We are going to WDW over the Thanksgiving holiday and actually have reservations at Vero beach for Thanksgiving though Sunday.

Being the paranoid types and knowing how the hurricanes have been, should we make an alternate ressie now somewhere else in case Vero Beach is hit again?

Will ALL the resorts get filled up for the Thanksgiving holiday by the beginning of October? Anyone know the history of crowds this time of year and availability of resorts at the last minute?

Just thought of this...if Vero Beach does get hit again, will Disney themselves provide alternate accomodations?

You should be okay as far as hurricanes are concerned. I think the season is over about November 1. November is a pretty low rainfall month, especially the end. You should probably be more prepared for cooler weather than rain. It is our favorite month to go. It sounds like resorts are filling up pretty fast for the holiday weeks this year. I know a couple of years ago we decided to split our stay between two resorts during Thanksgiving week and the only thing available about three weeks out were concierge rooms at at couple of deluxes. The crowds start coming in the weekend before Thanksgiving and continue to grow. It is one of the highest attendance times of the year. Advice I have taken from the DIS is to just kick back go with the flow and stay away from MK on Turkey Day!

Have fun planning!

Thanks! I was actually worried about Vero Beach being hit during hurricane season and being closed over Thanksgiving. Not about getting hit by a hurricane while there. Was wondering if we should make alternate ressies now, rather than waiting to see if it gets hit before making ressies. Probably doesn't matter, Disney will most likely take care of us should something happen.

Glad to know November is a nice time to go. Was wondering if we will be able to swim then or not. Not a big deal. We'll be happy playing in the sand on the beach.
