DH's company is donating 3 million and matching every dollar their employees donate.
I work at our church and we have partnered with other churches here and are taking in a few hundred survivors (read your thread, Ducklite!) and are providing for them. We are also accepting money to support those people and beyond.

Yep, company donated, they are allowing employees to donate via payroll deduct, and will do a match of employee contributions.
They are also trying to figure out if they can fill one of our trucks with supplies, if we could get it to the displaced folks currently in Houston. (We are in MA, but have retail locations in Houston and Dallas). If that happens, we'll be sending trailers full of water, supplies, clothes, etc.

So far the very small company I work for hasn't stepped up to the plate :sad2:  Our CFO is flying "home" to Alabama this weekend, and I'm hoping he'll get a kick in the butt when he gets there and things will change.
On the other hand, my DH's company hasn't yet announced anything, but they gave $1M to Tsunami relief, and were one of the first companies to ante up a donation ($1M plus another $1M in double matching funds from employees) after September 11th, so I'm sure they will be doing the same thing.

Mine has given money, matched employees contributions (which it always does), is forgiving loans, setting up help for area college students and more. We have an office in the Florida Panhandle. It shut down when the storm grew closer. They have remained partially closed so that the employees there can help in AL and MS.

My company is matching employee contributions and allowing employees to make direct payroll deductions. I am not sure if their will also be a corporate donation, I know they are still discussing it with the powers that be.
My department is collecting money on our own to send to one of the animal rescue charities. We have a lot of animal lovers here, so this is very important to them. So far, we have over $200.
My company is also one of the largest truck rental and leasing companies in the world, and they are donating trucks and vehicles as requested by FEMA and the Red Cross. Those are the organizations that they work with directly.

My hospital one of 2 pediatric hospitals on the national disaster team. At the moment we have not been asked to go down there, but we are taking in 40 kids on chemo from the NO hospitals.
We are also seeing & treating evacuees in our EDs and urgent care facilities, as well as taking applications from displaced nurses who may need to work while they live here. We have complied a list of available community resources, as well.

My company is donating time and money both. I work for a major medical organization, and we are "doing our thing" down there (I'd like to be specific, but I don't wan't to reveal who I work for) as well as donating money to other organizations from our own funds.

My company has donated $1million plus supplies and materials. In addition the company is working on support/housing/etc for at least 50 homeless employees. Not all are accounted for so this could rise. We have sites still closed so i guess we are a victim and a helper. husbands company is matching donations so we will do that. I am waiting for info on an employee fund to help those in my company.

$2 million plus matching employee donations. Coordinating places to stay for employees from the effected area. (we have four plants in the area) I will be hosting a fellow employee and their family from the effected into our home. Our church has set up a shelter in our multipupose room and is collected supplies for them. We will have special collections this Sunday for the relief effort.

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
As you know, since Monday, many of our 387 Humana colleagues in
Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi have been struggling to survive amidst the
devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina. The suffering and pain of our
colleagues in the Gulf States is almost beyond description.
With this in mind, Humana has taken the following actions to alleviate
their immediate needs and, over the longer term, help them rebuild their
lives:
-- Continue to pay all associates without interruption
-- Provide a temporary housing allowance for 30 days
-- Offer financial relief for essentials such as food and clothing
To facilitate this help, we urge any associate in Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama who has not yet done so to call HR4U at 1-888-431-4748. An HR4U specialist will gather information and answer your questions.
For Humana associates across the country, if you have been in contact
with any associate in the three-state area since Monday, please call HR4U and let us know what you learned. Associates who are willing to share their
home with a displaced colleague should e-mail HR4U at HR4U@humana.com.
Those who want to offer financial assistance, donate blood or contribute clothing and household items should do so through the American Red Cross.
As you know, The Humana Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar all Humana
associates' Red Cross disaster-relief donations made by November 1,
2005.
As we announced in a news release the day after the storm, we are
dedicated to providing our health plan members in the devastated areas
uninterrupted service and benefits coverage as we continue to implement
our business-recovery plan.
I want to thank all of you for staying calm, focused and productive
during these difficult days, and for your generosity toward your fellow
associates and toward all who have been affected by this unprecedented
tragedy.

