "PIG" Pedicure. You might get a chuckle out of the CM making your ressie at the Spa. :rotfl2:
I read about it in the Winter 2004 Vacation Magic Magazine. It is called Peppermint Pedicure. A twist on the popular Peppermint Pig candy they sell from Saratoga NY at SSR in a pedicure. The peppermint lotion on your "piggies" is the tie together. Whatever it is, I am all for it! :lovestruc
I wonder if they can do a red and white stripes like peppermint on the nails? Now that would be holiday style!
I had a good laugh at the color for JandR'smom DH's pedicure. :rotfl:
Laura, we will be there at the same time in SSR! Are you excited or what? :Pinkbounc

After reading your response, I asked my husband if he would be interested in getting a peppermint pedicure....he just looked at me like I was crazy and walked away.... :rotfl2: I guess that was a no? :rotfl2:
Thanks for the great information everyone......I can't wait. :earboy2:

Although I have not viewed the current year's literature on the pedicure, I can assure you that last year it was the Peppermint Pig Pedicure. It was advertised heavily as such, and seemed to be a big hit.
I will have to check out the current title of it. Since it is themed on the Peppermint Pig story (which I have read since we bought the Peppermint Pigs last year). The actual Peppermint Pig came in a nice gift box, wrapped in a cloth bag with a real metal hammer. An old tradition from the Saratoga Springs area.
Off to check it out...

TOMAR@SSR... When I called to make my ressie, I was told that the Peppermint Pedicure is only offered during the holidays...sorry it won't be there for July, but the CM told me it is the same pedicure as their regular pedicure, except for the peppermint. Not sure what lotion they use normally. You might want to call the spa and ask what will be available...the phone number is in my first post on this thread.

J and R's mom...you might suggest a massage for your DH...that is what we're doing...while I get the pedicure he's getting a massage.

cinderminnie...You bet ya I'm excited!! :cool1: I booked this trip back in January at our 11 month window and have been planning off and on ever since. It will be our first time at Christmas and I know it will be even more magical than any other time of the year. I just want to soak it all in when we get there! :cloud9:

Okay...once in a while I get the ticklish feeling, but it's over in a heartbeat. Honestly, those few tickles on the tootsies are worth putting up for the massaging of the legs and the sloughing on my feet! Besides, if the pedicurist tickles too much, I know my reaction...my reflex literally kicks in and my tootsie might make contact with a nose...

See, at least Laura is telling the truth! So come clean, how many of you gals nearly kicked your pedicurist due to a ticklish reflex? Come clean! Better yet how many ladies kicked the pedicurist? That would make the Funniest Home Videos show. :rotfl: By the way, how much is the 50 minute massage Laura, I get one once a month here in Jersey, maybe I'll go with the wife when she goes for her pedicure. It would be a welcomed treat after being at a park all day.
Cheers

MrGrumpy,
I try very hard not to kick the poor pedicurist...I've already given her a hard time just by putting my calloused feet in front of her... :rotfl:
As for the cost for a 50 min. massage, that depends on which type you have. Here is what I have in my file for the SSR spa. (I think I downloaded it from either the WDW Resort website or the DVC members page...can't remember and can't seen to just cut and paste from an Adobe acrobat file either.)
All of the following are the price for 50 mins. massages and DVC members receive a 20% discount.
Swedish massage $110
Aromatherapy $125
Adriondak Stone Therapy $125
Motherhood Massage $125 (but guess MrGrumpy wouldn't want this one...)
Mystic Forest Therapy $125
Shiatsu $120
Healing Hands $125
Reflexology $120
In Room $150 (after hour prices change)
Honestly, for the Swedish massage, it's about double what we'd pay around here...one of the benefits of living in the stix...but it's not often DH gets time to go at home so I'm treating him while we're at SSR.
Hope this helps!

RATS! I knew I'd forget to add this and I dislike the edit feature so I'm just adding another post.
SSR also has a Fitness Center where you can get the massages and such also and yep! the prices are less.
Here is the info about them.
Massage Services
Our commitment to body, mind and spiritual wellbeing is embodied in each of our massage therapies. A customized experience will elevate your spirit, relax your body and invigorate your mind.
Swedish Massage
Enjoy a relaxation massage oftraditional long strokes and kneading techniques. This therapy increases circulation, soothes tired muscles and relaxes the body.
(25,50 & 75 minutes) $55, $80 & $130
Sports Massage
Your therapist will utilize their experience in different techniques to relax you and relieve the symptoms of built up tension in the muscle tissue. Using Deep Heat oil to penetrate the muscle allows a greater level of relaxation. This is a moderate to firm massage.
(25,50 & 75 minutes) $70, $95 & $145
Aromatherapy Massage
You and your therapist create a customized Swedish massage with the added benefits ofpure aromatic, herbal essential oils. Facilitates relaxation and soothes muscles strained from ovenvork.
(25,50 & 75 minutes) $70, $95 & $145
These prices are more like what we see around here.
Again, hope this helps. I think you can just call the SSR spa and fitness center at the same phone number I listed in my first post if you want to inquire about any of the treatments.

Hi there :flower:
Those prices are for the fitness centers at the other deluxe resorts, not SSR. ie, AKL, WL, CSR, Y&B, BW, CR.
Also, the discount of 20% for DVC members is for certain services. I know the 50 minute Swedish is discounted to $88, and the Mystical Forest Massage is discounted as well.

WOOHOO! I got our Spa ressies made YESTERDAY!
After battling a major cold early this week, I finally got my voice back to call and book them. We have 2 Peppermint pedicures at 9am and then 2 more at 10am. My DM, MIL and her friend are coming to relax with me. DH has a Swedish massage at 10am. The CM told me that we would have full use of the facilities the full week we stay at SSR. YEAH!
I got up at 7am this morning to book CRT. But I got it! And then I went back to bed, YAWN!

Congrats Cinderminnie! I had to get up this morning and make my very last ressie...a sleigh ride at WL...it's the last thing we're doing on our relaxation day, which, if I do say so myself, has shaped up quite nicely. We'll sleep in, grab a late breakfast or an early lunch at Artist Palette, DH and I will head over to the spa for our treatments while DS chills out in the room, then later off to WL for a 5:30 dinner at Artist Point, mosey around the resort, grab a hot chocolate, and a sleigh ride at 8pm...then not sure what is on the agenda, but probably we'll head back to SSR because we'll have an 8am ADR at Breakfastasaurus.
I'm getting more excited each day...can't wait!

I got the peppermint pedicure last Friday. I asked if it was only during the holiday season, and the pedicurist said yes. Then she asked me if I wanted a peppermint pedicure.
It may not have been the full treatment, but she did put peppermint oil in the footbath and on my neck pillow.

Hold on - fill me in on the details of a sleigh ride, what is that all about!!! that sounds neat!! where do I find out about that?
Okay, did some research, booked 12/29 7:00pm, yeah, and then was able to get a ADR or what I like to still call Priority Seating at Whispering Canyon for 7:50, I can't beleive how awsome things are working out!!! YEAH!! Glad I found this thread, I am hoping the trails are all lit up with twinkly lights!! that would be pretty, I have walked them several times, during the day, but never at night.

The sleigh ride is the holiday version of the carriage ride. They put an overlay on the carriage to make it look like a sleigh. You can call the WDW-PLAY number to make your reservation. The rides are about 45-50 minutes long, but if no one has booked the hour after you, you may get a longer ride.
