View Full Version : Prayers...I think we need these now.

I am so tired of all the hate threads around here. Anybody really care about the pain and suffering??? The dead??? Are we turning into anger and hate and finger pointing??
I don't want this thread to be about hate and anger. I will have it closed if it turns to that.
I just want to take a moment, and think of the souls lost in the hurricane. The people who are grieving for a lost loved one. I can't imagine the thought of knowing when people are talking about the dead in the water, wondering if they are "kicking" my loved one aside.
My prayers go out to the families separated, not knowing where they are. My prayers go out to the dead.
My prayers go out to the workers that are helping...the security workers...the politicians...
I pray for the people waiting, that they have patience and strength to make it.

Very well said. Couldn't agree more.
I pray for all the victims in this tragedy as well as for those trying to help the victims.

I pray for all of the victims-those that lost their loved ones, possessions, and pets (poor things).
I pray that help (in any way/shape/form) will come to those in need.
I pray that the volunteers stay safe and bring help to all those that are in need. They are truly amazing people that are giving of themselves to benefit others, what better gift is there then that?
God bless all those that are effected in this tragedy.

I pray for those left behind, for the sick and suffering. For those who put themselves in harm's way to help others. For our law enforcement, for out leaders.
Hear our prayer. Lord.

Isn't it funny how the hate threads keep growing, but something non-confrontational dies away to page 2?
How very sad.

I pray for everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. I ask God to bring peace and comfort to all those in need. I pray for those bringing relief; that they may have all the strength and determination they need to get the job done. And most of all I pray for this great nation; that this will bring us closer together as we all reach out to those in need.

I am normally not one to pray, but I think this is a case where it is well deserved...
Im praying for :
those still trapped in the hurricane ravaged areas
Those who lost their lives, the lives of loved ones (including pets)
Those who heroically stepped up to the plate
Those people who are so filled with hate that they take this time spread messages of hate instead of prayers of love.
Beastlover thank you so much for this thread I could not agree with you more.

I pray for the rescue of those still trapped in the ravaged areas.
I pray for rest, peace and the healing of grief for all the survivors.
I pray the rescuers will have the strength and resources to get the job done & done quickly. I pray that they will be able to get rest and peace from the horrible images that they are having to see.
I pray for our country and its leaders that we pull together to respond appropriately to all of those in need.

Finally a nice, positive thread on what we should be doing...praying. Not finger pointing, or Monday Morning Quarterbacking. It's so sad how many nasty, hate-filled and useless threads there are on the DIS right now. :sad2:
God please bless all the victims of this horrible National tragedy. May they be able to rebuild their lives again and receive comfort from you and their fellow man.
God please bless the poor souls of the dead and their families who are suffering so much.
God please bless our country during this sad sad time. :sad1:

I pray that everyone touched by this hurricane, victims, relief works, our troops, our law enforcement, and our goverment has the strength and wisdom to do what is right.
I pray for my cousin, who is in the national guard and deployed in NO right now, that God keeps him safe.

I too see no value in finger pointing. :sad2:
Add my prayers for those already mentioned...for all those afflicted in countless ways as a result of this tragedy. Loss of life, loss of loved ones, loss of homes and livelihoods...and now dealing with frustration and fear as they face their current situation and look to the future.
And prayers for those who have stepped up to the plate and are helping in countless ways. May the Lord bless all those who are doing their best and then some to help...Thank you for your efforts!!

I agree, Beastlover. I am tired of so much hate in this country, too. Now is not the time for it. We need to direct our hearts toward love and compassion, not hate and criticism. God bless the people who are suffering and also those who are helping them. I pray God also blesses each government official and agency who is facing the task of dealing with this unprecedented, horrific situation. Walk a mile in their shoes, people.

Ditto to all of the above.
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about everything and about how we haven't seen stories of hope. Got up turned on the tv and they were talking about this wonderful man who is letting 8 familes, total of 20 people live with him. The neighbors and surrounding businesses are helping to provide for them. I was able to sleep after seeing that.

Thank you for the positive thread Michelle {{hugs}},
My heart and prayers go out to each and everyone affected by this terrible disaster. I pray: all those who have passed to be at peace, the living will find the faith, hope, strength and courage to somehow go on, the families torn apart to be reunited, the children and babies be granted grace, those still waiting to be rescued to stay hopeful, those hungry and thirsty be supplied food and water, the sick and injured to be healed, all relief workers be protected and stay strong, our nation to open their hearts and homes, our leaders and government to be effective, other countries to assist in our great time of need, our military to bring aid and help restore peace, and most of all, our great country come together in prayer in our time of great need ^i^.
Many heartfelt thanks to all those assisting and may God Bless America!

Great Great Great thread
We must remember that no matter how bad it may be, God is still on His throne. He is still in charge, and it is to Hime that we must now look.
May God Bless all those who have been effected, and may God Bless all those who have come to their aid.

I would be very surprised to learn that anyone who holds any kind of religious belief isn't praying.. The prayers will continue for weeks and months ahead.. Churches are packed to overflowing.. People praying in their living rooms, in their bedrooms.. Prayer is powerful and hopefully will continue for a long, long time..

I've been praying continuously all week,
and I will continue praying.
But, I also have righteous anger, I don't have hate.
I want answers - not now, the important work
must continue without grandstanding - but I want answers.
I am one American, who if I had the resources
would have been in my Hyundai wagon loaded with water
and headed to I-10 in Louisiana,
who wants to know why the ensuing debacle happened.
I can multi-task, I have no problem praying for the President,
I have attempted to do so every day since 2000.
I voted for him & still support him, but I have no
problem demanding answers from him and letting him
know I'm disappointed.
I pray for everyone helping with the effort,
but I reserve the right to question the leadership, or lack thereof,
and the seemingly incompetent decisions that were
made on the local and state levels.
I especially pray for the victims...
