Here's a tip that just came to me:
For those going this summer: Have a friend or neighbor go to your house early the day you are returning and have them either open windows or turn on your a/c for you. Sure will be better than coming home to a house that may have been "closed up" for a week-yuckk! :earboy2:

Before I leave I put fresh sheets on our beds and tuck them in really tight. That way when you come home that first night you sleep in fresh sheets. Just makes you feel a little special that first night back home.

I do this as well!
I am very, very luck. My neighbors and I have a system, when one is away someone collects mail, someone else walks, waters and feeds pets, flowers, grass and plants get watered, trash gets put out, etc. On return day, depending on the time of year they turn on the appropriate climate control (heat or air) and purchase perishables (we leave money in an envelope on the kitchen counter) such as milk and bread, cold cuts, etc. And we all always buy a treat like cookies or cake. I'm so blessed to have such great neighbors/friends!

That sounds like a lovely idea - I might try and make time to do that this year. I'm taking a couple of days off before the trip so hopefully I'll be able to have a tody up too - usually I'm running around like a mad man trying to make sure I've got everything - and turning the house upside down in the process :goodvibes