Our hospital has a truck parked at its main entrance, taking donations of bottled water, baby food, diapers, personal care items, batteries. It was stressed that bottled water was the most urgent need, and bulk donations were requested.
We will load all the donations onto a CRST tractor-trailer truck that will start driving down to New Orleans tomorrow.
The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) sent a broadcast message yesterday, with this statement:
At this time, pediatricians are asked not to travel to the area to assist until a needs assessment is completed. The Academy will then issue another E-Breaking News alert appealing for volunteers and giving more details.
.
We are accepting college students from affected areas at many of our colleges here in Illinois. In addition-our students will be holding a rally for the victims next Thursday. We are cancelling classes, faculty/staff will be given release time, and we hope to "fill our quad". Here is the announcement:
Illinois State University student and administrative leaders have scheduled a “Redbirds for Relief” rally in support of the victims of Hurricane Katrina on Thursday, Sept. 8, from noon to 1 p.m. on the University Quad.
Illinois State Provost John Presley has asked faculty members to suspend classes during the hour and University employees will be given release time subject to departmental needs.
Student volunteers will collect money on the Quad throughout the day and during the rally, with all donations going to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Checks can be made out to the American Red Cross.
Starting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 6, student volunteers will staff tables on the Milner Plaza in an effort to raise $4,800 in hurricane relief funds in 48 hours. University Wellness Ambassadors have been asked to put out canisters in their units, departments, or buildings starting Tuesday morning to collect money from faculty and staff. That money, along with money raised from the 48 hour event, will be added to the donations collected at Thursday’s Redbirds for Relief rally.
“I am asking all Illinois State University students, faculty and staff members to attend this rally and support the victims of one our country’s worst natural disasters,” said Illinois State Student Trustee Barry Tolchin. “We’ve all been asking ourselves what we can do to help, and this event is a positive step.”
Tolchin will be joined at the rally by several speakers, including Illinois State President Al Bowman, Academic Senate Chair Lane Crothers and Lyn Hruska from American Red Cross of the Heartland.
“The University community has responded to the state, country and world in times of great need,” said Illinois State President Al Bowman. “The heartbreaking images from the Gulf Coast region prompt us once again to respond to that need.”
The Redbirds for Relief rally will be broadcast live on WGLT-FM 89.1, with streaming audio available on the Web at www.wglt.org
The American Red Cross of the Heartland will also hold a campus blood drive on Thursday, Sept. 8, from noon to 6 p.m. in Walker Hall.

Yes, monetary donation as well as a dollar for dollar match of employee contributions. I believe we will also do something with healthcare and long term help for the rebuilding of hospitals and clinics like we did with the tsunami. We expect that effort to be a 10 year partnership so I assume we'll do something similar there.

We are a governmental agency, so we can't donate money. We are however teamed up with another similar agency in MS and we will be sending some of our resources incluing man-power. The employees are also going to take up donations to buy supplies to transport up there to help that agency out.

Our company is contributing 1 million to the relief. All monies collected from our employees is going to employees of our 3 casinos that were located in the areas hit. Also employees will still collect their wages for at least 90 days.
For those not able to contribute financially, they may donate vacation time with that money going to our employees in the South.

I work for a small company, husband & wife owned. At one time they had 5 employees + themselves. As people left they weren't replaced and now it's only me, them, and the guy who does the shipping.
My employers recently moved to a different house which is being extensively renovated.
On Wednesday I brought up the disaster in NO and their response was, "Oh, we haven't had any time to pay attention to that. We have so much going on. The only thing we saw was someone looking for relatives and we don't want to look at that".
I was so upset I was shaking. I didn't speak because I was afraid of what I would say.
Needless to say my vote in this poll is in the no column.

I am a Port Authority of NY and NJ Police Officer. The P.A. is the owner of the W.T.C. and we worked 12 hr. shifts just shy of 2 years - most of it with only 1 day off after 9/11. It's now our time to give back after all the help we received. The Port Authority itself is matching contributions made by its' employees to give to the Red Cross. I will be making my donation on Tuesday. My prayers go out to all those affected. J from J

We made a corporate donation and are working with the Red Cross as a collection site. We are taking donations from our customers and employees. Since yesterday in our store alone, we raised over 5,000.00. We have over 60 stores in 4 (soon to be 5) states. If each store raises 1,000.00 a day for the next 2 weeks we will have been able to help a lot of people.

We raised $20,000 at a firm lunch where we all had to pay $5. to get in. Someone donated the food (don't know who, but it was REALLY good). The firm matched the $20,000.
We're doing a toiletry drive next week. :goodvibes

My company matches employee contributions. As of 9/9/05 they had collected $38,000 from employees so with the $38,000 from the company, my company is sending $76,000! We're pretty small in terms of company size, about 3,000 active employees nationwide.
