Does Disney put on any special parties or anything for New Years? Any rumors about what they may be doing at the Grand Californian for the evening?
I am hoping that they will feature an inter-generational New Year's event. We are bringing the whole family -- four generations -- from age 16 months to 89 (a very lively 89).
Thanks for any info!

The last time we were at DL for NYE was in 91. They gave out party favors, (I think), and there were fireworks at midnight.
It was the most crowded I have EVER seen the park. We've had APs for 12 years.
It's not like a usual night at DL, where people start to leave after the 9:30 fireworks. Since the fireworks are later in the evening (and because it's NYE) everyone stays in the park until midnight.
We were quite frustrated, because even though there were thousands of people in the park, the restaurants kept their regular schedule and began to close at their usual times; i.e., the Plaza closed at 9:30, the mexican restaurant in Fronteirland closed at 10, etc. We at at the BBQ restaurant at the rear of Frontierland, as that was all that was open by 10pm.
I would call & inquire about special times for Fantasmic or if anything special is planned for DTD or DCA. Good luck!
