This is one of the those places I never really got around to visiting but nevertheless it's sad to see another closure. Let's just hope that something worthwhile will take it's place. I reckon there are more than enough fast food outlets/restaurants in the area as it is!

It brings back memories for me because we always used to go there as kids, we did the short walk from the Travelodge to water mania quite a few times, sad to see it close but there was far too much competition what with the disney water parks and Wet n Wild.

Try this link instead: http://surfparks.com/

It looks like a proper surf park rather than water slides. Bit pricey too:

How much will it cost to go to a Surfpark?
If you walk in off the street and want to surf a 2-hour session in the Big Pool, it will probably be between $40-50. If you are a Surfpark member (see Membership info below), you will pay substantially less. If you are a beginner and want to surf in the small pool, it will cost about $30 for a 2-hour session.

Not sure it'll be a direct threat to BB/TL/WnW or water mania for that matter!

Hopefully this link will work to the new surf park that Ron Jons is planning along I-Drive. I think it looks more like a specialist/niche development for surfies more than just a regular "waterpark". I must admit it looks pretty cool though.

I'm not sure if it had much to do with the closure of watermania , IMHO the Disney parks, being much closer, probably had more impact on watermania's occupancy than anything on I-Drive. Everytime I drive past Watermania there arre virtually no people there. We went there for a day a couple of days in the spring and it was OK, with a 2nd day free it wasn't a bad price, but for a one day visit the cost was close to WDW and the park really didn't have enough going for it to charge those prices.

It probably has more to do with the fact SeaWorld have announced plans for an all-new water park (which will have a lot more than just slides and flumes) to open in 2007/08, which would almost certainly push the likes of water mania out of existence. Part of Highway 192 have already been marginalised in recent years, and it looks like a bad combination for WM.
