I really love meeting new people on VMK, especially when I recognize them from the Dis boards!! Being a visual person, I find it very helpful to "see" the person I am talking with. I've loved seeing the pictures that have been posted so far -

I know I'm probably missing others, so everyone needs to post their picture here on this thread! Come on! Don't be shy!! I am currently hunting down a photo of me (how come females have the hardest time finding a picture of themselves?!)

Anyways, I wanted to get the ball rolling right away! I will add my photo on tonight as soon as my DH gets back to help me. Though I prefer to look just like PinkGirlygirl!!

Okay this is the only one I could find since all our photos are on CD's packed for moving. Just found out yesterday that our moving date went from September 30th to August 31. Wow. Excited about a bigger house as you can see our fur babies need more room. But My slow organized move has now gone to just put it in a box, clean and organize later. vmk game is for ages 8-12 and you are older than 12 so you are not in the age group to play vmk. :teeth: Disney is for people of all ages, color, and shape. (and anything else I forgot) And vmk is disney... so vmk is made for everyone no matter what your age is.

Hey, I'll field that one, since I know the answer...

That is a hockey "fashion trend" originally started by the Great One - Wayne Gretzky. He always did this when he played. Now, he originally did it when he was a little tyke and because of his talent was moved up to play with older boys. Since these boys were all bigger than he was, the jerseys were far too big and hung down to his knees. He tucked in the jersey on one side so that it wouldn't hamper his skating. Then he continued to do it through his career.

So, by tucking in your jersey, you are either making a fashion statement similar to, "I am a Wayne Gretzky cool hockey player!", or your jersey is too big.

Some hockey players in the NHL will tuck in their shirt if they have an endorsement deal with another company. For example, the team wears Koho shirts, but the guy has an endorsement deal with CCM, the shirt gets tucked.

Part of it is the fact that the jersey is simply "too big".... same reason why i tuck the jersey into the top of my elbow pads...

Another part... is just that I think it "looks cool"... dumb to say I know.... but the way a hockey player may dress... can be very intimating. Usually as soon as you it the ice... you can notice right away a players poosible abilities... just by the way they are dressed... sounds stupid.... I know... but it is true.

I don't like the way the jersey hangs... when it is untucked. I think it looks foolish... and if u look u feel good right? ;)

IrishHockey, Nice pictures by the way...I should have posted my high school or collegiate hockey pictures although that was like 10 years ago :sad2: I loved playing ice hockey and played for almost 19 years of my life.

To actually echo IrishHockey's comments there are definitely two reasons why people tuck in their shirts (1) Shirt is too big (2) Fashion Statement. There are many smaller hockey players or players who skate really low to the ice like a speed skater (Me for example) that would tuck in their shirts. If you did not tuck in your shirt sometimes it would get tangled around your knees like a women's night gown hindering your skating. For some reason I always got small shirts, what a paint to put on. The secondary piece would definitely be more a fashion statement being different on the ice compared to your team members. People wrapping different color tape around their stick blade besides black (btw, Since I played I never understood why someone wanted white since black blends the puck better with the stick...Oh Well!), etc. Through 19 year hockey career I never came across someone who did something different around fashion and was a special player amongst their team that association is a little bit crazy. Those players unfortunately stuck out like a sore thumb and received the appropriate attention they deserved from the other team :headache: :sick: :scared: :faint: :badpc:

One other point someone made regarding tucking in shirts...Yes, Professional teams may sponsor lets say Nike, but a particular player may actually sponser Reebock...So the player may actually tuck their shirt in or place tape over that part of their shirt. If you remember the Summer Olympics Basketball "Dream Team" Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Ervin Johnson, etc. When they received their gold medals many players drapped the american flag over their left shoulder to block sponsor's logo they did not represent. That was some time ago, but people may remember...

Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr are still the greatest players ever (Although, Being a bostonian I have to lean toward the bruin).

You may have read about them in another thread. They are so mean that my only option was to try to sell them, but there were no takers. Then I offered to pay people to take them; still no takers.

The smaller one on the left is DD13mo, and although she only learned to walk today (7 steps), she will shriek and drool you to the ice. On the right is DD3yo, intimidating with her game face, and showing off her stick-handling skills. She will whine you into submission.

Beware, the gloves are off... No mercy!

This maybe true in woman's hockey, but in male hockey that is totally false! From a male perspective, Your not out there playing an aggressive and physical sport to make a fashion statement. The black tape definitely makes a difference when playing a fast paced game (1) The black tape years ago was much more stickier than white tape allowing the puck to hang to your blade better. Although, It did collect alot more snow from the ice too. The black tape worked more like stick-um sometimes that professional football players use on their gloves to catch a ball. The black tape being sticky allowed your stick to really hug the puck better (2) When playing division I hockey or semi-pro hockey this camoflauge can make a big difference if the defensive player loses their concentration for a split second or goalie loses concentration for split second. That split second could give you the opportunity to blow by the player or blast that puck past the goalie. Since this thread is more on pictures this will be my last post regarding ice hockey. If anybody has been offended bringing out the gender subject...The fact is that male hockey is much faster paced than female hockey.

They look a bit too tough for me... Always had a problem facing off two adorable kids with hockey sticks in their hands. I'll take the bench with Irishhockey on this one, and maybe Canadian will be able to withstand their onslaught. Maybe. They look tough.

Ok there is a very good reason for not posting a pic here or anywhere on the net for me. I was reading the community forum one day...and someone said that another person that posts is taking the pics you all post, and putting some of them in his website, especially of children, and also has porn on that site!!! No thank you please. I wont be posting any pics.....I am sorry. If you want to know what i look like : I have long curly brown hair-brown eyes-...and well I guess I look like a MoM!! That will have to do. You can make fun if you want, but I still won't want my picture on here. Sorry again. ;)

That is an awesome picture there Mousse... I got a chuckle out of it! I remember the first time we went to WDW and cruecrazy was only 5. He got an autograph book and we spent hours running around finding characters! Missypooh and I were thinking about the alluring aspects of the lovely benches along the way, but the drive and motivation of a kid on a mission kept us going... priceless memories.

MousseDude you have great kids. Shocomousse has been one of my friends for a long time. He's a fun kid!

PurpleDuck---starwarskid was laughing so hard he could barely hold up the light saber. In fact, the storm trooper refused him passage to the dark side until he finally put away the light saber. Starwarskid had lots of stamina and he fought the storm trooper for a good 15 minutes up and down the street until he got bored and put his light sabor away. It was alot of fun! Star Wars weekends are great!
