I second that. By the way, DH was under Gen Honore (sp?) during his tour in S. Korea a few years back. He was known as the Ragin' Cajun. That man does not mess around. NO could not be in better hands.

A big thank you to our military (I have never been so happy to see the military helicoptors flying over), and let's not leave out law enforcement, coast guard, firemen, etc. I broke down in tears on Wednesday (2 days after the storm) when one of our local news stations reported that the LAPD had just come through Baton Rouge, headed to New Orleans.

I am so proud of our military, also. They have restored order and organization which was desperately needed. My heartfelt thanks go out to all of them as well as law enforcement agencies from all over who are assisting. Let's not forget the power companies who are sending in workers to help restore utilities. Also, medical personnel who are volunteering their services. The list goes on and on...

Great job - After just 5 days
Most third world countries would have handled this better - Respectively already handled this better: See Tsunami 2004.
Nevertheless the people helping there right now deserve respect for their work, but it's their leaders which have to take the blame for the delays and the chaos.

It's their no-nonsense leadership that makes them so awesome.. Once their immediate superior tells them what to do, they get the job done - no if, ands or buts about it - no whining, no walking off the job.. Definitely heroic efforts.. :flower:
By the way - who is that "take charge" General that I saw in NO on the news this morning? I like his style..
