I hope someone can answer this, and thanks in advance!

I was sick with a stomach virus over the weekend which left me in bed or on the couch for two days. I feel better now, had my first day of real meals yesterday, and I'm wondering how long I should wait (if at all) before I start doing cardio again. My body is incredibly sore and tired from lying around, and also, I just started this cardio program, so that added to my soreness.

I don't want to wait too long and throw myself off track, but I also don't want to push myself too soon, either. Thoughts?

I would start off very slowly with less intensity than you're used to until you can better guage how your body's feeling. Viruses can really sap your strength, and even though you're feeling better and eating normally again, your body could still be needing more recovery time, rehydration and nutrition.

The best advice I could give is to listen to what your body's telling you. If you start back and you tire faster, or really feel like you need to stop, then do. Sometimes when I'm getting over an illness, I'll do things like yoga or stretching, or go for a light walk just so that I'm moving but not overdoing it. You'll not be improving your fitness level by working out while still sick, you'll be breaking it down. When you're ready to go full-force again, you'll know it!

I'm glad you're feeling better and best wishes with your fitness goals! :)

Exactly!

If your still tired and sore then take a few days to rest. Your body is still recovering from fighting of a virus and sickness. If you put more stress on it from working out it will only slow your recovery.
