Anyone come across any sites with information on where people in nursing homes were evacuated too? I have a co-worker from NO, her grandmother & an uncle were in a nursing home there. They have heard from many family members and some are joining her here but still no word on the grandmother & uncle.

I will kiss the feet of whoever can give us that information. I have an uncle missing. He was at Jefferson Healthcare.

I was able to find the nursing home in a search and found where it had been evacuted too. Called my friend and she'd gotten that information but not been able to verify it, they also had a number of where the Sisters from the home had been evacuted so she was going to try it. At least that is something.
Kermit - this site mentions Jefferson but nothing concrete. http://overtaken.blogmosis.com/archives/029169.html

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
My mom is calling all the places on the list right now to find him. I think she may have to tell them that she's my aunt (my uncle's wife) to get information, but this is a case where lying is okay. My aunt is evacuated and can't get to a phone.

Yeah, I think a little fibbing may be called for. :)
They have been very open with the information, though. I've checked on patients for several different people.
I read somewhere that Louisiana had suspended some of the medical privacy (HIPAA) laws for the duration of the crisis.

BTW, you might try Pointe Coupee first. That's where I've found just about everyone.

Thank you to Janette and mdrache! That blog provided the information that we needed, and we found my Uncle Lowe! He's in a nursing home a few hours outside of New Orleans, and one of his DDs is with him now or will be soon. Thank you!
I did say I'd kiss your feet if you gave me the information I needed. I'll be in the DFW area at Christmas to see my ILs. Just let me know when you want me stop by and kiss your feet, Janette. :rotfl:

Glad to help :), the waiting must be the worst. My friend located her grandmother but got news that her uncle passed away. He was on hospice care, probably not well enough to survive the evacution. :(

I am working with a group of HAM radio operators to try to get information. Please e-mail me with their names, ages, possibly a description, who they might be with, and where they were last known to be and I'll pass it on. No guarantees, but it's worth taking the chance.

BF's sister has been heard from. We are just so relieved I am sitting here in tears. They've had no power and were running out of water. FEMA just gave them some water. Not sure what all their plans are at his point. But we are just relieved that they are safe.
Ducklite,
Thank you so much for everything you are doing!!!!

Janette, I'm so sorry your friend lost her uncle. :( It's so sad to be worried for so long and then get bad news.
