View Full Version : Did any other WISHers get a message from a moderator?

I got a message saying I had too many pictures (?) in my signature and the moderators had gotten complaints from dial-up customers about threads where I posted. So, they deleted all my "pictures" except my 35 pound ribbon and WISH marathon team and said I could decide what else to add back.

I only have one ticker, so I don't think that was the problem. I've added back my 100 day challenge clippie because I feel like I "should" have the clippie for the challenge I started ;)

Just curious as to whether this is unusual? For some reason, I thought the WISH board participants were allowed to have their challenges in their siggies. I see others with 5 for September, September Exercise, Halloween and Thanksgiving challenges with more tickers than 1. And I don't have links to any photos, etc.

What about my fellow WISHers? Any unwelcome surprises this morning? I feel "stripped". I have a sad, sick feeling in my tummy about violating the Board guidelines and now feel very intimidated about adding anything else.

I didn't get a message (but I have a small sig), but from what I understand, WISHers are allowed one "official" WISH clipart in addition to the regular guidelines of 3 cliparts. Back "in the day" ;) most WISHers just had the banner (like I do), reflecting either their WISH membership, or their weight loss. I believe this is the "official" clipart that WISHers are allowed to have, in addition to the regular DIS guidelines for 3 cliparts in signatures. Any additional cliparts, even if they're WISH-related, aren't "official" and have to follow the regular guidelines.

Unfortunately, it looks like you were unintentionally not following the guidelines - as are quite a few other WISHers. Please keep in mind that I am not a moderator or anything like that - this is just my understanding of the situation. But it sounds like it was totally a misunderstanding (and a reversible one at that), so please don't feel bad!

Cam,

When I post to the DIS board outside of WISH I check the "Hide signature" option. I think the guidelines aren't upheld as tightly on the WISH forum as they are on the other forums.

I hope we don't have to be stripped of our fun clippies :(

Thanks, April! I think that is where I was confused. I thought "WISH" clipart was "official" :) I appreciate the heads up. Still wondering whether anyone else also got "stripped".

I will admit that I was one of the ones complaining. Sorry if you are upset but I think you had 13 cliparts on your signature and it covered several different months worth of challenges. Anyway I have high speed internet and it still took several minutes for the page to load because of them. At first thought it might be my computer so I shut it down and tried it again but it still was loading very very slowly but all other pages were up in only a couple of seconds. I do know that the moderators check for those things every once in a while even if there are no complaints. I know once I had I think 9 lines of info and two clippies and it was taken off as well. I just leave it alone totally now so that way I am not slowing anyone down. If the mods said dial up folks were having trouble also then I would hate to know how long their pages took to load!!!!! LOL!!!!

No problem at all, mum4jenn! I just didn't know what was allowed and disallowed, but I think my siggie is okay now. Sorry I created problems for you. I think the problem may be that many of those cliparts reside on servers outside of WISH and it must take a long time to "gather them up", so to speak. Hopefully, I am "legal" again--I only have 3 now total, instead of 10. :guilty:

I have dial up and I just set my options to not see the signatures of others. I'm sorry I have to do it, but there's no way I'd have time to let everything load. Oh, well, someday I'll get high speed- sigh!

I think that is the best solution. It really is fun to collect clippies in your siggie. It would be nice if people had the option to ony load "x" number of bytes from a siggie so people with dial up could limit the number of clippies that get loaded without elminating them altogether.

I'll work harder at keeping my siggie slim :)

Hey Cam:

I am sorry this happened to you. It is odd that you would be singled out as a cursory glance at a couple other threads showed others have 8, 9 and even 10 add-ons to their signature.

At least there are options for those who don't want to put their signature on all forums and those who don't want to view signatures at all.

Hi Cam,

Sorry you had that happen! Funny that I just found this thread after trimming my own down this afternoon because I just felt like it looked messy! I also didn't know about their being any set rules, so this is good to know too!

I do love seeing everyone's sig's though! Nice to learn about peeps that way!
Have a good one all!
