Just returned yesterday from a family holiday. Two weeks at the POR followed by a week at the HRH concierge level.Visits to the KSC,Police Museum and Hall of Fame,Ponce Inlet lighthouse,Fantasy of Flight,Cypress Gardens,Merrit Island reserve,Altamonte Mall,Mall at Millenia,Florida Mall,a wildlife refuge at Davenport, and a trip of a lifetime on a Warbird Adventures flight at Kissimmee.Flew with Virgin from Gatwick.Needless to say still lots of time in the Disney parks and US and IOA.
If anyone has any questions I'll be glad to help. :moped:

Hi hope you had a great time.
We fly with Virgin on Monday from Manchester.
How did you find the crowds and weather?

Welcome back Firestorm!
How did you find POR? I'm thinking of the resort for my next trip but when I had a quick look around when I was staying at POP in July it seemed like it could be too big (causing problems with the bus service etc.) Did you look around POFQ next door- how did you think it compared?
Sounds like you had a billiant time! :bounce:

Welcome back, hope you had a great trip :) I'm looking for something to treat DH next year as hes had a very rough couple of years. He has mentioned the warbirds flight. Did you take the flight? And if so was it worth it?
Thanks Michelle

Ah! the crowds.MK was the worst but is to be expected. All Disney parks were busy but that's where a length of stay pass and staying on site helps. The weather got hotter as the weeks went on.Earlier this week the weather channel said that record temps were recorded in Orlando,I think 96 or 97 plus the humidity.
As you can see,we went on trips out from the main parks.Cypress Gardens was absolute heaven. It seemed there were more staff than guests and that mean't no lines,no noise and no hassle with everything open.US and IOA were not too busy but again staying at the HRH gave us an express pass at all rides/shows by showing our room card at the entrance. With a length of stay pass if it gets too crowd or hot then you can always come back another day or in the evening.
We have stayed at POR four times now and like the way the resort is spread out, lots of space and greenery and smaller quiet pools to use as well as the main one. It's nice and relaxing of a morning to stroll alongside the river, over the wooden bridge to the food court set inside the main building by the huge water wheel. Went to POFQ but found that it was more enclosed.Just a personal preference I suppose. We tended to drive to the parks,no cost to park and used the boat to travel to DD.

Shellbell, I have been wanting to take a flight on previous trips and this time I did.It was something I'll remember for the rest of my life and worth every penny. Its not often you get the chance to go up in a second world war fighter.I sat in the front seat for a thirty minute flight with aerobatics. The pilot,a great guy called Chuck let me take control and do a few turns.Got up to 6,500 feet and at the end of the flight you have a VHS tape plus a DVD of the flight with all sound plus stills taken from a camera on the wing tip to look back at.Even if you take the 15 minute flight then the views and the experience is well worth it.
The pilot talks you through everything.I guess you've looked at their web site. One piece of advice, try and book in advance.I was lucky. No previous experience is needed.I turned up in the morning at 1030 hours and there was one slot available for the next seven days that afternoon at 1400. :cool1:

Have a look at the web site www.warbirdadventures.com That's where I first found out plus there is a leaflet which you can pick up at the official visitors centre for Kissimmee/St Cloud on the 192.
