We're staying at Fort Wilderness Cabins in December, and we've rented our own car for the duration. Question is can we drive the car right to the cabin, or is there a parking area close by?

Fort Wilderness allows one car per site. After you have arrived at your cabin there is no additional driving allowed throughout the campgrounds. The one exception is short trips to the trading posts where there is limited parking. They offer internal buses to travel around the resort. You use this system to get to the pools, trading posts, buffeteria, outposts and marina. Electric golf carts are also available for rent from the bike barn and cost around $42.00 per 24 hour rental period. Jeff Spencer has a great Fort Wilderness FAQ'S site. We have stayed at the cabins many times and are returning this December.

Thanks for the tip on Jeff Spencer's site. I'll look forward to exploring it before our trip.

Are you saying that it is prohibited to drive to/from your campsite to go between the Disney parks and resorts as well as outside Disney? I'd really like to know because we've rented a car for Christmas week.

thanks for any answers.

No, you can drive in and out of the campground all day. You can drive to the Meadow's Trading Post and park for a little while. You just can't drive to any other areas within the campground and park.

And yes, each cabin has a driveway for your car. Right up to the door. Really spoils you for hotel parking lots!
